This is a super cute coffee shop by Elmhurst train station. They have all kinds of drinks, i tried their Berry Matcha and it was really good. Its the perfect place to sit and chill and wait for the train, but if you are running late they are also fast enought to serve you your coffee in time to catch the train. They also have pastries to go for the train ride. They have these really cute tables around the cafe that you should check out as well! Also every drink comes with a motivational/inspirational quote that i feel would help you start your day right. Will come back for sure. Happy Eating /Drinking!

Another favorite must have stop on our Chicago journey!! "When in Rome", as they say. Do not miss their fabulous drinks & sweets!! For real, y'all!!! My iced coconut dream will leave me longing for more on our long trip home. My daughter's crème brûlée latte was equally amazing. Their muffins & scones were also super yummy....but that cinnamon coffee cake could require an intervention if we stayed too long. Definitely should have gotten at least 6 more slices. Sorry we didn't even get pictures of the eats before they were devoured!! We would have liked to explore the whole area a bit more. Guess we will have to return soon!

I wanted to see what the 5 star rating was all about. I love supporting small businesses because they usually make the best products-- this place is not only no exception, but is hands down the most amazing cafe you'll ever have the pleasure of visiting. Aside from rich, flavorful, delectable coffee done to whatever your personal definition of perfect may be, they also offer truly outstanding apple cider. Plus, their flavors are so creative and tasty! You have GOT to try their Toasted S'mores latte-- but if you don't need any caffeine, their fall special for apple cider is the best beverage I've ever had-- and that's coming from a Wisconsinite that used to love visiting apple orchards! In short, no matter what type of drink you're looking for, I can guarantee you will find a new favorite stop in this little train-station shop. All their drinks are hand-crafted with unprecedented quality, and their service will always make you feel welcomed and satisfied. Try this place-- you won't regret it!

Pilot Pete's has the best coffee in town and the staff couldn't be friendlier! I highly recommend, especially if you're taking the train into the city!

Excellent coffee, one of many hidden gems. The service was excellent, great conversation as you wait which is not long.

Pilot Pete in his mobile barista cart

Pilot Pete's mobile barista cart did a teacher appreciation event for our PTA. The service was amazing and fast. The beverages were delicious and served so quickly. The teachers all were thrilled to have a barista in their lounge. Definitely a hit and definitely something we will do again. I will be sure to try their location in the train station too. The cart is definitely worth booking!

Greeted by Pete's dog as we wait for our drinks!!!

Thank you Pete for not only the delicious drinks, but graciously staying open for several minutes after close to accommodate us new patrons. Your drinks were amazing, but your genuine kindness will have us back!!!

Berry Matcha Crush and mini Cinnamon roll

Came with my friend and told them I wasn't going to order anything because I had my free Starbucks birthday drink today. Pete said they go all out for birthdays & that he'd make me a birthday drink. Ordered a berry matcha crush & got this cinnamon roll (and a another fun surprise). One of the kindest people & nicest experiences ever. 100% coming back soon!!

If I'm going to go to a custom coffee shop filled with love, the family staff that is helpful and patient, Pilot Pete's Coffee and treats is certainly where that is at! I recommend the monkey in paradise, mocha with coconut. Thankfully for those of us with dairy allergies they have substitutes.

Never under estimate what coffee can do for you! The fact that I left my house 30 mins earlier to make it to this gem on time! Pete is friendly, likes to converse with the customer, and really wants to know what kinds of drinks you are into. This is located in the Elmhurst metra station..there was easy parking right outside the station. You really can't miss it. It is surprising to me that there are so many coffee shops in downtown Elmhurst, but yet they all are different in taste and ambiance. I had the Handcrafted speciality drink.. Dark Mocha Mission. It was just delicious! I will deff go back when I have some more time to try other beverages. There is a tip box there as well..pick a surprise quote and change your perspective! You can join the VIP Rewards Club for multiple check ins and to earn rewards. *Always always tip your barista..they take the time to make your beverage to your standards :)

