Stopped in for a gel manicure with no appointment. The salon was very nice. It had a very upbeat and social environment, with music playing, and people chatting while getting their nails done. I was instantly seated and served. John, my nail tech, was fabulous. He did a great job and was very thorough. I left with my hands feeling like silk and smelling like oranges! Paid $42 for the gel mani, which is pretty good considering I'm in downtown Pittsburgh! A very refreshing and enjoyable experience. I will most certainly be back! read more

Went there today and my friend and I both got a full set French tip. Mine were okay she definitely rushed and they could have used one more coat of the pink color underneath but still ended up looking okay. But my friends were very messy there was white bleeding in the pink and glue all over her nails her cuticles were a mess. He spent over an hour and half for them to look very bad. Paying 70 dollars was ridiculous for what we got. She asked him multiple times to fix them and he said he would and they turned out horrible. Would not recommend for the price. read more

Not my favorite nail experience, as I had concerns around cleanliness. I went in for a gel nail removal, and I didn't like during the dremel process all of the dust was flying around in my face. I will say, they were at least careful not to go too far with the dremel so they didnt strip my natural nail. They provided a bowl of acetone to soak my fingers in, instead of the soaking clips which I didn't like. Not my first choice in nail salons in Pittsburgh. read more

Both of the women who helped me were professional and everything was ultra clean. I do recommend calling ahead to make an appointment but they do accept walk ins. I was in desperate need of a pedicure so I decided to walk into Kenny's Nail Center since I work upstairs. I walked in around 12:30 and they were able to take me right away. I noticed that the shop was constantly steady, but the employees were quick and thorough and moved people along with good speed. My pedicure was the perfect timing because I was in and out in about 40 minutes (including drying time for my nail polish). I LOVE THIS SALON!! I've been going to this family salon for years now, well over 10 years and this is the only place I go! It's a very busy salon and sometimes you are tagged teamed between Cammy and her husband however, she respects your time and she multitask to get you in and out! Pedicures are done by her mom and she's takes her time, scrub your feet, and gives a nice massage. Very friendly and she doesn't do acrylic but I've seen her assist with taking gel off and applying gel to natural nails Cammy is GREAT! She's personable, efficient, there's no pressure with her, and she loves to recreate designs you bring! Her husband helps out and he's very nice and just as fast. Her father does nails as well, he hasn't done mind yet but he's definitely an OG! Kenny is the uncle who is EXCELLENT with both nails and pedis but he hasn't been there as he's visiting family! Overall, great salon, it's clean, the music is a vibe, and it's just a great environment to get your nails done in! Worst salon experience I've ever had! I called around noon to set up 2 pedicures, 1 for myself & 1 for my boyfriend, since we're in town for a bodybuilding show. The lady on the phone said they had time if we could get there in 10 minutes. We walk in, I tell her my name & she's like, "ohhh, one is for him...? We only have guy employees & they won't do male pedicures.. but you can wait 20-30 minutes for a woman to do the pedicure." It seemed incredibly sexist to us.. The men will only do pedicures so they can rub women's feet?! I left the decision up to my boyfriend since it was for his show. He decided to wait. They start on my pedicure.. (side note- I went to cosmetology school so I know all of the steps to a pedicure) This pedicure was the least impressive pedicure I've ever gotten.. He skipped half the steps, cut my toes twice, made fun of my previous pedicure, & put this gel on my legs that made them burn. 30 minutes later goes by & I ask when my boyfriend will be able to get his pedicure done since she said 20-30 minutes. The lady goes.. "oh well the lady now has a 1 o'clock appointment so he'll have to wait unless the appointment doesn't show up" I was fuming! How are you first going to tell someone you can't do their service because they're a man, and then give them a time on when someone can do the service & then not follow through with that time! I rave about Kenny's Nail Center to everyone! I have been there three times already and have never left disappointed. My nails last for at least 3 weeks, if not longer! I recommend GelX which is what I get every time. If you take care of your nails properly by not using them to open or press things, then you should have no problem with them lasting for many weeks. Janky mani. Janky pedi. No plastic liner was used in the pedicure tub and I didn't see it get cleaned after I was done. I also paid the price for the standard pedicure and didn't get every part advertised (hot towels). The UV light didn't work properly so my gel manicure didn't come out nice. UPDATE: the manager did notice me complain during my time and only charged me for a classic pedi. Not gonna lie, I'm very disappointed. When I came in, I emphasized that I work on my feet all day and that they hurt and how much I'm looking forward to the foot massage part of the pedicure. So I chose the deluxe option, even though a massage was listed under the classic option too. Before I know it, the stylist is putting flip flops on to paint my toenails. I said, what about the massage? She replied I did it! I did step one two three and massage was four. (Also, the hot towels were placed -vs wrapped- on my legs for like, a minute only). I guess her definition of a massage is 'rub in lotion briefly. And done'. When it came time to paint my toes, she did the glitter on top as I asked, but didn't wait enough time. As I watched, I saw a streak of the under color get wiped off, which she just continued to cover up with glitter. The salon is always super clean and the staff is so friendly they will make you feel like family. Kenny is really nice and great at what he does. I'm taking away the 4th star for price and long wait even with appointment. With tip it was a $70 pedi and I didn't even pay the extra for the spa scrape. It was way over priced for a basic pedi and gel. If I did go with spa scrape it would be closer to $80 or $85. I can get the whole spa deal with gel and design elsewhere faster for $50 or $55 including tip. read more

