The place isn't bad but dated. Check in room longer than it should as well as check out. However, everything worked and the place was clean! Stayed for two nights and zero issues. I'd go back as there were no specific items to really complain about. read more

Came day after Valentine's. Great service, ate in the bar area. The salad was great, good textures and flavors would've been better as a spinach salad not iceberg lettuce. Got the tusk salad without the red onion. Then the bananas foster cheesecake, super rich buttery flavor could hardly take the picture because I couldn't keep from eating it. Hair and blood stain in the sink, crown royal nip bottle in bathroom drawer, bugs on the floor, a layer of dust on furniture. Not Impressed!

Really nice place to stay off of the beaten path. Though the area in general outside of Truth or Consequences is remote in general. The rooms are modestly priced -clean and comfortable. The King bed was newer with plenty of pillows. The room had a newer flat screen Visio TV and plenty of channels. View of the lake and distant hills is very pleasant -and the quietness in the late evenings and early morning is really amazing. Front desk staff were friendly and check-in was quick. The restaurant and bar were really great. Wait staff are friendly and made great drink and food recommendations. Over the several days I was there I had the opportunity to try several of the meal offerings -many of them made with Hatch green chilis (local from Hatch NM -which is pretty close) and they were excellent. The chili rellenos are the best I've ever had; If you're into Margaritas I recommend the "Ivory" margarita which they make with Patron Tequila. read more

This is a nicely updated lodging with nice thick towels, linens and a good bed. The AC was loud, however. Restaurant hours didn't work and we were part of good sized British Car club get together (57+/-cars meaning 100+people)......not smart to loose that dinner business. They did have a cocktail hour with typical fare, with the exception of the white bread...like Wonder Bread type of sandwiches..who eats that kind of stuff? That was gross and not a good filler....other than that a nice place to stay. read more

I wasn't expecting much going to a small town in New Mexico, but we had a great experience. The inn could use some updating -- bathrooms are outdated and small. Other than that, the bed and pillows were comfortable, the room was clean, and everything was quiet. I would recommend. read more

Had a great room facing the lake. The hotel was very clean with a nice swimming pool . There is also a good resteraunt and bar.

Had dinner with a group of 10. We are from all over the USA. Everyones dinner was excellent. So good we asked for the chef to come out and take a bow and we all gave him a big cheer. The Mexican dinners were outstanding. The service was cheerful and right on. It was a lovely evening. read more

I have read some of the reviews about this place and was sure we were going to have a good meal. I will tell you that I only wish I had taken a picture. This was one of the worst meals of the year. I had Enchiladas and Steak dinner with rice and beans and a salad. Oh and by the way you would think with an empty restaurant service would be pretty quick. It took the server 15 minutes to to take our drink order and another 15 to 20 minutes to take our dinner order. We got our salads again about 15 minutes later and not only were the salads warm but not very well put together. Two minutes later our main corse arrived. The plate was arranged pretty well, steak on top of 3 enchiladas with rice and beans with a nice little lettuce garnish. At this point I was thinking ok the salad was a fluke. Thank god, then I moved the steak off the enchiladas and to my surprise the enchiladas were swimming in what was easy a cup of oil/grease and as the meal cooled a bit the enchiladas became un-edible. I tried the rice and it was evident that it was just rice mixed with canned enchilada sauce, (Pretty Bad) and the beans were beans (very bland). So I put the plate aside and focused on the steak. If I were judging the meal on the steak alone I would have given the experience 3 stars. The steak was cooked properly (rare) a little to much ground pepper but over all good steak. When I brought the grease and my dissatisfaction with the meal, we were told that all red chile sauce was made this way and without asking if we were finished she starting picking up the plates and cleared the table. Next I got the bill. At that point being fully disgusted with this establishment I paid the bill and left. If you are in the area and are tempted to try this restaurant, my advise would be to go across the street to Casa Taco. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesday but the Brisket Tacos are some of the best I have had the pleasure to eat. read more

Ivory Tusk Restaurant attached to the Elephant Butte Inn has the slowest kitchen I've ever seen. Prepare to wait for your food, even if there's very few in the dining room. Been several times and it takes forever for your order to arrive. However, the Sunday Brunch is outstanding. read more

Food is good. Staff is friendly. Good selection. Their Sunday morning buffet is GREAT.
