This is from their own Blog. They hit these red flags multiple times...... "Red Flags to Watch For When selecting a landscaping professional, here are a few red flags to keep in mind: Lack of Transparency: Hesitance to provide detailed quotes, contracts, or references should raise concerns about their business practices. Poor Communication: Difficulty in getting clear, timely responses can foreshadow future issues with project management and customer service." If they give you a date, don't count on them showing up. Don't count on them returning calls, texts or emails when you try to confirm the date or ask where the service crew is. I found out they weren't showing late in the afternoon of our scheduled date only because I stayed on hold for 25 minutes insisting on an answer. They were never going to tell us, apparently. If they reschedule and tell you they will be there between 9-11am and you're the only project on the schedule for that day, don't count on it. That one was a blatant lie. If you're told they are late because they had to pick up supplies, take that with a grain of salt. All they needed was shovels and tarp and they showed up ( hours late) without the tarp. If you think the person giving you the estimate (in our case, the owner) is communicating with the service providers, don't count on it. The non-english speaking crew didn't even look in the correct area of the yard. We had to use a translation app to communicate what the job was supposed to be. If you have a different last name than your significant other, they will absolutely let you sign the contract, but will not share any costs or quotes with you. I could go on and on. They are GREAT at showing up for the estimate, taking the down payment, invoicing incorrectly and pursing the remaining balance the day of the service, repeatedly. Too expensive for substandard customer service and mediocre results. If they are still in business in a year it's because there are more ignorant people like me that didn't check reviews before they hire them. read more

I would really like to give just one star, but they did all the work they gave the estimate for. Ultimately, we finally have grass in our backyard and the slope has been reduced. The issue is the lack of communication and the lack of pride in the job. They didn't show up the day they were scheduled after two text messages reminding us they were coming. They did show up the following day and complete the sod install, but the crew had to wait on arrival of materials. To be sure, ours was a difficult project, with limited access to the area, but the project lead had scene what needed to be done, he just didn't communicate with the crew. I have attached numerous photos. They removed retaining wall block to use a wheelbarrow and knocked some others loose, and didn't put them back correctly. Covered two steps to our deck and laid sod without telling me that was there plan. Left top soil on the deck. Damaged the irrigation system I had for our lower flower bed and knocked dirt into another one. Didn't even try to rake over or smooth out the deep tracks the skid steer left. Left one gate so it wouldn't open all the way. Instead of cutting the dead end of a roll off, they laid it. When three of them returned the following day to fix the retaining wall block, they were clearly unhappy and still didn't get it right. In closing, other companies have always made sure there teams did right and the customer was happy. Crescent Construction did our roof and that supervisor/project lead was actually going behind picking up nails and debris. When Hawley's Tree Service finishes a job, it's hard to tell they were even there. In short, I do not recommend Elite, but if you use them, stay on them. read more

We called for an estimate to fix our lawn & irrigation system. They came out when promised. My wife met with them. They gave us an estimate for the lawn. My wife paid a deposit for the irrigation system. They stated that they would contact us. The only thing she signed was after the credit card was run. She was not told that anything paid was non-refundable. We did not hear from them for over a week. One evening, she received a text that they would be at our house tomorrow. In the interim, we decided to contact another company because of lack of communication. I called to cancel the appointment and request a refund on the deposit. I was told it was non-refundable. My wife contacted them about the situation. She gave them my number and they said they would call. I never received a call from them. I had to contact them again. The person with whom I spoke was very nice and understanding. I was told that the manager was on a project and they would call me later that day. I called about 5 hours later and the manager was still not available. The person assured me that I wasn't forgotten about and would receive a call the next day. I called the following day and we decided that if the money wasn't going to be refunded, then we want the service but we do not approve of anything beyond the deposit we paid. The person on the phone understood and scheduled it for the next day. Since we could not be home, they were given the garage code to do whatever tests they needed. They arrived around 8:15am. My cameras show that they left around 9:15am. As if 3:45, we still have not received the promised diagnosis of our irrigation system. The 2 stars is for the professionalism and demeanor of the people I spoke with in the phone. Otherwise, given the lack of communication from management, not being told that the deposit was non-refundable and that we thought we were signing a credit card receipt which turned out to be an acceptance of the estimate, I would have given Elite 1 star. read more

