I came to Elena years ago & I am just now getting over the damage she left on my skin. I've gone to estheticians twice & both times left me traumatized. Elena was the last esthetician I ever went to. I went to Elena back in 2020, I found her through Yelp & she had very few reviews at the time, all five stars. The first time I went in, I met her, she did a facial to treat my acne and she squeezed my face so hard my eyes would water. She literally gave me a tissue so I could keep wiping my tears. I told her I have very sensitive skin & I don't like people squeezing my skin because it will scar. This happened with the first esthetician I went to, she assured me she would not leave scaring. I let her do her thing trusting she was a professional & trusting the five star reviews. When I saw my skin I noticed she was trying to extract freckles & little moles I had on my skin, the skin around my freckles & moles were pinched & red & burning. She left scars all along my cheeks, on my forehead, on my chin, and I feel like she even left my nose lumpy from how hard & how much she would squeeze my skin. When I smile, there is a scar from a "blackhead" she squeezed. She was pushy with her products that caused an allergic reaction & when I told her, she told me I needed to seek a professional because she couldn't help me, completely disregarding the inflammation started when I began to use her products. Because of the terrible experience I had with her, I went to go see a dermatologist & he fixed some of the scaring she caused me. I'm all about supporting small mom, pop, immigrant, businesses but just be careful because she will cause scaring with her extractions & I don't want someone else to go through what I went through being misled with 5 star reviews. I scheduled an appointment to visit Elena for a chemical peel and the first thing that struck me was that the office waiting room was almost pitch dark. No one was at the front desk to receive me, so I had to sit awkwardly wondering if I should go behind the counter to see if anyone was actually there. When it came time for my appointment, Elena popped out from behind the door to ask for a few minutes to wrap up her previous session. That was no problem, but I did hear some pretty nasty coughing from the client so... that was somewhat unappealing and all I could think about was how the area would be disinfected before we started. I told her I wanted a chemical peel for my back for some mild hyperpigmentation left from teenage acne, but all she recommended was a $50 jar of exfoliating pads to use. I was a bit dumbfounded: I scheduled a peel, yet the way she handed me this product made me feel like she didn't want to go through the effort of treating me. I realize that was not her intention, but that is how it came across. To add insult to injury, the day after seeing her, I promptly called to ask if I could return the product. She said no! I was referred to Elena by my girlfriend, who's entire family and circle of friends all go to this woman, it seems. I can tell you right now. I'm a man, and a manly man. I hate the idea of skin care. In no way at all does the idea of a "facial" sound fun and exciting to me. After reading reviews of Elena, I set my expectations higher than what I should have. I made a consultation to meet with Elena and to see what she would recommend for my skin (scarring, uneven texture, etc). The office was nice, and her work space was relaxing, but I was extremely offended when she looked at my skin to tell me I had a mite on my face called "demodex". I have never even heard of this, so she told me there was nothing she could do for me and I needed to seek a professionals help. I left extremely upset, but I decided to see a dermatologist to see if what she said was was actually true. I went to THREE different dermatologists and an esthetician, and they all said that there was absolutely no signs of "demodex" on my face. After being consulted with multiple professionals, I would really think otherwise before taking the advice of somebody who cannot diagnose their client, especially with something that can be taken to offense. Based on my experience, I'm not quite sure if Elena is equipped to work with clients who have troubled skin or problematic skin. Personally, I would never want to go back to somebody who misdiagnosed or mistreated a patient with foul advice. If Elena works for you, great by all means, but this was my experience, and it really took a toll on my self esteem. read more

I discovered Elena last week because I was in need for some ear candling/coning services to remove excess wax from my ear canals and relieve some sinus pressure. It was a very clean, gentle and relaxing experience. Ear candling has been around since ancient times and is VERY effective if you suffer from chronic sinus issues and I also hear it is ideal for vertigo/dizziness. So, sensitive as I am to my beautiful skin, I haven't actually ever used Elena's facial services. But my wife has been going to Elena monthly for about five years, following her around from place to place because of the quality of her products, the individual attention Elena gives her, and the way her skin feels - and looks - after going to see Elena. I've been going to Elena for a while now...3 or 4 years? I don't remember. It doesn't matter. I went to her based on a referral from a good friend because my face was breaking out badly for the first time and I was already in my late 30s!!!! Elena did a couple harsh peels and recommended a couple products, but also gave me