Raheem always does a great job. A little bit pricey, but you won't have to wait long and you'll get good results.

Decided to give this place a try since it's close to my home. Had basic pant hem done. Raheem did an expert measurement for the hemming, more detailed, several reference points. Also looked at lose buttons on a pair of button boots, since they do leather work too. He said the button stitching was in good shape and didn't need new placement but that he would tighten around existing stitching. I appreciated his honest opinion and did as promised. Now much sturdy bottoms. 5* for expert hem and matched the light green existing stitching on pants, and the honest opinion and job done on button boots. read more

DO NOT patronize this business. They have posted hours that are different than when they are open. When you call, they say they'll be in at a specific time but aren't. When I inquired about that, she said "I don't have to report where I am and when I'll be here." Well ... you kind of have to if you're running a business. And why would you ever be rude to the customers who pay your bills? She will take no responsibility for poor quality work or for the people who work for her. The owner measured pants incorrectly, so that the tailor had to re-do them. And then he said he'd be in the next day to do more and wasn't. They have taken the "customer" out of "customer service." There are a million good tailors in Salt Lake. This isn't one of them. We made four trips to get terrible service. read more

This place is awful.. I initially went here because another local firm recommended Raheem as being phenomenal. I just needed a pair of slacks and a few shirts brought in, so I figured it shouldn't be too bad. Boy, was I wrong... my first impression of the owner, Raheem, was that he was short in his conversation and a little rude. At the time I figured, what the heck, maybe when you're a top-notch tailor you can afford to be a little abrasive. When I finished paying he said he would have it done in a week. I came back a week later and was told by his assistant that he wasn't quite done yet. She asked me to come back in a couple of hours. I told her that I had just been offered a last minute interview, and I actually needed something for the previous morning and that I could wait a couple of days if I could just take part of what they had already completed. She ran in the back grabbed my stuff - I was slightly shocked to find that they had not yet started ANY of my 6 items I dropped off a week prior. I ended up going back later and getting my stuff - I didn't have time to try it on there because I was rushing to work. When I got home I found that 1 of the shirts didn't fit and the pants were too tight. Also, they didn't break the stitching far enough down on the pants, so there was a bulge halfway down the seam. Clearly, they sloppily finished my items to just be done with them. I went back the next day and showed the assistant the issues - she informed me that it would cost an additional 25 to do the shirt. I told her to forget about the shirt and to just fix the pants, at which point, she agreed to do them for free (not sure what the logic was here, seems a little shady to me). She said that the two articles would be done in another week. I went back exactly a week later and was, yet again, informed that my stuff was not yet done. The same assistant apologized and said she would have it done by that after noon and that "he is very busy right now because he is moving h I will take care of it this afternoon". I told her not to worry about it and that I'll be back in a few days (my thought process was that if they rushed they would just mess something else up) Finally, I went in a fourth time and was delighted to see the owner, Raheem. I said "Hey... I'm here.. for the fourth time." He looked at me and requested my ticket, but I informed him that his assistant kept it the last time I was there. He immediately walked back and got my stuff as if he knew exactly who I was. He offered for me to try it on, which I knew from my previous visits was a requirement. As I took the clothes he said was "it's a work in process, we don't always get it right the first time" to which I replied "yeah, and I totally get that. My problem is that you consistently failed to meet the deadline", he then turn around and just said "go try it on.". I understand things come up and there are delays, but the fact that he couldn't even apologize for his piss poor performance is my issue. It appears to me that he ran a great business in the past, but over the last year he has either become either arrogant or just doesn't care. Do yourself a favor, stay away from this place. read more

I brought in 2 pairs of jeans on a Friday. I was told I could pick them up the following Friday. I asked the gentleman if there was a specific time that'd be best to come in and pick up. He said, "No. They'll be done. Come in any time." I went to pick up and they had done nothing. I needed them to be done for the weekend. Needless to say, I'm pretty upset. I have been going to Raheem for tailoring for the last year and I have brought him around a dozen things or more to be adjusted. He does amazing work and his prices are very reasonable. He is very honest and will not do work that isn't worth doing. If something isn't worth getting altered he is very honest and has said several times that something was 'too big'. He remembers me by name and always gets to my alterations very quickly and his work is impeccable. I would totally recommend Raheem for his exceptional expertise in the realm of tailoring. read more

