SO much more friendly and welcoming that I chose to give up the $100 certificate I'd have gotten if I had all 3 initial mileage checkups done where I started, all of which are included in the lease. But I had dreaded going back, What went well at Hendrick Toyota's service department? Pretty much everything. The service manager who took care of me at Hendrick, and goes by "D", was great. He was very customer-service oriented...welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, attentive to detail, gave me a tour around the dealership area where I would be waiting, pointed out all available amenities, and offered me a cold bottled water without having to be asked. That may sound like a small gesture, but based on my experience where I leased, it isn't. I actually felt like a valued customer. And I felt confident D would take good care of my car, and do all the required checks and services for the 5K appointment . After it, he also patiently went over many of the buttons and controls that were still unfamiliar to me after the hurried and cursory explanation i received the day I picked up my new car. And despite having spent many hours at the previous dealership during the process from test drives to closing the deal, and having made an actual appointment for pickup with my salesperson, none of the idle sales people in the lobby, or the front desk attendant, greeted me, knew me at all, or had a clue why I was there. And I never saw my sales person again. I hope my experience at Hendrick wasn't just a "one-off," and that my future appointments there can be scheduled with D, whose words and actions gave me faith that his goal is first and foremost, great customer service. My best advice, if you want to have a customer-first and reasonably pleasant car purchase (or lease) experience, don't go to Olathe Toyota.

They are still expecting $3,000 to $5,000+ for basic service visits, but they will only pay for one credit card terminal for 8 to 6 service advisors to use leaving them all huddled around waiting. On top of which it apparently runs everything as debit so if you have an actual credit card they are saying the charge won't go through without a PIN which on a normal credit card is a cash advance which charges MUCH more intrest. So the same card you used 6 months ago is now not acceptable as payment to them. Then the 12 year old service advisor will live down to the Gen Z stereo type and ask YOU want to do to solve their broken systems problem.

Ryan told us that he would be out of office Thursday, and that the vehicle would be going into the shop on Friday for reconditioning prior to sale. No word from any salesperson Thursday, no word on Friday. Multiple calls to Ryan on Friday and Saturday went unanswered. Calling the dealership on Saturday asking to speak to a salesperson somehow transferred me to Ryan, who then informed me that he had sold the vehicle Friday morning, now citing a previously undisclosed policy that sales cannot roll over month to month, even though we had agreed to purchase prior to the end of month. Save your time and money, work with an ethical and up front dealership.

I have been trying to trade my truck in on a Tesla as I commute and gas is getting way too high. I had an original offer for my truck from Carmax of $19,600. Based on this I ordered the Tesla I wanted from a suburb of Chicago last week. It's a 7.5 hour drive. I understand that shipping doesn't work that way, and it's loaded on a truck that goes and picks up other vehicles, so it takes time. Fine. However, my offer on my truck has expired twice. The first time they re-bid it for $18,400. Now the second time they have rebid it for $17,400. Their offer is only good for 7 days, and they do everything to ensure you cannot have your next car in that 7 day time frame unless you buy something they already have. Classic way of getting you in the door, then renegotiating the terms of the deal. Just be aware of this sales tactic when you start doing business with Carmax. I guess Carvana's offer was a lot closer the first time. I may go with them, and choose honesty over this terrible sales tactic. Update: I got a text that my car had arrived at Carmax at 9:30 a.m. It is now 3:42 P.M. and nobody has contacted me to come and finish the deal. I can't imagine what's taking so long, as I'm busy the next 2 days. Carmax really isn't making this convenient. More to come.
