The manager was very rude to us this evening. We had been shopping all afternoon for a hoco dress…read more I had no idea the mall closes at 8 pm (that's crazy in itself) but we ran in and found a few dresses to try and found out the dressing room was closed (it is 7:45). I asked if we could hold the 3 dresses to try on and she said, "Not overnight." So I asked if my daughter could just run in and try them on then and she said that they were closing the dressing room at 7:45 bc "They have a lot to do." And that "if we hadn't come at 15 minutes until closing we could've tried them on." I said, "If I'd known that was a rule I would have." She said it's not a "rule, but she's the manager and has a lot to do." Kids these days. (I am going through menopause and probably sound like a 'Karen' right now, but just wait kids.) When a 20 something manager doesn't want to make a sale so she can leave early I just see it as laziness. I was putting the items back where they go and kind of to myself, but apparently too loud, I said, "I guess we'll have to get this somewhere else." To which she responded, "That's fine you do that." Something within me snapped. I mentioned to her that "yes, it would not bother you not to make a sale bc you don't own the store." She said,"I honestly couldn't care less. I don't own it, but I am the manager and I make the rules." Anyway, doubt I'll be back bc it was so embarrassing and pointless. She will be in my shoes one day. I owned my own store 14 years and if I'd had a manager who was more concerned about going home than about my customers needs and making sales she wouldn't work there long. This just was needless. I even told her we would make sure to get the 3 dresses back where they go and not be a bother. To which she replied that, "even if we put them back up it would cause them more work."

Just a note: this is also a store where, once you get inside (it's locked, understandably) the owner will come out, see if she knows you or you look rich enough, and if you don't meet inspection she goes into the back. The good: If you're into YSL, Balenciaga, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Prada, etc. they've got you covered. They get the goods in new and the prices seemed about right. I was mainly wanting to replace an Hermes wallet that has seen better days, but their selections were limited in the "not covered in logo" variety. If you like flashy things, again, this is your spot. The ehhhh: I'm not into flashy stuff (see above), though I do have some McQueen. I was more interested in their Hermes and Chanel, which they only carry used (along with Vuitton and some others). This became a bit of an issue, because the sweet lady trying to help me seemed clueless about the inventory. I was also curious as to how they did consignment, given that I have several bags that I just don't use. I didn't ask, however, because I wasn't super confident in getting a correct answer. I will say, sellers probably do alright because they have a monstrously overpriced Birkin in there that has bald corners and needs a spa visit (when I mentioned this to the salesperson, she looked at me like I had horns or needed meds--obviously, she had not heard of the Hermes spa). You can get the same Birkin on The Real Real, in far better shape, for $4k less. Overall, I probably would have had a better time I had trotted in with my Kelly bag...but I shouldn't have to do that. I'm giving them four stars because they carry authentic goods, but make sure you fit their idea of a customer before you pop in.

However, when I saw Stein Mart I was very excited and hopeful that I would be able to find a nice black maxi sweater. I did not want anything casual and if it had a little bling that would be perfect. If you are accustomed to shopping in the Atlanta area stores, you will probably be disappointed by this store which is much smaller and therefore very limited in content. Although they had a couple of cute pieces, I was disappointed overall. I was really surprised by the cheap acrylic sweaters that they are featuring for fall. I will never accept style over quality because I don't like pieces that look cheap and I prefer natural fibers when it comes to sweaters because they just look more polished and will last longer. While I love Stein Mart, this one just does not measure up and so my search continues.

They have two brick and mortars, one in Huntsville and one in Madison where you will find "unique items in store that you cannot buy online." They offer everything from t-shirts to denim, embroidered shorts, knit pants, midi and mini dresses, and bodycon dresses. Their prices are reasonable, too! I wear a large in target and kohl's and other brands like that but I can't seem to fit in the large at Shoe Fly. I had a great and helpful experience at the Madison location but still didn't find anything to fit. I'm not fat I'm just curvy with a little tummy but walking into Shoe Fly makes me feel like a hippo. What was once my favorite store is now the number one place I avoid because of how it makes me feel. I wish they were more helpful towards people who don't have tiny model bodies.
