We needed someone to pull some drywall off of some walls and a false ceiling up in our attic that was left up there when we remodeled our house in 1995, because we are blowing in some new insulation and that would have really hindered the efficiency of the blow-in. I couldn't do it myself because I'm in a wheelchair. After contacting two people who I know well but not getting any kind of timely response, which was disappointing, I turned to Yelp and found Eli the Handyman. After reading the reviews I sent an email on 10/22 with our needs. Well within the promised 24 hours I got a reply and had an appointment scheduled for 10/25 for Vladimir to come out and give me a quote! He came and was extremely nice. He climbed up in the attic and checked things out. The quote for the work was very fair and I scheduled the work to be done on 11/4. Dana called on the 4th and said he was running early and that he was on his way. (Nice!) When he showed up and saw the extent of the work, he determined that it was a two-man job and that it was under-bid. (Not so nice!) He didn't throw Vladimir under the bus, but this task was a bit unusual and required more work. He called Eli and they determined a higher quote for the work, but promised that they wouldn't exceed it, and if it came in lower as they completed the work, they would adjust accordingly. We were disappointed and a little skeptical but understood. They couldn't get us on the schedule again for another 8 days, so that was disappointing, too, but understandable because it involved two of their crew. Today 11/12 came around and again I got a call from Dana saying he was early and on his way. (Nice!) He prepped the area for the task, and when Vladimir arrived, they blitzed it and got things done very quickly and thoroughly. And, they honored the original quote!!! (Extremely nice!) Dana and Vladimir left the place in great shape, especially after hauling out a boat-load of drywall. Both guys were great to work with and we will not hesitate to call on Eli the Handyman again. By the way, I need to give Patricia in the office some recognition, too. She was very nice, too, and communicated in a timely manner. I am 100% satisfied with Eli! From the beginning they were responsive, providing an estimate within 1 hour of my request. They also quickly responded to all follow-up questions. It was very easy setting the appointment date and time. On appointment day they showed up on time and ready to work. We had work done on three interior doors and a bathroom fan. The boys did a fantastic job getting everything in perfect working condition. They are also very diligent about cleaning up after the work is complete. The final bill was almost exactly as quoted; no surprises. I highly recommend them and will be sure to call them when I'm ready to lay an epoxy coating in my garage. This update is in reply to your 7/31/2019 response to my negative review. I decided to cancel the job that involved replacement of a valve in that I was advised it would involve opening a 2'x2' opening in the wall in back of my shower. Upon consideration I determined that this was an impractical approach as it would involve wallpaper replacement. If you'll recall, we discussed this. The only price I was quoted when I stated that all I was going to do was replace the trim was $95. I was not given to understand that installing each piece of the trim I was supplying would have a separate installation cost. In the past I was given to understand your hourly cost was $95, and I did not imagine the job would require more than one man and one hour to complete. I don't know why you chose to send two men. It's true that one of the young men had to drive a mile to the neighboring Home Depot to replace one of the parts that I had originally purchased. I was charged an addition $21 for the part, bringing the actual total of the job to $301. I called you directly to discuss the pricing of the job, as I did not think it appropriate to complain to the two young men who had no authority to respond to a complaint. Am I to infer from your response that paying the bill with which I was presented was not the proper thing to do? Even though I felt the bill was too high I felt obliged to pay it after the work had been done. Eli is only one of the service providers that I have used in the past five years. As I had no intention of requesting his services again, the offer of a $50 credit on future work was of no use to me. read more

