Stopped by to pick up a quick caffeine hit and they happened to have a specialty right now peanut butter mocha or latte. Unfortunately they can't sub out dairy with non-dairy as the peanut butter milk is already made with dairy. I got to try it anyway, it's really good. The flavor and consistency was done perfectly. Probably one of the best flavored mocha I've had, and I don't even typically like peanut butter. I also like that it's not super sweet. The savory really balances out the sweet. The place is small but very quaint, filled with old styled furnitures and aesthetics. They also have limited outdoor seating too. read more

I've struggled to figure out how to describe the vibe of this place, which combines nicely overstuffed couches with tons of small tables and chairs, an abundance of outlets, and a kind of threadbare dorm-room carpet, in a pleasant little strip mall in downtown-ish Elmhurst. They gave me a strong and large french press full of coffee and it was a great place to buckle down for a couple of hours on my laptop. I wouldn't exactly use the word "cozy" to describe it, but it does manage to be humble and welcoming at the same time. Elijah's is an adorable cafe that can be spotted by the outside seating and red umbrellas. The inside is very homey and decorated with lots of art. It's entertaining to view the artwork while waiting for your coffee order. The staff were friendly and fast! The menu has lots of different options for coffee and non-coffee drinkers. I ordered a strawberry peach mango smoothie that was really good and refreshing. For smoothies, they let you pick out the different flavors yourself. I would definitely stop by again! read more

Cozy store with lots of decoration. Definitely seems well integrated with the community and showcases a lot of community artists! Their drink options are also fun with 17 different flavors. I went with an iced white chocolate mocha for a sugar and caffeine hit. It was well incorporated and coffee flavor was robust enough to still shine through the sweetness. I'll probably try a more basic cappuccino or plain latte next time to better appreciate their espresso. read more

What a little hidden gem! There's plenty of seating whether it be a table or couch. The decor is super cute and staff is friendly. I love walking here for tea. In the summers I love the cold hibiscus tea. Not to much room for sitting. They have a few tables inside. Super cozy. Love the kids artwork from the area schools. They also have about 4 tables outside during the summer. Service was great. Easy to order. read more

I really like coming here. The staff is nice and friendly. The owner is around occasionally also very nice. This is a Christian owned small business, just makes me like it even more. I love seeing the artwork on the walls done by different grade school kids, and how it constantly changes. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is bc occasionally it can be busy and wait times can be long, and then also sometimes...some of the staff isn't always friendly to kids. Wish they had kid sizes - like mini or jr. size cups would make it easier for the kids. Owner was transphobic to my sibling during a job interview. He had his pronouns on his application and she told him right off the bat that she "won't be using those". He still awkwardly sat through the whole interview to be polite (a concept she could never understand). At the end, she brought it up AGAIN saying that she wouldn't honor his pronouns because she's "a Christian" and it went against her beliefs. Only come here if you have time to burn and are willing to correct the employee. If you're looking for reliable, efficient, and effective service this isn't the place for you. Decent food and drink but not enough to make up for the lackluster and rude customer service. We ended up waiting almost 40 minutes for two sandwiches, because one of the employees was handing people the wrong orders. After I intervened and was eventually given the correct order, after quite a while, the employee blamed me! I fail to understand how we're culpable when the employee indicated directly to me with the wrong order and looked me in the eye and said "your sandwich." I'm just glad there was a more experienced employee there willing to resolve the error for us. read more

I met a friend who visits Elijah's on a daily basis. He says he's been going to this and their previous location in downtown Elmhurst for several years. I was comforted by the ambiance of the establishment. Carpeting, a couch, various paintings on the wall, along with artwork from children of the local schools. I don't drink coffee and prefer tea. I had black iced tea, which I savored, along with a blueberry scone. It was a delicious treat for an early afternoon snack while visiting with my friend. While staying at a nearby hotel I "yelped" local coffeehouse and this came up with great reviews. I stopped in and was quickly greeted and order taken for a 16 oz caramel latte with 2%. I was nicely surprised when the bill came to just $5 and some change. The barista made my drink fast and served with a smile. I'm not a coffee drinker, so why stop at Elijah's? Well, the name ..."Specialty Coffee, & Tea." It's the "& Tea" that lured me. And, I was happy I stopped. They have a really nice selection of 'The Republic of Tea' brand tea. I can't speak for all tea drinkers, but many of us prefer choices other than just plain black or green tea. Our voice seems to have been heard ... chanting ... tea is good ... tea is good! As a post script, 20 years ago this place was C.R. Beans. They had the most amazing muffins ... I so miss those. One of my favorite coffee shops to visit. The inside has a cozy welcoming feeling, with plenty of spots to sit and enjoy your drink. They also have plenty of books and games to look through, which I always think is a great addition to any coffee shop. The area by the counter has flyers and posters of local upcoming events, so it's a great place to learn about what's going on in the community. The staff is very friendly and helpful, always willing to answer any questions you might have about flavors or drinks. If you're in the area, definitely check this place out! read more