Just as I was starting to relax and enjoy the water of my pedicure, they drained it and went SO fast. Incredibly rushed. My nail artist kept pressuring me to get the gel and not regular, but I said no thank you; gel lasts a while, but regular should last at LEAST a week. By the next day, my manicure started chipping. It's day 2 today-- and my nails are BARE. WASTE. OF. MONEY. My regular (not gel) pedicure, however, is somehow in tact. Don't waste your money here, where they rush you and is overpriced. read more

When I called to schedule this appointment I was well aware there was a good chance the salon would be booked but instead, I was told they could fit me in. In retrospect, I would rather they had not because it was very clear I was just squeezed in and the result was rushed. I made an appointment to get a set of acrylics removed and a regular polish. I put my hands in the solution to remove the old acrylic and was told 10 minutes. Instead, I was left for 45 minutes while the nail tech was doing someone else's set of acrylics. From there, the polish was put on aggressively and sloppy with paint getting under my nail and on my cuticles. I have never had a worse experience at a nail salon before with a total charge of almost 30 dollars. I definitely will not be going back or recommending this salon to others. read more

Cami and Kenny are my favorites they do such an amazing job at whatever it is you get and they are willing to do whatever you want from plane mani pedis to fill on intricate designs! They are amazing. Also, love the fact that you get the prices BEFORE your nails are done. Some salons don't tell you the price till after you appointment or apon request only. First of all - I thought the Warner Center was totally vacant. I hadn't been in the building since I was about 5 years old, and assumed it was a desert in the middle of 5th Avenue. I was wrong! Kenny's, a wig shop, and assorted other businesses still maintain this once-vibrant facility. Kenny's is sparkling clean and spacious. I've always gotten gel nails and she gets me in and out in 45 minutes and the nails last for a minimum of two weeks -- usually more. Everyone on the staff is really nice in general and goes out of their way to help you. The guy who wrapped my nails to get the gel off let acetone pour all down my hand to my wrist and told me to watch out for my phone.. I had to ask for a towel to wipe it off. Having just moved here from California I'm trying to find my go to places for nails, hair, brows - you know, all of it! This was my first attempt and I was not impressed. First it was hard to find. Their Yelp page hasn't been updated with their new address in Warner Center. Finally found the spot and the salon was kind of dismal - kind of like an 80's rec. room filled with spa chairs. I arrived a bit confused, but received a warm welcome and proceeded to pick my colors. The selection was kind of sparse, but I found some I really liked. Then I was brought over to the chair to begin the pedicure. My technician was an older man. He started to use an unsterilized nail clipper, and any hope of a good experience crashed to the floor. Finally I asked, "How do you sterilize your equipment?" He put it away, spoke to someone, and a female technician came over with an unopened bag of sterile equipment. Phew! You see, California has super strict regulations on nail salons. Clean, sterile equipment has to be used on every customer, even nail files and buffers are one-time use only. So, I'm not in California anymore and this is going to be an adjustment. The technician that did my nails was awesome. Friendly, cheerful, and great technique. I do like the results. But, I was surprised that there was no use of cuticle softener or oils. I asked about this too. She said they give basic manicures. I guess so, and for a minute my heart longed for my former nail salon in Cole Valley, where a basic manicure DID include those niceties for about the same price. Sigh.... I guess if all you really want is a quick, bare bones mani/pedi this is the place. I like more pampering and ambiance, so I'll keep exploring until I find my go to spot! read more

