While preparing for my birthday trip, my daughter and I decided to stop by Elegant Nail Spa to get our nails done and pedicures. With this being my first time at this nail salon, I was blown away with how beautiful the shop was. Even though we didn't have an appointment, we didn't wait long at all for them to start on our pedicures. Both of the Nail Techs were nice but they kept pressuring us to get Gel pedicures, which I wasn't a fan of. I had to ask my Nail Tech for another coat of polish, because the polish was blotchy and her response was that Gel polish would've been better. After our pedicures, they started on our nails. My daughter showed her Nail Tech an inspo picture of how she wanted them and the Nail Tech did a phenomenal job. I wanted a simple, French Gel Set and even though it took a few times for my Nail Tech to get the shape right, I really liked how they turned out. Overall, we spent $270 (before tip) for both sets and pedicures, which I thought was very pricey. I was charged $75 for just my short, French Gel Set and our pedicures were $40 each. It's a beautiful nail salon and I liked how our nails and pedicures turned out but I'm not sure if I would be returning. read more

I have a couple co-workers who go here so I went based on their recommendations and didn't really pay attention to the reviews. I'm really glad I didn't bc I could have missed out on coming to a wonderful nail salon if I went based on their review score. Lily was my nail tech and she was amazing. She took her time and really made sure my nails were perfect. I was so impressed with how great my nails came out. Not only with the design but the size and shape. The lady doing my pedicure used the cheese grater on me but that thing is usually for heels! She was grating my friggin toes!! And surely enough she sliced a whole chunk of my middle toe off on my right foot. I've always had normal/good experiences with the cheese grater on my heels - because they get so dry I usually prefer it! After she sliced my toe she sliced the side of my ankle while talking to the next pedicure employee. I showed her I was BLEEDING then she immediately put some green liquid on both spots and I asked her what that was because she didn't even ask me. She said it's for clotting im like ok but she applied it two more times and each time it burned !!!! She had me put my feet back into the used water and even tried to keep going as if I wasn't in lots of pain and making it KNOWN. It took all the way until the end of the service for my toe to stop bleeding even with her little unknown remedy. Un When she tried to file the nail on the cut toe I told her NO. I asked for a band aid and was fully prepared to not even get that for nail painted. Someone ELSE brought over two bandaids but she didn't apply them until the very end when I said CAN YOU PLEASE HAND ME THE BAND AID. she even tried to put the bag over my injured foot to which I said NO. She said oh it's not hot. I said NO I have an open wound ! Got charged full price. Which ok whatever fine but I didn't tip for the first time in my life because I literally left injured ! Plexiglass to separate the employees from the patrons. I recommend calling ahead and making an appointment. Walk-ins accepted but a walk-in who was waiting before we got there was asked to make an appointment because it was still busy. Save yourself the trouble, call ahead :) Check-in was through iPad. We were seated a chair away for social distancing. The massage chairs they have here are high quality. They have the air that inflates to put pressure on tour bottom. I haven't been to many places in CA that have this feature. My boyfriend really enjoyed it lol. Relaxing barn/wood theme going on with country/soft rock playing. Mike is a gentleman with a sleeve on his right arm. I definitely recommend him. Great attention to detail and he didn't give a half ass foot massage like most techs do. The pressure was perfect. I have been going to this establishment for 5 years, with a standing appointment every 2 weeks with the owner Sophia. Today when I arrived for my appointment at 11:00, she was doing someone's nails. She normally doesn't arrived at her establishment until 11:00, so I'm not sure if this customer walked in before I arrived or she came in a few minutes early for her. But she never acknowledged me to greet me as usual nor did she say she was running behind. I waited 10 minutes after my appointment and left. Truly disappointed with being treated this way and by the owner. As the owner of a business you should treat your customers with respect and inform them of what is going on. "Elegant" what a joke. I had gone here twice before to get a manicure in grad school and both times I left bleeding. I came back thinking I should give them