My best friend had to have oral surgery so his dentist recommended the center for oral & facial…read moresurgery. Dr Richard D Meeks, Jr was the surgeon who took care of my friend. First I was so impressed with the office itself very clean friendly cozy comfortable atmosphere. I found the best chair to sit in that was in the corner next to the windows. I had prepared to settle in for a long wait so I had my coffee, my own magazines, a book, my iPad, water and a snack. With the comfy chair all I needed was a fireplace and I would be at home. Lol. The staff was excellent. I can't say enough how inviting, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable the staff was. All of them. How they explained HIPPA to my friend and procedure that would be performed was of patience and understanding. They explained insurance in layman's terms and didn't mind repeating to make sure we understood everything. I was impressed that I was allowed back with him on initial to go over the X-rays and while Dr Meekins explained everything. He answered my questions as well as my friends and explained exactly what he needed to do to follow up afterwards. The room was like the office very comfortable. Dr Meekins has a wonderful personality and great bedside manner. Extremely knowledgeable and doesn't mind explaining things. If I didn't already love my dentist I would definitely come here for service. This is one dentist office that I felt very relaxed and comfortable in. The whole ambiance was like that. The staff alone makes this place great. I watched as the receptionist took care with every patient that arrived. She was a mature woman and Her attention to not only patients in office but with calls and other staff was remarkable. The service here is absolutely A++++

I know in some cases, you may need to attend follow up visits for your tooth removal and extraction. My tooth was extracted and stitches put in. After extraction I visit my regular dentist who had received a letter from the Center for Oral & Facial Surgery of Memphis stating the extraction had been completed and a follow up had been scheduled. I was never scheduled for a follow. The letter to my dentist wasn't honest. Guess it's about the money.

Made an appointment to get my Father's teeth cleaned with American Family Dentist in Collierville,…read moreTenn. (My Dad is 93 years old) They gave him an appointment, with a cost of $79.00 as a new patient. (I assumed that was a discount for the cleaning). When I took him, they took x-rays and when that was done, they call my sister and myself back to show us what they saw. He had plaque buildup, and needed to use a special mouthwash for a short period of time, which I understood. But they informed us that it would take two visits to clean his teeth. supposedly, his plaque was that bad. I thought ok, it had been 3.5 years since his last cleaning. (That visit was with a different dentist, whom he had seen for years.) When they gave me the appointment date and times, they also gave me the price for the two cleanings. $1,288.00 was the cost! YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT!! $1,288.00. I would have to be crazy to pay that much for cleaning! I called his old dentist, they saw him the next morning, took x-ray and cleaned ALL HIS TEETH IN THAT ONE VISIT! COST: $215.00! If you are wise, avoid going to American Family Dentist in Collierville, Tennessee. I do not know what other American Family Clinics charge. but check before going!

My experience in the office was positive. The staff are friendly, the dentists are accommodating…read moreand understanding, but the billing side is a nightmare. I went in for an exam to determine the treatment plan for my work. I was quoted almost $3000.00 after insurance for the work that needed to be completed. I paid all of that up front and was told by the woman handing me the bill that I would actually most likely be refunded a substantial portion of the bill because they over charged me on purpose in case more work was discovered that needed treatment later. I had little expectation that I would actually get money back but I was happy that it was a possibility and even more happy that I felt as though I didn't need to worry about payments. I had been saving up money for this for over a year. I was scheduled for two sessions to complete all the work,. After the first session. A few of my cavities were overfilled and caused pain and discomfort. I explained this during my second session and asked for it to be taken care of, the dentist likely forgot but there were still multiple teeth after the second session that still were in pain and overfilled. A crown that was made was also massively oversized, the other crown had to be delayed because it was so oversized that it couldn't be placed. I came back for another visit to get that crown placed later and to have more of the previous work already done be fixed again. I had to call off work and lose money in order to do this because I thought everything would be done in two visits as I discussed with the dentist. At the end of it all, everything was taken care of, the dentist did not charge me for the work that had to be fixed. I'm not upset about those issues. Nothing ever goes perfectly and that's okay. The problem is that months later into the new year I was sent a bill for over $800 dollars that I owed. When I attempted to explain I was told that I should have paid more for my services than what they billed me and said that I was getting "free" treatment, the reality is that I was coming back to the dentist to fix the errors from the first two visits. That's not a discount, that's hours of my life that I lost and money lost from not being able to be at work to take care of what was supposed to be done the first time. As of writing this, I've been in contact with Elite Dental trying to dispute the bill and understand where the charges are coming from because the only billing information that I'm being given is missing a lot of important information. CDT codes are not present, there are multiple charges that have no explanation, insurance write offs, adjustments, it doesn't explain what charges are not covered, or what charges amount to the remaining balance. I've been sending emails promptly and then do not hear back anything for days at a time. Communication is extremely one sided and when I finally get someone they basically disregard what I am saying and just tell me that I need to pay the entire bill. Finally, what lead me to writing this review, I was still awaiting a reply on the same questions I've been asking for weeks now. They sent me an email saying that my account had been sent to a new "department" and gave me a number with no other information. I called the number and found that they had referred my bill to a collections agency while I'm in still in the process of working through the bill. All of this has been incredibly difficult, they are not communicating effectively and refuse to find common ground or understanding with my perspective on the problem. I paid a very large sum of money upfront with the express understanding that this was the FINAL bill from Elite Dental and was told that I would most likely be refunded a portion of it, only to find out 3-5 months after service that they want me to suddenly pay over $800 out of the blue and they refuse to explain exactly why I owe this and for what specific treatments. Making it impossible for me to communicate with my insurance to ensure that I am getting the proper coverage from them.

I went to get my back tooth extracted (#30) was given pain medication with nothing for infection. After the extraction, the place where my tooth was extracted pained me terribly. Here it is almost 2 weeks later and no one has reached out to me with a solution.