Ever since I moved from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh I get my nails done here. They are so professional and so kind and the place is very clean. For the work that I get done the price is really good. I also like that it's a small business in downtown Pittsburgh in the Warner building. There's really cheap parking in the Oliver garage, three dollars for 0 to 4 hours. It's right across the street from the Warner building. I feel very comfortable there and I've never felt judged. I moved to the city back in May and was looking for a nail center near by and turned to Google and Yelp to find a place and that's when I came upon Kenny's Nail Center. The reviews were amazing and everyone said to ask for Cammy, the owner, so I called and made an appointment with her that day and have been going since! I am SO picky about my nails and I never have to correct her work. She's always available to squeeze me in for a last minute appointment, has the newest products and colors available, and will fix broken nails for you in minutes. *Side note-I also recently had health problems and was put into a wheelchair and the ENTIRE staff was so attentive and helped me not just move around the salon but were genuinely concerned about my well being. It's like a big family when you go there. They get to know you and care for you and going there is always so up lifting. read more

They didn't tell me on the phone that they had recently moved so I went to their previous location. And then instead of cutting my nails, they filed them to death and did a terrible job at. In fact, they even tore my nails they filed so much and so hard. They left residual no chip polish on my nails (I came in with it on but asked for just a regular manicure with clear polish). Only reason why this place gets a two star is because the owner is friendly. However, he was working on multiple customers at the same time so I felt that my manicure was rushed and it didn't turn out good. They don't ask what shape you would like your nails to be or even help you cut the dead skin around your nails. Another downside is that it is so expensive. So I was walking around downtown wanting to find a place that does Shellac nails. I tried looking on Yelp to identify if any salons downtown offer it, but with no success. So off I went, and I stumbled upon Kenny's Nail Center/Salon. Apparently right now they are the only nail salon in downtown Pittsburgh that has shellac. At first, I passed it b/c I didn't see any bright flashing lights saying shellac, but then I did a double take b/c on the window there is a small poster advertising that they do shellac. So I went in to confirm that they do shellac and to get the costs - as some of you know it can be pricey. They did confirm they did shellac and that without a full manicure that the cost would be $25 (slight grooming and painting only). I'm not sure how much the manicure and shellac would cost, but I thought $25 was a good deal for getting a 3-week polish job. And from what I heard it usually costs $35-40 bucks a pop. They were very busy and asked if I could come later in the afternoon around 2:15 PM (I went there initially at 12:30 PM) and I said that was fine - luckily I have some flexibility with work. So around 2:00 I departed work to go back to Kenny's. It seemed even more crowded so I was worried that I'd be overlooked, but they asked what I was there for and I said shellac and they said, "oh yes, 2:15 sit down" and pointed towards a nail chair. So I sat down and was greeted by Kammy - she was super nice and did an awesome job. I get a bit worried about some of these nail places cause they can do a pretty crappy job, but Kammy took her time (although it was clear she was very busy and people were waiting to see her). She's the only one in the salon that does Shellac and she is there on Thurs., Fri, and Sat. So for my downtown working ladies (or men if you're in to that sort of thing) in the house - stop by and see Kammy to get a polish job that will be chip and smudge free for 3 weeks! My nails look aaaaawesome! I got the bright pink color - I think it's called tutti fruity! Oh and there was also a cute little girl that helped out after Kammy was essentially finished who put the oil on my cuticles and did the alcohol finishing step to make the nails all glossy. Be a star and make sure you tip her as well! read more
