My sister just moved to the Shaler area (I've lived her for 3 years) and we wanted to get our nails done for vacation. I usually get my nails done closer to work, but COVID19 means I'm working from home now. Neither of us had ever been here, so we thought we'd check it out. Some of the reviews on here talk about the place not being clean or the technicians not being talkative, and that's absolutely not true. The place was immaculate inside, and we both had AJ do our nails and he was fantastic! We both got gel manicures, and were in and out with perfect nails in about 30 minutes total. I didn't feel rushed, but I also didn't want to sit around for an unnecessarily long amount of time (which has happened at other salons). AJ was really funny and easy to talk to, but didn't force his way into conversation with my sister and I. I'll definitely be requesting him next time! This place is reasonably priced and the menu board has EVERYTHING listed and priced, which makes everything so much easier than guessing or asking. I've never known how to ask for ombré or dip powder, but now I don't have to because the prices are right there. As far as COVID19 stuff goes, only one other patron was wearing a mask though. My sister and I were (she's high risk, and also it's just the right thing to do). They have the glass shields at every station and they seemed to thoroughly clean each station too. All in all, we've definitely found "our" nail salon now. 10/10 recommend! read more

Extremely nice staff. My pedicure was okay. She spent a lot of time on my nails cleaning them up but my skin was just as dry on my heels as when I went and and the polish was applied sloppy. I believe she may have been training but I probably won't go back. I have gotten much better pedicures for less money. read more

If you're considering going, I highly highly advise against it. I chose a purple, and was given a light blue. As the technician was applying the color to the first nail, I raised concerns which were quickly brushed off in an upset mutter. I was made to feel insecure and stupid when I asked him to remove the red glitter from my nails that had been the result of using a brush not properly cleaned from a previous client. At one point he had pulled my arms so far across the table it pulled my shoulder. Overall the salon is extremely unhygienic - the tools, floor, & stations. I had an extremely uncomfortable visit, when I raised concerns or questions I was shot down, and there is an obvious lack of care for the clientele. If I could I would give this business 0 stars. read more

I brought my two adult daughters and my niece for pedicures and/or manicures today. I would not recommend, they were dirty, careless and sloppy. She removed my existing gel and cut my toe, then left acetone on my feet for about 15 mins. I had to take the foil off due to the burn. No apologies given They then used a brush to wash my feet. Rinsed it with water only then stuck in a drawer. My daughter then had the same brush used on her feet that had been already been used on mine with out proper sanitation. They then did the same thing, Rinsed the brush only, then put in drawer without proper sanitation. Absolutely not hygienic and should be evaluated by the state board of cosmetology. This is how both bacterial and fungal infections spread. She did not wear gloves and never washed her hands, only rinsed and dried her hands (my daughter who is a premedical student noticed) then went and started my daughters manicure. In addition to poor sterilization and hygiene practices, and an open sore left on my toe, they left clear polish all over skin, sloppy, messy. Not well done. I will never return there read more

So I went here cause I was over this way and I thought I would give them a chance... never again! When I called they said for gel mani/pedi would be 80 dollars, usually I go to nail envy In Shadyside. My mistake for trying somewhere different! Place was just not very mice on the inside which no biggie but for what she ended up charging me 110 and my nails starting chipping within the next day. So I call and on the phone it's 80 and some how jumps to 110!? The pedicure was mediocre at best. Will never go back to to this place not worth the money what so ever! read more

Jackie R....Im glad you felt the need to comment on Vince, a nail tech that you know nothing about. Shame on you! Everyone that works at this salon is fabulous including Vince. I have been exclusively going to him and he does the best shellac manicures. They last way longer than 2 weeks. Also, he was there for me when my dad got diagnosed with terminal cancer and died a few months later. He is a good person despite his past. He shouldnt be judged on his past. I have been here twice, medi and pedi. Both times I had the same girl who did a precise job both times. The interior is simple and the staff is very friendly and lay back. They carry many colors of nail polish; always an issue for me, I take too long deciding on which one. It's a convenient location and even though I have other choices in my area I will pick this one from now on. I really like the personnel. read more

