This aftercare provides time for homework, but also offers them valuable mat time to get their energy out and learn valuable life lessons (centered around six core values). We transitioned to summer camp in our first year. Camp usually offers discounts for extended care if you commit to aftercare for the upcoming school year. They have weekly field trips to some very fun spots, including daily trips to a local park to expend their energy. Basic karate (Tang Soo Do) is incorporated into both aftercare and camp, and my son loved the introduction. After a year of hearing our son begging to join Tang Soo Do classes, we finally consented. NO REGRETS! He has been in classes for just slightly under a year and has shown such growth in confidence, respect, strength and self control. The prices are slightly steeper than some other camps or afterschool programs, but you truly get what you pay for here at USK. Now 11 years later and seeing my three year old thrive in USK. I signed up for USK in March , my 3 three year old is showing promising changes. At first I just needed another activity to keep her busy and active. My daughter was the sassy talkative 3 year old who didn't have enough discipline and struggled with gross motor skills. In just four months my daughter has improved so much from being respectful , listening and staying focused to rocking the playground with ninja style confidence. Attending my first graduation for her belt ceremony was so special and beautiful to see the amount of change. I cannot thank USK enough for always helping with any concerns I may have they truly make you feel as a parent you're not alone. I really like how they offer a parents night out it's a fun event for the kids in a safe environment filled with games and pizza definitely helps us parents with some much needed "me" time. The owners David and Jill are so inspiring, the instructors Mr. and Mrs Elie are knowledgeable and caring they focus not only about physical training but mental training too they make it a fun relaxed environment that any kid of any age feels comfortable in. 1 Star -- Extremely Disappointed After 6 Years as YMCA Members…read more Unfortunately, after what happened today, we decided to cancel our YMCA membership and our children's swimming lessons. We have been YMCA members for six years. We have used this facility regularly, our children have taken swimming lessons here, and we have invested a lot of time and money into this membership. That is why today's experience was especially disappointing. I have already left a negative review about this YMCA, but today's situation honestly went beyond what I consider acceptable. This morning, I came to the YMCA for my workout. Around 11:00 AM, as I was leaving, I noticed an older woman in a white car trying to park next to my vehicle. There was no actual parking space available, and she was trying to squeeze into the area between the designated parking spaces. I didn't pay much attention at the time because I was in a hurry to pick up my daughter from daycare. After picking up my children, I returned to my car and discovered significant scratches on the plastic part of my vehicle. The damage was large enough that the paint had been completely scraped off. I immediately went back to the YMCA, hoping they could check their security cameras and possibly help identify the person responsible. Instead, I was told that they could not review the cameras themselves and that I needed to call the police. I was told that they would review the footage only if the police requested it. We called the police. An officer came and documented the incident. However, he did not even go inside the YMCA to review or request the camera footage. He simply explained that cameras of this type are often not clear enough to identify a license plate or a person's face. What I found especially frustrating is that there seemed to be no attempt to look for another way to identify the person. Even if the video quality was not good enough to clearly see the license plate or face, I suggested checking the approximate time of the incident and comparing it with the YMCA's membership check-in records. Members scan their membership when entering the facility. I had seen exactly where the woman went after parking, so it seemed reasonable to at least check whether someone matching the description entered the building around that time. Instead, I felt completely left on my own. I understand that the YMCA cannot be responsible for every incident that happens in its parking lot. I am not expecting the YMCA to pay for my car or to magically identify the driver. But after six years as a member, I expected basic cooperation, communication, and a genuine effort to help when something like this happened on YMCA property. The damage to my car was upsetting, but the lack of assistance and the way the situation was handled was even more disappointing. After six years, this was the final straw for us. We canceled our membership today and also canceled our children's swimming lessons. Very disappointed that after being loyal members for six years, this is how our relationship with the YMCA ends.