Pete has a tip jar for you! Filled with different inspirational quotes

I've been commuting on the Metra from the Elmhurst station every day for the past 6 months and never once got coffee here. Even though the man behind the counter and his shop seemed so inviting, I never stopped. Partly because I already carry so much to work each morning and a hot beverage on the train would most likely end up in my lap and partly because I honestly thought Pilot Pete's was a small vendor "brewing" coffee from a Keurig machine. And in my head, I would just rather get to work and drink the coffee that someone generously makes every morning for free. But au contraire! I was particularly tired one morning and wanted a shot of espresso for a buck and some change. "Would you like an extra shot of espresso on the house?" asked Pete. Is the Pope catholic? Why yes, Pete! I absolutely freakin' would like more caffeine. In the 60 seconds that it took him to make my espresso, my perception about him and his tiny café completely changed. I actually looked inside and noticed that this guy wasn't messing around when it comes to coffee. On top of that, he was so incredibly nice. Have you ever met someone that was almost exasperatingly nice that you start to contemplate your own life and wonder why you're such a miserable duck (replace the "D" with an "F") compared to the person in front of you? That's how I felt after speaking to Pete. Not only did he genuinely ask how I was doing, but he told me to have a "marvelous" day. Why thank you. I will now. Simple kindness goes a long way. And for that you get to be my 500th review. (Note: This may or may not mean anything to anyone but the writer of this review) The double espresso was so concentrated, rich and almost milky in taste. I chugged the drink while waiting for the train and waited for the caffeine to take over my body. It did soon enough and I began to think how much wasted time was spent on much more expensive espresso shots with half the taste. Awesome drink from an awesome guy and his awesome, yet semi-creepy music from the 40's (think Fallout music for all my fellow gaming dorks) he plays on his record player every morning. I am a believer now. Pete-liever?

Let me start by saying that we're a huge fans of small businesses and want to see them succeed…read more I've also worked in plenty of restaurants and coffee shops in my day. Definitely not trying to be a hater. My friend and I were on our way home from Chicago, looked up some bakeries along our route. We stopped here to get some goodies to take home to family, and to snack and have a coffee while we drove 6 hours. My friend ordered: white chocolate coconut latte, 2 donut holes, a strawberry, a salted caramel, and a pink velvet cupcake. I ordered: chocolate pretzel iced latte, a big chocolate chip cookie, tropical fruit (?) danish, coconut, pink velvet, and French silk cupcakes. I'd say between the two of us we probably spent $60+? Walking in the shop is adorable and colorful, an employee had a brightly colored tie dye shirt on and we said hello to them first, commented on how much we liked their shirt, and barely got a response back, let alone a greeting. The employee at the counter wasn't rude but definitely not overly eager to greet or offer up information. Questions were answered when we asked, that was it. When I received my iced latte I asked if they had any straws and just got a head shake in response. Totally fine with no straw, but my friend found a stir stick for me, which was honestly the main reason I wanted a straw so I could stir up what was clearly sitting on the bottom of the cup. Lattes were fine. We tried the chocolate chip cookie in the car and the texture was good, crispier on the edges and the middle was chewy enough. But it tasted very bland, so we didn't finish it. A little while later we decided to try the donut holes, they had good flavor but they were so dry and crumbly, presumably because they were sitting out in the open air, who knows for how long. Also didn't finish those. Even later we decided to try the salted caramel cupcake because I'd read on the case that they had Swiss meringue buttercream so I was really excited about that, and thought for sure this would be where they would excel. While the flavor of the cake was fine, I wouldn't say it tasted like salted caramel, there was some kind of cream in the middle that was good, again not salty or caramely. But that was the heaviest, most dense cupcake I've ever had, and not in a good way. The buttercream was good, and the caramel drizzle on top did taste salty. My husband was so excited that I was bringing home that tropical fruit danish and the coconut cupcake. We tried the coconut cupcake together and again, it had a lot of actual coconut in the batter, it was dense but also dry. We abandoned the cake and ate buttercream, which was good but not coconutty. So we moved onto the French silk cupcake. This cake had a great texture, light and soft, good flavor, some kind of chocolate mousse in the middle was good too. Again, good buttercream, but the top had a bunch of dry, flavorless pie crust chunks all over it. I understand that it was supposed to mimic a French silk pie, but it was such a good cake without the crust chunks. My husband had his pastry today (next day) and though dry he said the middle was good, other than the pineapple in the middle he couldn't taste any other flavor. We tried the pink velvet after dinner tonight and again with the super heavy and dense cake texture, no real flavor, but the cream cheese frosting was yummy. I cannot say how the other cupcakes were, as my friend was so disappointed in the one we shared and the report we gave her about the ones we tried, that she hasn't eaten them. Ultimately the French silk one was the only item that was eaten completely. Keep making that buttercream, it was the best part of everything we bought. I sincerely hope your employees weren't having a hard day, I try to be understanding that you never know what someone is going through, but that's the only reason I can think of for them to be so completely disinterested in helping or talking to paying/tipping/polite customers.
