We tried this restaurant last week and had it delivered again tonight. It is amazing! The vegetables are fresh and crisp...the pita crisps on top make the salad. The sauces are better than I've had before at other places. There isn't anything that isn't the best version that I've enjoyed. You have to try this place.
First off, the food was EXCELLENT, and the guy with the glasses who helped me order was SO NICE and helpful. I ate here for lunch with my 11 year old and he helped me order. We ended up sharing the chicken shawarma wrap with a side of falafel and the cost was $21, but there was a good quantity of food. Definitely get the pickles on the wrap or whatever it is you order from here. They are apparently Egyptian pickles and add something magical. I'm not usually one for pickles, but trust me on this! The falafel were shaped like donuts and not like any I've ever had before. They are a little mushier but I was fine with the texture. The outside was extra crispy. Loved that. The spicy tahini was especially good and not very spicy for me but too much for my daughter. The restaurant itself needs a good scrub from top to bottom but it isn't enough of a red flag that I wouldn't go back tomorrow. There's meat on an open spit, so I imagine it's hard to keep a layer of grease off every surface. We will definitely be back!
Great beef shawarmas! Order the quesadilla shawarma for the kids. Those are also delicious. Wish there were more veggies inside of them. Other than that it was tasty. Plenty of seating. Bar tables and booths. People there could look like they love life a bit more than they do but that's not a problem with me.
Ok I never had Shawarma before and I heard this was the best. My daughter had chicken shawarma and I had the beef shawarma. Both of them were fantastic. We had wraps which were surprisingly long. Everything was fresh. We dined in and we saw 30-40 people, mostly take out, pass through the counter while we were there. Its a quite large place with all the prep behind the counter. The chicken and lamb "rolls" are on spits behind the prep counter. The cook slices from those to make a entree. I like gyros but this was a seasoned upgrade. The wrap is different from pita. I'll crave this until I come back. The place is a couple doors down from Hotel Indigo. Parking is on the street. Try it. I think the flavor is fun and unique.
This establishment offers lots of selections and from what I've seen in the reviews and what I experienced myself, the food is always fresh and delicious! The young man running the register was helping in giving information about the menu options. My son got the kofta wrap. It came with a generous portion of fries, and also a side of spicy mayo, aïoli... Perhaps. I got the famous chicken Shawarma bowl and man ph man that I love that! It was a generous portion that I was able to make into two meals so a great value as well. With a beautiful weather out, we decided to eat outside on one of the two picnic tables. While we were there, we had a few folks come up or walk by and ask for money, i don't personally mind that as I've had my share of struggles in life. but others may find it very uncomfortable. For this reason alone I'm not giving this review five stars. Of course there's the option to eat inside as well but location can make or break an establishment.
Been having this place bookmarked to try for a while and got the opportunity to try it over the weekend friendly service and I didn't feel rushed I didn't know what to try so I went with the basic chicken shawarma wrap and I added lettuce the flavors are very bold I realized middle eastern & Mediterranean food is similar but the flavors are very different I didn't really enjoy the wrap but I'm eager to try something different parking is a hassle it the establishment is so cute great ambiance I saw a couple of families gathered together and I loved that my only complaint would be the wait time they didn't seem to be that busy in the restaurant but I waited over 20 minutes for my wrap I think they have a lot of pick up orders I suggest ordering ahead of you know what you're getting or be prepared to wait and be prepared to search for parking
The food is absolutely AMAZING! Fresh and made to order! Staff is great as well. It was our first time here and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend 10/10! Can't wait to try more dishes!
While on a road trip stopped in Birmingham for the night and came across this place online, decided to give it a try. and absolutely loved it, first off this is a nice clean restaurant, with a great ambiance, next the staff is very friendly, and now for the food, we ordered the Chicken Shawarma Bowl, Hawawshi and the Tenders. and honestly I can say the rice bowl was one of the best that I have ever had. the chicken shawarma was perfectly seasoned, and the combination with the Rice, pickled veggies and sauces were just perfect. next we also enjoyed the hawawshi crispy crust with very flavorful beef. overall we enjoyed it