Just took my Christian Dior suit there and was a little apprehensive but he did an amazing job and I'll be taking everything here from now on. This place is fantastic. I bought a dress with an unfinished hem (the store gave me a big discount) and don't have a sewing machine to fix it myself. I brought it here and they did it on the spot, while I was still in the store. She gave me a discount because it was such a fast job and she even gave me tips about what to do to fix it. I could not be more offended how the owner of this store treated me. I inquired about taking in my wedding dress and he replied with multiple profanities. I am so pleased with the work that I have done on my clothes at Elegant Tailoring. I have had about a dozen pairs of jeans and pants taken in on the waist. I have a curvy athletic body and if I were to buy jeans to fit my waist, I would never get them past my legs or butt. I buy my pants to fit my legs and butt and have the waist tailored. I have had up to 5 inches of material removed. I have been to other tailors that just put darts/seams in at the waist and then they look funny after. This is not the case at Elegant Tailoring. They take the waist off and make it all look like new. I can't tell you how good it feels to have a pair of jeans that fits everywhere and doesn't have to be belted up with bunches and folds of material. I had the waist taken in on a blazer that was a little wide in the body and I am having a pair of corduroys changed from a boot cut to more of a straight leg. The one time I didn't think a pair of pants were done tight enough, Elegant Tailoring fixed them at no cost. I have been very happy with the service and have taken enough things in that they know my name when I walk in. I don't mind a week or so when I have so many things that need work done. I would rather have things done right than fast. But that being said, I did have to get something done fast before I left for a vacation and they were able to accommodate me. read more

I will not go back to this place. I always like to support the local business and I've been here three times to give then the benefit of the doubt. But I cannot support it anymore. It's more of a hassle. It amazes me that it takes over a week to do a simple hem job. The second time I went, my pants weren't ready even though my ticket said it would be (a week later from when I dropped it off). Each time I've gone there (at different times) during business hours , the doors were locked and it seemed like no one was in there. "I think they're out to lunch" is what the lady with the hair cutting place next door said. It was 3 pm when I went there. read more

I was sent to this tailor by recommendation. The tailor was courteous and took his time measuring and fitting the material to my body. However, two weeks after the date he had established handed back a mangled shirt, a sweater that was unwearable due to his "fix" and a jacket and now won't fit. I was disappointed to loose some great clothes that were now beyond repair. read more

I've had Elegant Tailoring work on many pants and a couple of suits. I have always been pleased with the service I have received. If something is not right the first time, Raheem has always been happy to redo it for free (and even if I've tried it out for a couple of weeks). I've only needed to do that a couple of times. I am also impressed that Raheem always remembers that I have one leg shorter than the other. Every other tailor I've used has needed constant reminders. The only downside here is that you have to wait about a week to get the service performed, but my clothes have always been ready when promised. I will continue to go back. read more

I was referred by a local leather shop owner who could not do the work I was seeking, replacement of a ski jacket zipper. Elegant had the job done in a week and it looks terrific. They used a high quality zipper that totally matched the way the coat is set up. The price of $38 was way cheaper than finding a new ski jacket. I inquired about hemming a garment and the owner quite repeatedly said the F word to me and continued to call me a B**** because he doesn't work with the type of material I was inquiring about. I was so happy with this place. I had two pair of pants I needed hemmed and quickly as I was hoping to use them on a business trip. The owner (I assume he's the owner anyway) was so helpful and was able to get them both done in just a day for me and didn't charge any extra for the rush. I dropped off three pairs of slacks to either be taken in or taken out. They told me they would be done in one week. I came back in nine days and one pair had been sitting there the whole time because they had questions about what needed to be done. Apparently, one employee marked them but didn't indicate to the tailor what needed to be done. The work was good but the service was sub par and I ended up having to make multiple trips to pick up my slacks for a relatively simple request. I also had to walk into the back room to get someone to notice me after 10 minutes of waiting at the front desk. read more

Do not trust the work here. The place is a dump, the owner will rush through your measurements, and the work will be sloppy. I brought a simple dress there to be taken in, and they could not get it right. When I insisted it was still too big, the owner told me it was fine. When I called back to insist it was too big, he said I must have lost weight, which I have not in 1 week. The over confidence that this man exudes should be backed up by good work, but it simply is not. Most importantly, he will blame you for his poor work.