another chance as my normal nail salon was busy and I just wanted to have my dip powder nails taken off properly. I told the nail tech that I just wanted to remove the dip powder from my nails. How it's SUPPOSED TO BE DONE is filling off the top layer then soaking the nails in acetone. This was NOT what she did. She cut off some of the length which is what I wanted anyway then proceeded to take a fake nail and jam it inbetween the dip powder and my actual nail causing my natural nails to rip and break. I wanted to have a cut down of my nails but because she ripped off the tips of my nails, I was forced to have more cut off than I would have liked. $10 for her to damage my nails. If I would've known that is how she was going to remove my dip then I would've just gotten floss and sawed them off myself. I will NEVER recommend people go here. Came in over the holiday season with my sister. We easily made our appointment online a few days in advanced and when we arrived 15 minutes early they were able to accommodate us immediately even though they were very busy. The service was great and they were all friendly and happy employees willing to chat for a bit as they did our nails. It's clean, comfortable, follows COVID-19 regulations, awesome selection of colors (although no Essie colors or a 2-week polish option, which was a major bummer), and the two technicians I've done my nails with are bang-on; Andy and Mickey. ***Original five star review was over a year ago: I have been a satisfied customer since I moved to Va Beach. So much so, that I've followed the owner Andy until this salon was built. That's when I met Teresa. She is my forever nail girl. She takes such great care of me and she knows just what my nails need. She has a kind spirit and her "girl friend" comments make me smile. Every appointment with her is enjoyable. I leave the salon feeling beautiful each time. If you hadn't had it yet, try the collagen gel pedi. I get it every three weeks and I feel like I'm walking on clouds. Amazing!!!! Truth be told, I had one bad experience over a month or so ago when Teresa wasn't working. I'm not one to complain. So I didn't say anything. During my next appointment, I was telling Teresa how thankful I was that she was back and I told her about my rushed and painful experience with another nail tech. Again I'm not one to complain, so I wasn't expecting anything out of it, but I did mention the issues I had from my prior appointment with Sophia. I just wanted her to know what happened so that what I experienced didn't happen to another customer. She apologized and that was that. Being a long time customer, I guess I felt that my concerns were dismissed at some sort. I also left Andy a voicemail that day, sharing my conversation with Sophia. Anywho, at the end of the day, when you find your nail person, don't cheat. Just wait for their return. I learned my lesson. And don't let one bad experience defer you from this salon. I'd thought I'd give them another chance. I made an appointment with Lily. When I came in, I wasn't greeted like the normal customer. Andy's mom just looked at me and walked away. This was shocking because she was so sweet and used to do my mom's nails. She knew my mom was sick, and would always ask me (before she passed) how she was doing. So, this was quite bothersome. I waited for 45 minutes after my appointment time to be seated. During the entire time I was waiting, nothing was said to me by anyone, not even Sophia. Lily however was very sweet and kind and she did an amazing job. I asked her if she would do my nails again when I returned. Her reply was yes. So I finally found someone that could do my nails almost as good as Teresa. A few weeks later, I returned for my appointment with Lily. Again no greet, this time, Tiffany was at the front desk, and she said nothing, and walked away. Lily had someone at her table, so Sophia had me sit with Ming. This is normal, for another tech to prep your nails, while you wait, so I had no worries. Ming has done a few pedi's for me. But, my entire appointment ended up with Ming and no one says anything to me, not even Lily. I honestly felt like I wasn't wanted there. It's completely hurtful after the 8 years that I've been a loyal customer, from Nails Plus to Elegant Nail Spa, I followed Andy even to his uncles salon while he was waiting on permits to open up Elegant Nail Spa. I remember when Andy and Sophia had their first born baby boy. The history and report were there. I have always given everyone the benefit of the doubt. That's very clear in my original review, so changing my review to one star isn't easy for me, but it's important for Andy to know that they've lost a loyal customer as well all of my friends and family that I've referred, for good. I will