I have heard the best things about this place! I tried it for the first time last week after seeing a coworker order it and her food smelling so delicious! I ordered it the very next day! It is located in Five Points so parking can be a challenge, but it is so good and definitely worth the search for parking! The restaurant itself is beautiful and provides a nice fast casual atmosphere. There were a couple of things on the menu that intrigued me. I ended up going with the sausage bowl. Wow! Parts of the bowl reminded me of a bowl at Cava with the sauces, pickles, rice, and meat. But the flavors were so authentic and different from anything I have ever tried around here! The spices made everything so flavorful, I couldn't get enough of it! The portion size was just right to fill me up. Not too little, and not a ton of leftovers either. The rice, tahini, veggies, pickles, and hummus were all amazing! The sausage was not the best sausage I have had, the texture seemed a bit grainy to me. I tried some of my friend's chicken shawarma bowl. The chicken had some sort of flavor to it that I didn't love maybe parsley? So I will likely try the beef shawarma next time or do without the meat since the rest of the bowl was already a 10/10. They have signage that if you pay in cash, you will save money so I luckily I brought cash with me that day. I had actually left my phone on the counter there while I was paying, and drove off without it. I came back and the staff had it on the charger waiting for me! That is amazing customer service!
Me. Shwarma is an inviting place with plenty of solid options to choose from. We ordered two bowls and the cheese kunafa. The bowls were large and felt like I got a good value for what we paid. Everything in the bowl was delicious, and the addition of the pita chips inside were a nice touch for some extra crunch. The cheese kunafa was also really good. It was unique and I couldn't stop eating it. Love having this place in 5 points!
It was solid and good. Most people at the catered event I attended on Eid liked it. For me it was a bit mild. I would have liked more spices on the meat and rice. Hot sauce was needed. Glad this option is here in Birmingham and halal. Akhi's by the way is not halal. If you keep zabiha please avoid that place. Plus the owner of that place seems rude.
The food here is mind blowing. Everything is flavorful and the meat combined with the rice, salad, and sauces makes this a meal you want to keep eating even once you are full. The portions are large and filling. So far, we have tried the beef with hummus, the wings, the beef and fries bowl, the chicken shawarma bowl (my favorite), and the beef and chicken shawarma wraps. We also tried dessert here; we tried the kanafa and the banana pudding. The kanafa was okay something different to try but we really enjoyed the pudding, it is perfectly proportioned to share with another or eat all by yourself! The restaurant is located near UAB so it's a great place to grab lunch. The restaurant is an incredibly calm vibe, spacious with plenty of seating. The guys working there are helpful and pleasant as well. Will be going back!
My friend and I had chicken shawarma bowls (One has pickles and one has tomatoes). It was so good!!! The garlic sauce on the top was amazing. I will definitely be back!
Delicious Middle Eastern eatery in Five Points South! Fast casual set-up, where you order at the counter and a server brings your order to your table. I highly recommend the beef shawarma bowl. The meat is beautifully seasoned, the rice is aromatic, and the veggies on top blend perfectly. The portion size is generous. You can also get a shawarma wrap instead of a bowl, and what I love about the wraps here is that they use saji bread instead of pita bread. The saji is thinner and makes a perfect vehicle to carry the savory meat and veggies. The fries were tasty by themselves, so I'm definitely going to try the loaded fries next time. The hummus was good as well. But the star among the appetizers was the falafel, served as photogenic little donuts. They were slightly bland by themselves, but served with a tangy dipping sauce that made them much better. The Egyptian rice pudding was delicious, with a crunchy pistachio topping that elevated an otherwise simple dessert. As with most places in Five Points, parking is limited. But the parking situation is a minor inconvenience that is absolutely worth the trouble to dine here. read more
Ive been a few times with coworkers and its consistently good. I got the chicken shawarma bowl and I love how there is a mix of different toppings including crispy pita chips pickes a tomato onion topping and hummus along with big cuts of flavorful chicken. Its a fast casual vibe but the people r nice and helpful. I also tried the falafel which was not my favorite but the loaded fries were very tasty. They also have an option for loaded onion rings which my friend got and he loved. read more