We really wanted to like this salon because it's close but it's bad.. We made 6:30 appointments that weren't honored at all. There were only 3 people working when we walked in that had 3 people in their chairs - 3 kids and an adult in pedicure chairs and then 4 of us in the waiting area. My nails are fine but an absolutely horrible shape. The corners are sharp. My moms nails weren't filled to the end, but the paint job was great. The pedicure was the WORST. Not to mention they charged me for a regular pedicure and I didn't get the sugar scrub or hot towel like the price list said I should have. They closed the register after I caught it otherwise I would have said something. We won't be back. read more

I would recommend going anywhere but Elegant Nails. My mom and I had appointments made and not only did they overbook and weren't able to take us at our appointment time but they didn't even acknowledge our presence. After about 20 minutes of no interaction with any employee we left. The salon is also small with no waiting area and minimal colors to choose from. read more

I have been coming here for many years and will not go anywhere else! My acrylic gel nails stay on for over four weeks without any cracks, chips, pop offs, or peeling. I could never say that about another salon. I normally see Nina, but have seen every tech in the shop and love them all! I've gone a couple times, and it's the best work in the area. I had a gel manicure last 17 days without chipping. I'm hard on my hands at work, so that's a miracle in itself. My gel manicure was ok, but not exceptional. They do look nice, but there were globs of clear gel underneath my nails touching my skin, which is annoying so I had to dig it out when I got home. I also had to file the jagged edges on the ends of a few nails. However, the main reason I will not go back here is that they were very unprofessional. First of all, the guy who did my nails went out for a smoke break while my nails were soaking, so I had to smell the smoke on him during the rest of my appointment. Secondly, he was very flirty and talked to me about all the girls he's slept with and things like that. I would give no stars if I could. Me and my boyfriend we're in today. Not only do my nails look like shit but.. the person that was doing my nails was highly disrespectful and out of line. He got mad because my boyfriend sat down next to me in a small chair because he was curious. And even had the nerve to be so rude, call my boyfriend out for no reason ( he literally did nothing. He was actually amazed by how nails get done) and the guy told him he could go wait it the waiting area. And then decide to keep talking about my boyfriend in front of me as he walked away. It was a waste of $30 and my boyfriend was really upset and so was I. The only reason I didn't get up and walk away was because he was almost done when this occurred. Not to mention he was singing inappropriate songs the whole time and then also not to mention the fact that he said I was cheap ( in both my nail choice and picking my boyfriend) he thought he was being funny and me, not so much. I don't appreciate rude flirtatious people who act pathetic for no reason. I won't be returning at all and I'll make sure someone does something about this because this is beyond rude. UPDATE: After going to AJ regularly for several months, I will not be returning. Had an appointment for 1:00. When I arrived 5 minutes early, he looked to be just starting on someone else. There was a group of 3 that seemed to be walk-ins that he was talking with/working on. I was made to sit "soaking" my nails (never had to do this before) for nearly an hour after my appointment time while he accommodated them. When I finally did get seated, the aforementioned group sat next to me the whole time, being unnecessarily loud, pulling his attention to show him pictures, etc. I was an afterthought. My nails came out uneven and ragged at the tips, and were obviously rushed. When it came time to check out, I was told they don't "do" credit on Sundays. Wtf? So I had to pay an ATM fee on top of the complete garbage experience. Also this is SUPER gross- they often take pictures of their work, usually holding something like fur etc. Saw a pic posted with someone's nasty feet on the same fur that I'd been handed numerous times for pics of my finger nails. I don't care how fresh the pedicure was, I don't want to touch anything someone's feet were all over! Sickening. 2 stars because AJ really is very talented, but the atmosphere sucks, they don't honor appointments, and their obscure credit policies make no sense. read more
