Turns out they only allow 3 kids per class and they run around for 45 minutes tumbling around, climbing a wall, using a trampoline and playing hide-n-seek. The kids play upstairs and the parents wait outside the room where wifi and free Kcups are available. Adults can also run around on obstacles downstairs. Plenty of parking in front, but signage could be a bit better on the building. The location is among warehouses. Staff is super friendly.

The music is frequently played at an unnecessarily high volume, making it difficult to concentrate, decompress, or enjoy a peaceful workout. Instead of creating an environment that feels welcoming and restorative, the constant pounding club music gives the entire space a chaotic, overstimulating quality. The change goes beyond the music. There is now a noticeable coldness in the way the gym is operated. Interactions with management feel unnecessarily rigid and confrontational, and the overall attitude is less focused on hospitality and more focused on enforcing corporate policies without consideration for the customer. I originally joined under the previous ownership with the understanding that I could pay my $50 membership fee monthly. When an attempted automatic charge did not process, I went into the gym on the day the payment was due and offered to pay in person. I was told that no balance was showing in the system and that there was nothing I could pay at that time. A few days later, the gym attempted to charge me $80, including a $30 fee related to the declined transaction. I explained that I had come in on time and tried to pay, but their own system and staff had prevented me from doing so. I was also never clearly informed that the terms of my original agreement had changed or that a declined automatic payment would result in such a substantial additional charge. Rather than calmly addressing the contradiction, management became defensive and seemed more interested in justifying the fee than preserving a positive relationship with a paying member. That interaction reflected the larger problem with this gym: it no longer feels like a place designed for people who want to improve their health in a comfortable, respectful atmosphere. It feels loud, impersonal, tense, and increasingly unpleasant. Anyone looking for a polished, peaceful, mature fitness environment may want to visit during peak hours before committing to a membership. Listen to the volume of the music, observe the atmosphere, and pay attention to how management communicates with members. There are simply too many well-run gyms available to spend time and money somewhere that leaves you feeling more agitated when you leave than when you arrived.

They absolutely love it, and as a parent, I see so many benefits. It's amazing for discipline, keeps kids active and in shape, and most importantly -- teaches them confidence and self-defense. Honestly, I feel like this kind of training helps prevent bullying situations because kids learn how to stand up for themselves. There are classes for different age groups, as well as programs for adults, which makes it great for the whole family. The first trial class is free, which is a great way to try it out. For the trial, kids are provided with a school uniform -- sometimes it may be a bit big, but that's totally fine just for the first class. After that, you can purchase the proper uniform in your child's size (usually includes a T-shirt, pants, gi jacket, and belt). Kids typically train about twice a week, and older students can attend more often. The staff is always polite, respectful, and very patient with kids -- they really know how to connect with different personalities. The coaches are charismatic, engaging, and know how to keep children interested and motivated. Another big plus -- convenient parking, and parents can stay and watch the class while sitting comfortably on a bench. The facility also has two restrooms and a water fountain. I've been going to The Peter Blum Family YMCA for years, and overall it's a good place -- but there…read moreare definitely some important pros and cons. Let me start with the positives. The management team is always very polite and helpful. One of the main reasons I've stayed so long is their wide variety of classes -- yoga, BodyPump, Pilates, Zumba, HIIT, BodyCombat, and more. I used to LOVE the BodyPump and BodyCombat classes, especially with instructors Zoe and Cindy Lee -- they were incredible. So much energy, motivation, always correcting form and really engaging with the class. Truly my favorites. Unfortunately, after they left, I stopped attending those classes. I did try the new instructor, but the experience was very different -- loud in an uncomfortable way, lots of personal talk during class, and overall not the same professional atmosphere. There was also an awkward situation that made me feel unwelcome. I was filming myself and my friend briefly (as I sometimes do), making sure no one else was in the background. The instructor approached me in a way that felt unnecessarily confrontational, repeating the same comment about not filming, even after I had already stopped and put my phone away. After that, I felt uncomfortable returning to those classes and eventually stopped going altogether -- especially when I noticed the same energy during future visits. That said, the yoga classes are still excellent -- very strong instructor and great experience. The gym itself is well-equipped with modern machines, always clean, and offers great amenities: sauna, steam room, and a pool. Kids' programs are also a big plus -- my children have been taking swimming classes there for years (we've been coming here for about 6 years total), and they love it. When they were younger, we also attended "mommy & me" classes, which were wonderful -- lots of songs, playtime, and interaction. There's also a kids' playroom with staff, toys, and activities, as well as two playgrounds. They even have a daycare, and a small indoor play area available on weekends -- very family-friendly overall. Now, a couple of serious downsides. The building is quite old, and during rainy season the roof leaks -- I've seen water dripping in areas like the café and even the gym floor, with buckets placed underneath instead of fixing the issue. That's definitely concerning. Another important issue is the parking lot. There is an exposed metal rod sticking out where a parking stopper used to be, right near the front entrance by the windows. I personally had a scary experience with it -- it pressed into my car wheel, and I was lucky it didn't puncture the tire. I reported it and even left a review about it, but a year later it still hasn't been fixed. Please be very careful when parking in that area. Overall, it's a place with great potential, strong programs, and a family-friendly environment -- but also with some issues that really should be addressed.

Heather and the coaches are some of the most welcoming and warm people I have met, not just as coaches but as people. They are also extremely knowledgeable and make sure everyone is safe, paid attention to, encouraged, heard, and enjoying themselves. The culture and vibe this gym has feels like family or close friends you have known for years, and I have only been there a week. They make all classes and techniques accessible to everyone regardless of your skill level, athletic ability, or size. They also encourage everyone to try every class offered no matter your goals. As a female, it added another layer of intimidation to finding a school due to the predominantly male participation in most martial arts. Instead of being left as the odd one out, the guys have been extremely respectful and friendly, often saying hi without even knowing my name. The woman I have met are equally as kind and welcoming and really take you in. Everyone is there to have a great time and help each other learn.