Stay far far away from this company. Not Christians by their actions or hold to their word at all. I had a gift certificate to Elite and had assumed before that, that they were good. I was wrong. I got a quote from a very nice young man who went around my yard with me, discussing what I needed. I wanted a general clean up because the grass hadn't really grown yet and I was moving out. There were two very green grassy spots, very small, with some grass left over from some chicken feed. They disregarded the discussion about the grass. Honestly it could have been taken down with one or two swipes of a weed wacker. They moved a paving stone and left it in the middle of my driveway where I have to get to my car port. What's odd is they loved one but not the other and truly there was no reason to move it at all. They left some small wire decorative laying strewn across my front yard (I didn't get a pic of this). When I called to ask about why what was discussed and agreed upon was left undone and the other issues, the person was extremely rude. They gave me excuses about why a paving stone would be left in the driveway and said they would have someone call we with a quote about cutting the patch of grass (see pics). Then they text me at 11pm!! They then said they would have whomever the young man that came out in the first place call me because they didn't want to misrepresent him . It's all the same company! If I could rate them lower, I would. Stay far far away from this company. Ran by, I would call them kids, and have no idea what they are doing. They under-bid, then you have to pay more, and then when it is not what they said they would do, they want to charge you even more to clean it up. I should have looked on this site, YELP, before I hired them. I know better now. Hopefully, people will look here before they hire them. I have also posted on Nextdoor to warn folks in my area. This company needs to be taught a lesson about respect and honor your word. Better yet, if they do not get any business, they will go OUT OF BUSINESS! read more

We signed up with them to just do our landscaping (cut grass, edge, and weeding). They came and did a half job in leaving big strips of grass un-done, didn't do weeding and didn't blow off the loose grass. Also scalped my yard in certain spot where they were in so much in a hurry that the blade dug into the dirt and took chunks of grass with them. The day the came I sent pictures showing what kind of job they did and that a 10 year old could have done better with no response at all but then sent the invoice numerous of times. i would not use them at all because they will mess up your yard and expect you to pay for their half job. Stay away from this company otherwise your yard will look like a crap!!!! read more

Im not sure how much my wife paid for this, but instead of putting pine straw UNDER the bushes, they decided to put it on the grass AROUND the bushes. This is in front yard by the driveway and mailbox for everyone to see. Then again in the front yard 50' of flowers, they put straw in the middle 20' and in the not whole flower bed! Be warned of poor workmanship and lack of knowledge. I hired this company to install french drains and tie in rain gutters. I'm glad I work from home and could watch the process. Day 1: Crew was not well organized & started by digging trench by hand - ended up leaving to get a trencher which slowed the work down. Then trencher would get stuck and it took three guys to run and guide it. Making a complete mess. STILL Day 1: Once one trench was run - I went out back to see how it was going. The French drain pipe was mostly in the ground and covered. I asked where the aggregate rock was (they literally just laid to drain in ground and covered with 6" of clay). The crew lead, said dunno - not on quote. I pulled quote and it was listed and I said it stated all required materials for "professional" install. He then left again to get the aggregate. Then they had to pull the entire drain which was buried. I asked about the catch basin - oh that's not included. Called mgr to confirm adding catch basins - stated it would cost extra. I said fine I wanted 3. I understand this happens, but they broke 2 sprinkler lines and then charged me to fix them. Day 2. Once again I go outside to check progress on drain #2...again no aggregate rock. When I asked one of them how do you make a French drain...His response...dig a trench, install the drain and "SPRINKLE some gravel on it". I finally couldn't take it anymore...I told them to stop work and don't do anything and called the owner and said I want you on site now. He agreed and showed up several hours later with a Salesman, who was helpful. The salesman grabbed a shovel and removed some dirt and sure enough no gravel on top, a little on sides and bottom. Had them pull drains again and spot check in various places. They apologized and reviewed remaining workmanship of the crew then assured me all would be taken care of the following day. Day 3. Crew showed up - "finished" after a few hours and left (I thought they went to lunch), however, they never came back so just left without a final walk-through. I went outside to check and found the crew left the job unfinished: 1. Did not clean up, left dirt/gravel in my yard. 2. Did not attempt to rake or level where the drain was installed. 3. Did not complete the installation of river rock or fabric the entire length the drain. 4. Left hose that they borrowed laying in yard over the fence. 5. Left a plant that was in ground just laying there after they dug it up. Didn't ask if they could replant it. 6. Did not run the drain as discussed in day 1 walk-through, leaving it to just end at an awkward spot. Called salesman who said if there were any further issues, to call him. So I did. He came by and reviewed the situation and agreed it was unacceptable. He came on Friday and fixed the issues on his own, without a crew. I have forgot some details, but this is a high level summary of my experience. Basically, I felt I had to micro manage everything that was going on. You would have thought with this many problems, they would have tried to resolve the situation by offering some type of discount. Their quotes are low because they grossly miscalculating materials, and then add them on at the end. I told the owner I would not recommend their services. I had also initially asked them to quote me for some work that I was planning for later in the year, which totaled about $14k, but after this experience, I told them NEVER again. He then responded by saying the cement crew is much better...! I said, maybe these guys should work with them then and learn. No pride in work, kids on cell phones, poor workmanship... Took a chance on this company and got burned. After providing a "no rush" estimate, we were hounded for days. Should have trusted our gut, but we proceeded with them anyway. The crew took several shortcuts on a pretty straightforward project and left it incomplete. We had a difficult time getting through to express our concerns, but they had no issue sending us repeated messages about paying the bill. They're not interested in making it right, and I hope you don't end up in a similar situation after doing business with Elite Lawn & Landscape. read more