the option to not use the products because she felt the peels would help either way. IT DID! I see her monthly for maintenance and have been very happy. The only reason I'm writing a review is because I read the review from the lady that commutes from Cedars. She is misleading in her review on several levels! First, to accuse that all the good reviews (there are so many!) are "fake" because she asks her clients to write them is completely false. Elena didn't ask me to write this, but even if she did, would a great review be considered "fake" because she asked me to write one? That's not the definition of "fake"...duh! Second, yes, Elena takes cash and offers an incentive if you pay by cash. BUT, she has never NOT been willing to take credit. If you are getting a 10% discount for paying cash, why wouldn't you pay that way? I've often shown up without cash and she accepts credit without hesitation. But, she's also very trusting and will allow you to just owe if she regularly sees you. Again, misleading in the review to make it sound like she ONLY takes cash. Third, from her story about running to the bank and driving from RPV, my guess is she was later than just 10 minutes. I've been late 20 mins and she still squeezed me in! It caused her to be late on her next appt and she apologized profusely to that client, but she didn't cancel. I think there's more to the story. Finally, she calls Elena rude and unprofessional. Well, hello, pot...have you met kettle? You just claimed on a public site that she and her husband are going to therapy and that she needs more. If she and her husband are really going to therapy, you have NO right to put that out there for everyone to read and if she isn't going to couples counseling, then you're the rudest and most unprofessional POS! No, actually, either way, you're just an awful human being! Your story is too detailed and extreme, which usually indicates lying. But, even if it's the truth, I still stand by what I said...you're just not a very decent human being, Ms. Marcy! It's obvious there are some former customers who feel they have been wronged by Elena and, instead of just looking within themselves, they would rather play victim and try to hurt someone's business and reputation. Elena is by far the best esthetician I have EVER come across. I am super super picky about what I put on my face ever since I broke out with cystic acne which caused hyper-pigmentation and acne scars on my cheeks and jawline. About two years ago I tried microdermabrasion at a spa in beverly hills via a living social special and it was literally a waste of time and money. I was put in a room, scrubbed and sent on my way. The customer service was horrible, maybe because I had a living social coupon :/. After months of research on various peels I stumbled upon the Vi peel which is safe for african american skin. ( nc45 in MAC makeup). After reading soooo many positive reviews about Elena, I took a chance and called her up. She agreed to meet with me for a consultation for FREE. What won me over is the fact that she could tell that im a pimple popper and I dont use sunscreen. (bad habit). She advised she would not apply the Vi peel until I changed my habits and used sunscreen religiously because she was concerned about me getting the best effect from the peel. A month later I scheduled my appt with Elena and she explained the entire process step by step and she made the experience so comfortable for me. People, this was my entire face we were dealing with. I was a nervous wreck. But somehow I knew I was in the best hands. With the Vi peel there are a few days of peeling and Elena explained exactly what would happen and what to look forward to. On day 4 ( today) she called me to check on the progress!!! She gave more tips and reminded me of the do's and dont's. This woman is a godsend. Although its still too early to see a major difference, I can see and feel softer skin on areas that have already peeled. I am so glad I made the choice to trust Elena. Her prices are lower than any other office I researched, she was flexible with her schedule, she gives you the honest truth(doenst try to upsell you on products) and shes gonna tell you what mistakes you've been making and what you need to improve. I visited Elena two months ago for the first time. I had light case of acne and skin irritation going on and was desperate for change. Calling literally down the yelp list on a Saturday for an appointment at any place for a facial, I got lucky that Elena answered my call. Long story short I walked in and she welcomed me and made me feel comfortable. She recommended a microdermabrasion and peel and I added the facial. Also I gave her the permission to remove all pimples. The next day my skin looked horrible I have to say, but she had warned me. I started peeling for two days and my skin cleared up right away. I ended up going every two weeks on and off with microdermabrasion and facial. My face is super soft now and barely any pimples or irritation. I m going tomorrow again to get some work done. I have purchased a series of five chemical peels to deal with some facial darks and dry spots and I am already seeing a lot of improvements in my skin tone and look after 2 of them. You also added microdermabrasion to increase the effectiveness of the peel at no extra cost (which was unbelieveably low to begin with) You use only high standard products, do not push extra products just to increase your margins, work with whatever products I am already using, and give deep discount on other services.
