This is my go to now in the Birmingham area. A must visit place even if you have to battle through 280 traffic. A true taste of the middle east in Alabama. The food was fantastic! My husband and I were there on a Monday night around 7. It had been super hot that day so it was a little toasty inside but that didn't stop anyone from eating. The place was almost completely packed on a Monday! The owner Eli took our order and was very friendly. He recommended the Kafta plate for my husband. Lots of flavor! I had the Chicken Shwarma which was not as flavorful but was very tasty. The pita is very fluffy. A nice change from your typical flat, dry pita. The hummus was the only real disappointment for me. It was just too bland. It needed salt or something but still did the trick. The rice, salad and couscous were solid. I can't wait to go back and try the falafel! The wait staff were very attentive refilling our tea several times. Overall a good experience and I look forward to visiting again! read more

This is the best Israeli food I have ever eaten. My wife and I have visited Israel twice and love the cuisine. We were driving on US 280 east of I 459 looking for one of our favorite sub shops for lunch. Sadly, we found the sub shop had gone out of business. But, my wife noticed Eli's and we decided to try that instead. Best decision of the week! Eli himself is very friendly and concerned for the satisfaction of his customers. He makes his own dishes learned from his grandmother in Israel. The hummus is smooth and creamy. The falafel is absolutely the best I have ever tasted, even in Israel. The Shawarma is incredible. The gentlemen behind the counter was very friendly and made some great recommendations on what we should order. I had the meat combination plate and my wife ordered the vegetarian plate.