Tiny space, big taste! There really isn't a whole lot of seating inside, but it's still a cool place to hang out. At the time I was there (a Sat. afternoon) there was quite a young crowd. The guy that was working at the register was very friendly and willing to offer suggestions. He even told me about a punch card they have! Bonus points for sure. I asked for something different that I couldn't get somewhere else. He recommended the Jack-o-lantern which is their take on a pumpkin latte - with white chocolate! I don't even particularly enjoy white chocolate but it actually went really well with the pumpkin. I did have one of the pumpkin butterscotch cookies that people had raved about....unfortunately I wasn't over the mood about them. They were decent, but I probably wouldn't get that next time. You see, I tried a chai latte which I loved but the sweet owner swore that I must return for a mocha, as that's their specialty drink. And now I can vouch that it's very special, indeed! To think, I've been working at my job for 3 years and I've only ever visited DD for my coffee needs. I hit the 'nearby coffee' function on my app this morning to change it up a little and discovered that Elijah's is only 2 miles away. This is officially my new stop when I need a little pick me up or if I have time to kill before work. Although they have lots of drinks that sounded tasty, I decided on the coffee of the month which was the Reese's Latte. A small cost me $4.04, so the price is right in line with the chains. I didn't order any breakfast items but my buddy Grant let me nibble on his white chocolate raspberry scone. The coffee was really good but a little sweet for my taste (what can you expect with a Reese's though?) Next time, I will try one of their other coffee drinks. The scone was really delicious and probably not something I would normally order, but I will in the future! The vibe here is really chill. There's free wi-fi so feel free to bring your iPads or laptops. They also have board games and Bibles, as well as couches and newspapers to relax and enjoy your morning coffee. I'm really glad that Yelp helped me find this place because I prefer supporting local businesses when possible. read more

First, I love they included Tea as part of the name. Yes, I'm one of the tea lovers who go to coffee shops to get the green tea or chai latte. I drove to there by accident. I wanted to go to the one on the First st. but somehow my Map pointed me here. Well, I ordered an iced Chai Latte anyway for the hot afternoon. It is a cozy shop. It is kind of place I could picture myself walking or biking to with my kids in a summer afternoon. Just to get an nice iced tea and then a smoothie for kids. A nice lady took my order and made my drink. I was thinking I could see a few yelp friends here but no one looked familiar to me. So I asked her about it and she said it was in another shop and told me in very detail how to get there. Then said I was entitled for a free cookie. Super nice! The iced Chai latte was sweet, creamy and a bit light on tea flavor. In fact, my 3 yr old finished it later and called it tea milk. She ate the huge cookie in no time. When we first found this place, the coffee was amazing no matter which one I tried. However, one week everyone I knew that went there (on my recommendation) including myself got severely sick. We had all gone on different days throughout the week and had ordered different coffee drinks and all experienced food poisoning symptoms. The only thing that may have been in common was the milk. We hadn't even seen each other in person so, it's not possible it was an illness we passed to eachother. Unfortunately, one really bad experience has us never going back. Well here's a find! Who knew that Elijah's even existed? I needed to meet a friend for a short meeting and looked up on Yelp and found Elijah's. And what a pleasant find it was! It is located on the south side of Elmhurst, in the end of a strip center. Pull open the door and you will find yourself in a homey, coffee shop with sofas, soft chairs and small tables filling the space. The walls are adorned with local artwork that you can purchase and if cold beverages are what you want (say after your little league game) there is a small refrigerator up front that you can grab and go with. We ordered some specialty coffee and tea and I was surprised to see the prices for reasonable and the staff so friendly. They also have pastries available for purchase and while I didn't indulge, those cinnamon rolls were calling to be the entire time I was there! Love when a locally owned business can make a go of it. Leave the Starbucks behind and support local. This place deserves your business! read more

Took me twenty minutes to get to this coffee house. Totally wurf. if you plan on relaxing with your beverage, you can choose from a selection of comfortable mismatched seating and admire the artwork made by the famous local children. I especially appreciate how there are an abundance of outlets. I bet Robert Irvin would hate this place and would take a sledge hammer to it because it feels so dank and shabby, but I personally love the layout. I typically go to coffee shops to be productive and get some work finished but some (mysterious) people actually judge a place by the stuff they serve. I always order the chai tea latte and I was happy with my drink. I do not think I will ever find a place where I will agree with the pricing of a chai tea latte. A large costs just about $4.00 and it came in a soup cup filled 3/4 to the brim. I was a little upset about the space that was unfilled with potential chai tea.