Like many of you I read the reviews for Eli and decided to use their services. I have had great success using Yelp for recommendations during our move to Arizona. Not this time. We needed five interior doors replaced in our home. Made arrangements for the work to be done. The guys came out and installed the five doors and handled installing A/C registers. After the work was done the Master Bathroom door was sticking plus we had carpet installed and the doors needed to be shortened. They came our and performed the work for the carpet and one sticking door plus, I paid to have two sliding doors modified to work with the carpet. Things are OK until this point. After the recent rains the Master Bedroom door and the M. Bath door expanded and are not operational at this time. I say this is because the doors were not cut properly in the first place to allow for normal operation. Eli disagrees and claims there is expansion and contraction in a home they cannot control I agree with this statement however, it does not apply at this time. If the doors were cut with the proper gap in the first place we would not be having this problem. If his statement was accurate I would have five doors with problems not two. Long story, shortened. Eli offered to come back out for $65 and fix the problem. Problem here is I do believe I do not owe them anything and they owe me two doors that work. Will I hire Eli's crew again, no. Will I pay his company to handle work I already paid for, no. Eli's company is not the only one that I had to call and get a problem remedied during this move. His company is the first that did not meet my expectations and has tried to charge me for completing a job. It is how a company handles a problem that tells you whether or not you should work with them. Eli's company failed the test in my opinion. After reading the above review, I have thought about the whole situation and changed the review to one star. I was definitely too generous with two. read more

We contacted Eli The Handyman to install two new toilets and an under-sink water filter. Patricia was very courteous in answering our questions and setting up our appointment. We were very happy with both the price and the service we received. Two people came - Joshua and Vladimir and they were very timely - able to come a little earlier than the originally scheduled time, which worked out perfectly for us. We found them to be courteous, polite, friendly, professional and very capable. Everything went efficiently and smoothly, and for the water filter, they were also able to remove an old saddle valve fitting that punctured the copper pipe before the shutoff valve and install a new shutoff valve for us. We had been concerned about that valve and were very happy it was properly taken care of. Based on this experience, we'd definitely recommend Eli the Handyman. read more

Eli came over to complete some work that I just did not have enough time to finish. Setting an appointment was simple- I sent an email, a few photos, and by the end of the day I was able to set days for the work to be completed and an hourly quote. Eli and his assistant came on time and actually completed the work faster than expected, which saved me a little cash. They even cleaned up everything after they were done. I have hired Eli 3 times now to repair items in my home and we've been overly satisfied with the work and cost each and every time. Our 1st repair was to have ceiling fans installed in our kitchen and bedroom, where none existed. This was in 2013, shortly after we bought our vintage (1954) home. We had an extra doorway in our kitchen that wasn't needed and had Eli and his team patch up the hole. It's like it never existed. Gorgeous! We also had a 2-prong outlet changed over to a 3-prong so that we could move our fridge. And, lastly, we had the drain pipes redone in both of our bathrooms along with installation of new faucet fixtures. All of Eli's team were courteous and the worksite left clean. The end price matched the quote, which was totally reasonable. In 2014, we hired him and his team to change out the rest of the outlets in our house, along with changing out the existing light fixture in our guest bathroom. Eli provided the quote and Rudy came out to do the work. Again, the end price was same as the quote. A few months later (which is now), I hired Eli to replace a cracked drainpipe in my master bathroom shower. Originally, he had stated that I would be able to keep my original tile but in the end it had to be destroyed. Eli allowed me to go purchase my own tile for the job and was able to save most of the original tile, while his team only replaced the drainpipe and drain pan in the shower. This was an agreeable compromise. The end result is gorgeous! I look forward to having the rest of my bathroom floor tiled, eventually. This took a total of 2 days. End cost was spot on to the original quote. While this was going on, I found that I had a mold issue in my guest bathroom. Eli wasn't able to help me with the mold issue but he was able to look and the plumbing and determine that a cracked drainpipe (guess the 60 year old pipes go at the same time?!) and a crack in the faucet arm was the cause. On the spot, Eli was able to give me a reasonable quote and was able to complete the job in 1 day. I was then able to hire another company for the mold removal. With a 60 year old house, I'm sure there are other repairs to come up that I'm not able to do. I will always call Eli first for the job. He will be honest and tell you up front if he's able to do the job or not. Quotes are always spot on and the end result is always exactly what you thought it would be, or better. I recommend Eli to everyone, but don't keep him too busy so I can still hire him in the future! read more

