There was no response on text or through phone calls, no emails sent, no communication. Needs of respect and care went out the door with the old owners leaving. Next, the tenants were called from a restricted number and told to pay with a money order, check, Cash App or Apple Pay and our EFTs and credit cards would not be honored. This was on the 2nd of the month after rent was due. No new contracts were signed and no notice given for these changes. When I was able to reach someone they were extremely rude and said they chose not to care about our lack of access to our units while the electricity was off. There is no skills of empathy or communication. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I can only imagine how it will go downhill from here on out.

Nobody answered, nobody was available to help. If it weren't for the sheer grace of a random Good Samaritan who stopped to shovel and pull us out, we would have been completely stranded. What makes this infuriating is the absolute lack of accountability and communication from the staff. The girl who checked us in and took our money didn't say a single word, offer a map, or give any warning about the driving conditions near the water. As a state park, it is incredibly irresponsible not to warn paying customers and New Mexico residents about these massive sand traps. Total safety hazard and zero customer service. Avoid this place.

A quiet, family, run RV park just on the edge of Silver City, New Mexico. This RV park offers…read moreapproximately 25 sites all with water and power. Reservations can be made with an on line form, but at the end of the day all reservations are finalized over the phone. No confirmation emails are provided by this business. Upon arrival we were met at the check-in office by an individual in a golf cart, who guided us directly to our campsite. The campsites are fairly close together, however a row of brush/trees does offer a bit of privacy. At arrival we were also provided the camp guidelines/rules that outline the number of items that are not posted on their website nor were we informed when we phoned for the reservation. A couple of very important items that are not mentioned on the website is that there is only one combined toilet/shower facility for the entire campground. While this may work for big rig RVs. this does not work for many. I think it's very important to note for anyone looking to stay at this location that the single bathrooms/shower is not handicapped accessible should they need that type of accommodation. There are no outdoor fires or charcoal barbecues permitted, even during low fire season, propane only. If you do not have a propane grill, they were offering rentals and/or the free use of a community space for grilling. It should be noted that the owners reside on the property and they had a charcoal grill and charcoal, which is contrary to their own rules. We were also noted at check-in, that once we had checked in, we could not change our reservation and there would be no refunds if we chose to shorten our stay. Having a pop-up camper, we typically rely on campground amenities, such as public bathrooms and showers; this RV park having only one combination bathroom and shower for the entire campground, which also is a little outdated and quite frankly could've been a little cleaner. While limitation of only one facility was not a problem while we were here it did delay our departure, as only one of us could use the facility at a time. While this may work for some, had we known about the bathroom and shower situation beforehand we would not have booked this location. There are a number of washers and dryers available for use with payment. Games, cards, etc. we're available for campers. Other than the washing facilities, games, and a gathering place that was enclosed there's really not many more amenities at this location. There are no nearby trails, bike paths or running paths. Attempts for a morning run through the nearby neighborhood resulted in being chased by loose dogs! The public road to the facility can be a little rough in some spots particularly if you are pulling a trailer. The family was pleasant and they do offer a complementary barbecue on Saturday nights if you happen to stay in the area and there is nice socialization among the camp regulars. It does appear that a number of the campers at this location are here for longer term rentals and have larger campers that do not require use of the public facilities. While there is restaurants and shopping within 10 to 15 minute drive, there is absolutely nothing within walking distance. I would strongly encourage this business to post the information on their welcome documents in the website, so that it's crystal clear for customers as to what they should expect. I would also encourage this business to provide confirmation emails that reiterate the information noted above. I typically rely on reviews for alot of my choices as to where I stay when I go camping. I also hope that the business owners enhance their website information, and pricing structure, to allow customers expectations and what they provide to align.

This was a destination day for us from Silver City. 2 hours plus one way…read more Well worth it. Built with stone and mud and still standing. They lived in the natural caverns that they walled in. And then divided again into rooms or areas connected by openings. One picture is a remaining crib to retain cultivated corn, now all husks. But corn then was small, about the size of a first finger. The area parallels a flowing creek that supported a clan group of about 60. They walled it in over 5 years and remained about 30 years until the 24 year drought and left as a group. This is only for public guests that can walk and climb. A free day. Uneven terrain and at least 3 ladders to peer into a room or living Area Excellent 1/2 day.

You can leave this campground anytime (insert boomer Hotel California Dad joke here), but you can't get back in. How do they accomplish this? The road into the campground is gated. The gate is locked on one side (driver's right) and the other side is open, BUT it has those one-way spikes like the rental car agencies have. This is brutal. We were here trying to do rock climbs in the Organs and we had to SPEED back into the campground to not miss the 6pm cutoff. It made it impossible to enjoy the lovely eateries and breweries in Las Cruces so...we chose not to sleep here for multiple nights and just leave our tent setup. Having said all that, this campground is immaculate. It's one of the nicest public campgrounds I've stayed at. Every site has a fire ring, a grill, a picnic table WITH a minipavillion, and a flat area to pitch a tent. To top it all off, it's only $7 a night and has amazing views of the Organ mountains! My guess is that this area has problems with rampant vandalism (many of the Organ mountain trailheads are also locked from 8am to 6pm) and is maybe understaffed, so this is their solution to the issues. If you go to bed early and are really good at cooking in a campground, this is the spot for you. If you're the type of person that likes big days in the mountains followed by hiking out by headlamp followed by crispy brews in town...look elsewhere.