Close by to my office, tried for the first time yesterday. It's order and paid at the counter, and then they deliver to your table bases on the number they give you. We ordered chicken shawarma bowl and load fries with chicken shawarma. I personally think both would have been better if the chicken is more thinly sliced and less chunky. The quantity was good, just the knife work needs some work, haha. The chicken shawarma bowl has a nice variety of ingredients in it. The pita chips in the bowl gets soggy pretty quick, so those would be better on the side. The loaded fries was okay. The fries were cool when we got it even though the outside was still crispy. I neve think cold fries are good though, so I did mention it to an employee. They told me the fries are fresh (which they are, relatively, but still cold) and they are just cold from the sauce. I did not argue with them, owners are always right lol. However, they did end up bringing me a basket of truly fresh fries, it was MUCH better. Overall it was pretty good. read more

I enjoyed the food. I was not impressed by it, and that's ok. Price is high, IMO. A few $ less, and I would eat there more often. Water only bottle, and ofc for a charge. Parking practically does not exist, but that's the whole area. Nice, wide, space. Feels clean and welcoming. A good option read more
I am so glad to have found this place in Alabama! Mr.Shawarma is a great Mediterranean place with plentiful portions and very nice staff. I got to-go, however the food was really good! The chicken shawarma had a lot of meat and had a good portion. I wish that it was spicer and have a little touch of salt. The falafel was also very delicious. I cannot wait to try this place again and try other items from their menu! read more
I've had Mr Shawarma twice now. The first was a bit salty, but still delicious. This time was amazing! I got the beef shawarma bowl and it was so balanced- rice, protein, and veggies. Also got a side of hummus and they have us so much pita Would def go back again soon! read more

High prices but very good flavorful middle eastern cuisine. I got the beef shawarma and a side of falafel. Very hearty portion for the wrap as you get big wrap cut in halves. I really liked the seasoning and flavor of the meat and onions. The falafel was very good too with a nice dipping sauce. I might like Falafel Cafe just a bit better but both are very good. read more

I have been wanting to try Mr. Shawarma since they opened. We went in about 30 mins before closing and the staff was still extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very clean and pretty spacious. The person who helped us said the chicken shawarma sandwich was the most popular so we got that and the beef shawarma. We split the portions so one is pretty large. I personally preferred the beef but both were delicious. We got the regular and spicy garlic aioli on the side. We will definitely be back to try more menu items! read more
10/10 for the service, food quality, and ambiance. I ordered their beef bowl and the portion size was huge! I was able to have it for lunch and latter for dinner. Their hummus was absolutely amazing! I plan to go back just to order that. I also purchased their fresh house made mango smoothie and it was of great quality. Fresh! These guys are awesome! read more

I LOVE MR. SHAWARMA !!! Everyone is very kind, friendly and attentive! The food is hot and fresh and they have a vast menu. This was my first time eating falafel and it was a 10/10. If you're hungry & have a couple bucks, stop by and give it a try! read more

Mr. Shawarma in Birmingham is a legitimate Middle Eastern Restaurant. The food represents delicious and authentic Egyptian/Levantine cuisine! We had an excellent dinner as pictured below. The inside of the restaurant was clean and decorated nicely. The Shawarma meat was seasoned perfectly and the hummus was amazing as well. All cooked right in front of you. Any time I return to Birmingham I will come back for a meal. Plus, the owner was the nicest man! What a great guy. Plenty of parking around. Bring quarters. Five stars. read more

Real wheels of meat! Not pressed meat bought in a cone but real shawarma wheels! That's all I needed to know but then they have interesting sauces like pomegranate molasses. So freaking good! The hommos is rock star! Try it topped with some shawarma. Maybe the best shawarma in Alabama! read more