I called to have them come out and fix the wood trim around an exterior door. They gave me a quote over the phone that was extremely reasonable, and scheduled for it to be completed the next Friday. I got a call from the guy sent to do the job (not Eli) and he told me he wanted to replace the entire door, seals and all the moulding, and that it would cost about the same but take a few weeks to order everything (there's no way it would cost the same. It's a metal door and the door alone is what they quoted me originally). He also told me to call the office for more details. When I called the office to get an explanation why the work wasn't completed, all I was told was that the Handyman recommended replacing everything not just the wood trim. When I said I didn't want everything replaced and didn't have a few weeks to wait since the house was going on the market, I was told "well, that's what the handyman suggested." I'm not sure if the job was too small or if they were trying to up sell me, but I've had two other handymen look at it (who never mentioned replacing the whole door) and the only reason I went with these guys was because the initial quote was less expensive and they were able to do it in a time frame needed. Now I have to push back my listing date and try to reschedule with one of the other handymen. Total inconvenience. read more

I just recently used Eli for the first time based on reviews I read here on Yelp. I had wanted to install an interior door between our master bedroom and bathroom for years. I still don't understand why modern builders find it acceptable to simply put an archway or empty doorway between these two rooms. Anyway, over the past few years I had called several places to get quotes on getting this project done. It was always just out of my budget, so I put it off. Recently, I decided to just bite-the-bullet and get it done. I called Eli once, and the rest of the communications were through email (which was perfectly fine with me, due to my crazy work schedule). The door I needed, to match the rest of my house, needed to be ordered. I paid the deposit to get the door ordered, and when it arrived a couple weeks later we scheduled the install. Eli and Rudy arrived exactly when they said they would, almost to the minute. They were very professional, extremely courteous, and their attention to detail is admirable. There were no surprise charges, and I paid the remaining balance immediately after they finished, which was only a couple hours after noon. I was generally satisfied with the work that was actually completed, but was VERY disappointed in the estimate process, and the fact that when the tech came up with the quote it was THREE TIMES what I originally got over the phone. I explained that there would be some excavation of my existing conduit, as well as that I THOUGHT it was covered, but couldn't guarantee the condition, and anticipated about a 50% increase from the phone estimate to what I was willing to pay. The Indoor work which the tech told me should be no problem was quoted as more than what I received as a quote for the WHOLE JOB. My only negative is that when they quote you a price - it's pretty expensive. I think they quote worst case scenario. From inception to completion I give Eli the Handyman 5-stars! I requested a quote and Patricia got back to me the same day to let me know the cost. I was having 2 pair of vinyl shutters installed on the front of my home. 1 pair was located on the second story...the other pair on the first story of my home. After I finally received the shutters that I had to order, I notified Patricia that they had arrived and she scheduled me the next day. She provided a service window from 9:00-11:00 for arrival. My dad was actually at the house to assist with this process. They (2 handymen) arrived at approximately 9:10 and were there for 2 hours doing the install. They removed the old wooden shutters and replaced with the new vinyl shutters. They even added extra 'bolting' of the shutters into the stucco by using anchors. They sawed up the old shutters for me and placed them in my trash bin. My dad commented that they did an excellent job. Overall I am extremely happy with the service and the install that Eli the Handymen did for me. I will definitely use them again for any of my home repair needs. Thank you! read more

Eli and his crew came out a few days ago to put in a new vent and microwave, check the pipe for our water line to our new fridge and a dishwasher leak. He called us to let us know he was able to come earlier than the appointment time which was great to give us the option. Eli looked at where the vent would go he explained to us about the electrical and gas line in that area and was very thorough why a new vent wouldn't work in that area, I appreciated the straight forward honesty and we moved forward with the microwave install where it circulated inside. Eli then looked at the pipe behind our fridge explained what was happening and what needed to be replace....he was so nice and said that they would have time to fix it that day(we hadn't booked the time for it originally) , Eli and his crew did a great job fixing the pipe and valve they even fixed the wall they cut into and made sure it was cleaned up and ready for us to just paint over. The experience overall was top notch! They were both very professional, straight forward and honest with all the projects they worked on .