This is the closest campground I found near White Sands; it was about a 40 minute drive. The stars were beautiful. Make sure to bring exactly $7 cash as you deposit it into the box to get a permit. There were picnic tables and grills for each campsite. We had a nearby garbage bin. The vault toilets were surprisingly very, very clean. The Pine Loop Trail was a lovely four-mile hike that starts right by the campground. It takes you up into the mountains, and it took us about two hours to complete. There were many false trails that weren't marked. It's rated as moderate, although I think it was more challenging.

It is on the site of an area where several million years ago, a volcanic eruption threw numerous large boulders on to the landscape. The park has driving areas and hiking trails around and between these boulders. We spent several hours waking through and had lunch in the park at the picnic area. A high hundred bucks a night in a very inexpensive part of New Mexico, a room with no amenities and…read moreno restaurants, etc., nearby -- not even a coffee pot or a small fridge in the room. No TV, No internet (that's not their fault, I had to drive all the way into one part of Truth or Consequences to get reception). And most of all, bugs all over the room, most of them dead. In the corners, in the bathtub... Spiders, too. Creepy as heck. I'd expect to pay maybe $45 or $50 for the room, minus the bugs. They'll charge your card before you even stay there, and watch it, if there's a problem, it'll be very hard to get your money back. Plus side: beautiful area, atop the canyon overlooking beautiful Elephant Butte reservoir. Can't ask for more than to gaze out at the landscape with the butte in the middle. Easy access to the marinas lakeside for boaters, fishing, etc. my room faced the back, a gravel parking lot, but it was easy to hike up the hills in the old state park and enjoy the view. Rooms are small, with space only for a double bed and a couple of bedside tables/lamps, and a few extra feet all around the bed. Not even a chair to throw your jacket on. Bathroom in small adjoining room. Two people would be tight in there, especially for more than a night or two. Has good A/C. Room is tidy and has nice old wood flooring. Building used to be engineering offices when Elephant Butte Dam was built. The Butte and the lake are nearby and beautiful from there. I met a nice groundskeeper who helped me get checked in and circumvent the entire, confusing and weird process of having to find a marina about a mile away down the canyon in order to get the key. The 'lodge' i stayed in and nearby kitchenette cabins have seen better days, but are supposedly in process of upgrades and restoration now, since it is no longer a State Park and is privately owned. My room was one of the restored ones. BIG WARNING: They'll try to keep your money. I checked out at 8AM on day 2 of my two-day reservation because, well, paying top dollar of $100 a night for a small room full of bugs (not to mention no amenities) was just adding too much insult to injury. Yuck. I drove to the nearest town to get cell reception and called the office to inform them of this, and "Rick" said ok. Two days later, my bank statement shows they charged me for the second night! Thereafter ensued a frustrating, really upsetting conversation on the phone with Rick, who insisted they were going to charge me for the 2nd night even though I did not stay there, (because, BUGS). He flat out lied to me that an "inspection" had shown no bugs, and told me to "call next week" if i wanted to speak to the owner about it, but the guy wouldn't do anything to change it anyway. Upshot, this was a belligerent and rude gentleman and he was not going to back out the charges. I wasn't even insisting that I didn't want to pay for the one night i'd stayed there. So, what happened? Bottom line is that I told him that I was going onto Yelp and any other review sites I could find and write a review telling everyone about this. That gave him pause and he abruptly said he would contact his boss and call back. I then got on the phone with my bank to file a complaint and get their help in backing out the charges. Completely upsetting and so much crap to deal with. Half hour later, Rick called back and said they would back out the charges and apologized. Listen, if it hadn't been for the threat of exposing this nefarious policy and behavior at DamSite Resort, I'd have wound up paying $215 for one night in a small room with bugs and not much else. I camped here for a change of pace while driving across country on I-10. I found this place by…read moresearching yelp for campgrounds from my iPhone ap while on the road. Great find! There are a couple of things you will want to know if you find this the same way I did. First, note that the map/directions that this yelp site gives you will NOT take you to the campground (it takes you to what must be a BLM office in Las Cruces). UPDATE: I submitted the correct address (Aguirre Springs Road) to Yelp. If that is the address that shows up, it is correct. The Marquess Street address is the incorrect one. These are the directions copied and pasted from the Aguirre Spring website: Location / Access The Aguirre Spring Campground is located on the east side of Organ Mountains, east of Las Cruces in Dona Ana County. Take U.S. 70 for 14 miles east of the I-25/U.S. 70 interchange in Las Cruces, then turn south on the Aguirre Spring Road (1.1 miles after San Augustine Pass) for six miles. At mile 4 the road becomes a one-way loop and climbs steeply. Next thing to note is that the only facilities are toilets. They were clean and well kept. These restrooms do not have sinks or mirrors. There are no showers and there is no water at the campsites. You can fill up your water containers at the campground host's site which is right on Aguirre Spring Road as you start driving in. The sites have picnic tables and grills and some have fire pits. There is a loop of campsites that are off to the right of the camping pay station. Those sites are pretty close together, and there were several families camped up there, but they are right at the base of those gorgeous rock mountains. I bypassed this loop and drove down the road a little further and camped in a spot on the left a little ways passed the hiking trail (which is on the right). I loved my spot. I pitched the tent under shady tree. A restroom was close-by. I went for a trail run/hike the following morning. A very well spent $3!
