So I came here using my 1 week free pass to check it out before I commit to a year (or 2) membership. There are two levels with the changing rooms and spin room on the lower level with the main check in desk. The upper level has the fitness room, cardio equipment and weights. This is a fairly small local place but is in clean decent shape. They do have up to date equipment and offer some good classes. The spin classes in the morning at 6 are full with a wait list. Although it is hard to get in the fact that it is full speaks for itself. I myself haven't taken a class and am thinking about it but augh 6 am to be on a bike. These folks really mean it! I've taken the step class and the Zumba and they were awesome. I def got my cardio work out. I am still need to test run a few others but this place may work. It is close to the commuter rail so getting off the train and right over for a work out is doable (not sure if this is a word). They do have a pool although I am not a swimmer. The weight room is a bit small but they have the basics and there are a mix of people at different times. Not sure I am finding the right workout group yet. I am looking for an energetic group of folks to help get me motivated and kick me into gear to get off my butt. I am not sure this is it. They will give you a lock for the lockers when you give them your keys and you can use the supplies such as hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, shower soap too since all are fully stocked and right in the showers. Apparently, some of the customers/staff here have been shown on America's Ninja Warrior! Definitely adds to their credibility. Also, from their ONE session solely on how to control your balance, helped with an obstacle I had today at a race. I was able to walk across a beam without falling into the water. Honestly, their training works and I hope to learn more before my next race in August. Even though it doesn't look like much when you go inside, it's more than enough to get you by in the races. If anything, they do have OPEN gym days, where you can just come and goof off, but sign the waiver online before coming on in!

Half of the gym is set up for kids with smaller scale obstacles, the other half is larger scale intended for adults. However, both kids & adults are free to attempt any obstacle in either area. No lines, no "order" - just pick an obstacle & try it. Don't feel self conscious, because nobody cares if you fail & they sometimes cheer if you succeed! I have taken my 8 year old on 3 occasions now, and on the last trip decided to try some myself. Conquered the jumping spider wall, floating logs, bungee run & 8 ft warped wall. Anyone over 35 is not allowed to attempt the 12 or 14 foot warped walls; there have been a couple Achilles injuries. They offer memberships, classes, and drop in rates. Individuals are required to pay an annual $25 insurance fee; on your first visit this is all you have to pay. Bottom line, this place is FUN. And every ninja needs to practice :)

At the prompting of a dear friend from my old gym to try Upperkuts, I did and have never looked back. I was not interested in any fancy "chain" gym, but rather a legit boxing gym. A.J. is the best, most compassionate and caring business owner. He has made a successful home to people from every walk of life and fitness level. He's constantly improving and introducing things to the gym for the betterment and enjoyment of everyone. I have had classes with Coaches Tony, Adel, Amy, Dylan, and Bianca, and every single class has left me challenged and sweat-soaked. From beginner to knowing boxing, there is something here for everyone.