no longer praise this salon. I guess the saying is true, "money changes people". Thankfully, I've reconnected with Teresa. She is genuine and she cares about her clients. I came here on Tuesday June 7th for an acrylic fill with gel and a gel pedicure. I did not get the shape that I wanted and my nails were very uneven and lumpy. Also one part of the acrylic broke (not my real nail) on Thursday June 9th. I decided to make an appointment for Friday June 10th to get a color change and to have them reshape my nails. I had no issue paying for this since I didn't speak up at my first appointment that I was unhappy with my nails. Below are the pictures of my nails after I got them fixed and after getting into my car. Literally still in the parking lot. How does a nail break within minutes of getting them done!? It's very nice looking inside, modern and chic but the appointment felt very impersonal. Like "come here, sit." My pedicure lasted 30 minutes not 45 as described. Within a second of applying the top coat he got up and went and came back with my bill- I paid with cash and then he just looked at me so I asked if I could stay in the pedicure chair while I dried - no exaggeration there was at least 15 empty pedicure chairs and he said "no you dry up front" and grabbed my stuff and started walking up front. This is my first review and I feel compelled to do this to shout out my girl Abbie! I've been a loyal patron of this salon for over a year. It has more of a posh feel in comparison to other salons I've been to. The salon itself is large and can accommodate large parties. There are also a lot of nail techs and it can be overwhelming to choose one if you're making an appointment online (which is another advantage that I love about this salon), but let me make your choice easy. Abbie is A1. I've been serviced by three other techs (to which I won't name for defamation purposes) and once I met Abbie, I was sold. Ever since, I only book with Abbie. She's respectful of my time. She's attentive to when I arrive and has made it a habit of prepping the services I book prior to my arrival. There was a time when she was running behind because she was with another client. She apologized and even comped my service 10%. I typically come in with designs that I want and she brings them to life, with her own twist of course. She also pays attention to the kind of designs and colors I like so when I choose a color that is no longer available, she's able to make recommendations that would best fit me and my liking. She takes her time when doing your nails and she always checks in with me during the service to make sure I like the color and shape. I couldn't ask for a better nail tech! I was a bit iffy writing this review because it might make it harder for me to get an appointment with Abbie, but I want to see this girl thrive and have massive success for the talent she offers! If you don't believe me, here are a few photos I've taken of my nails when I've gotten designs. If you're looking for a milky nude/pinkish color, I recommend bubble bath and put in neutral by OPI. So bad. I had an apt. at 10:00AM and didn't sit down until 10:40AM. I understand places are busy right now and workers are low so I did not say anything and waited patiently. My tech who did my toes was great, but the tech who did my fill in was SO RUDE. She told me I could not get a fill that I wanted which I knew was not true after getting my nails done since high school. I gave up, let her do what she told me I could and my nails are so thick, already chipping and are not filed cohesively. I moved to VB 8 months ago and have been trying to find a great nail place. I've bounced around to a few places and after being disappointed, I decided to try Elegant after it opened. I am so incredibly happy I did! Andy did my acrylic/gel fill yesterday and fixed the horrendous fill I had gotten at a different nearby salon a week earlier (broken nails, lifted gel after less than a week at the other place). He worked quickly but so efficiently and walked me through what he was doing. The salon as a whole is so incredibly clean and beautiful. Everyone is so nice and polite and their front desk assistant is so courteous and sweet. She greeted me at check in, showed me all the colors, and called me by my name the rest of my visit. I just wish I had caught hers! Lol. They even gave me a warm shoulder compress while they were working which felt amazing. Prices are super reasonable and they are offering a 5% discount right now if you pay with cash. You can make an appointment online or just walk in. I didn't have an appointment but I only had to wait maybe 10 minutes. They have a lot of technicians so it goes by fast. Highly recommend, will be going back as long as I live here! read more
