I've never had my hair professionally colored, nor have I been to an American based salon before. Groupon: My groupon consisted of color and cut. When I entered the store, the girl who was going to be working on my hair informed me that if I wanted a balayage that it would cost $30 extra, and for the length of my hair, another $20 (on Groupon they constantly advertise balayage, but there is no mention of the extra costs there). My friend who bought the same groupon said she was not charged extra, which is why I decided to give it a try, but low and behold. You know what, that's fine, I've already bought the groupon and was already sitting down. Experience: I asked for a trim of my long hair and a balayage. Trim: I asked for a basic trim, or about 1 inch off. I assume, easy enough. I'm not asking for something really bizarre? She literally only cuts the TOP portion of my hair and straight cut the rest. It's extremely choppy, jagged, and straight up looks like I asked my 10 year old cousin to do it for me. I didn't even realize it was this bad until I saw it today, which is why I decided to write a review. You might ask, why didn't I notice this in the salon or before? You sit facing AWAY from any mirrors at the salon, which is strange to begin with. I hated the haircut from the beginning and thought it was really bad, but I didn't know how bad it was until my mom pointed it out recently. See below for pictures. Balayage: not great, not terrible. I barely see the new color, but it's very similar to what I previously had. During the time the girl was dying my hair, she asked the owner many questions as to how to correctly balayage, what's the correct technique, how to put foil on, etc. she did not seem like she completely knew what she was doing and this should've been my sign. Sadly, my hair was curled at the end so even when looking in the mirror, it was hard to tell there was any issues. This entire experience makes me wary to try any new places again. Especially anything off of groupon.

The stylist was able to replicate the style from an image I showed her. I had the perfect wedding hair. However, I did have some trouble with the cut originally. I noticed a lot of split ends only days after my haircut and realized that the razor she had used had given me some really crazy split ends. Some of my hairs were split three inches up! After learning about my trouble with the haircut, she very kindly offered to help fix my split ends by giving me a bit of a trim and a hair treatment. I think my hair is in much better condition after this recent visit! I really appreciated that the stylist offered to help fix my hair because I felt like she was really taking pride in her work and that she really wanted me to be happy.

It took me 5 years to find someone in Atlanta who could give me a great cut. So, when I moved to Athens 4 years ago, I continued to make the drive to Atlanta to see my stylist. She recently moved to California. Gak! Fortunately, it didn't take me another 5 years to find a great stylist in Athens. After trying another salon for a few months, I decided to give DRee at DRee & Co. a try. She did a FANTASTIC job. Thanks to DRee, I'm back to having a fun, sassy, short cut that I love. She really  listened to what I liked/what I didn't like regarding makeup and hair and she was very flexible if I asked her to add or remove makeup. She is so kind and was very easy to talk to during the trail and on my actual wedding day. She did an amazing job on my bridesmaids and mother also!
