Personally, I wouldn't mind living there as well, when the time comes. I miss HE and the wonderful residents I too became friends with over the years.

The rationale was that if one passed, the other would move into the "skilled nursing facility'. THE EXPERIENCE WAS A DISASTER! As her POA I was rarely able to contact either the management or nursing staff. We hired an independent agency to assist with her care. ADRS staff were often dismissive toward the caregiver and, more importantly, toward the patient's needs. She soon contracted infections that could have been treated, but due, in my estimation, to lack of interest and attention, lack of medical attention, she deteriorated and recently passed. Avante absolutely will NOT tell me when he died (date), where he died (Avante or a hospital), what happened to his body (they have prepaid cremation plans), or where his personal effects went (should have gone to his wife). Have no idea what the motivation is for keeping this information from his wife! I call Avante every day. Keep getting directed to Ext 21055. No one has ever answered the phone or returned my calls! Filed an AHCA complaint!

I brought my father there from another Nursing home...thinking it would be better...2 weeks after…read morethat, they rushed him to the hospital, saying that he couldn't breathe due to aspiration Pneumonia. At the Hospital I found out that the reason he was not feeling well was due to UTI, Water retention and Kidney Infection. However, the doctors in the hospital gave my father the swallow test and decided that he needed a feeding tube (PEG) inserted into his stomach for the rest of his life. The Nursing Home gave him this test 2 weeks prior to this incident, and my father had no problem eating 3 meals a day, pureed, since he lost all his teeth. I was also told that the Nursing Home will not accept him back if he doesn't have the feeding tube, since he failed their test. The Nursing Home insisted that the feeding tube will not change his quality of life - on contrary - he will absorb nutrients better. 3 months later he ended up in Hospice, with care as bad as in the other reviews . The doctor promises everything you want to hear, but does whatever he wants. The Nurses think they know best, but treat the patients like...old dogs ready to be put to sleep. The rest of the staff...they obviously hate their jobs and are there for benefits. Last thing: I met someone who worked here years ago...and said that they keep changing the name of this "Nursing Home" all the time since they get sued a lot...that's why they make patients and their families wave their right to sue when they are accepted into the facility.

My dad has been there 3 weeks and is declining, his doctor seems very responsive, but the facility is not. Twice they have changed my dad for the evening and then left phone and call button too far away for him to reach. He called out for a few hours and no-one assisted him. yet someone came by and pulled the door close. I have tried to speak to Kimora who I am told is in charge of the facility, but all I get is voicemail, and people who answer the phone who can't answer a simple question about who is in charge, or what is there extension. I just keep getting placed onto a ringing phone that no one answer. So they have left me no choice but to take the following steps. I am reporting them today to the state, as this is the second time this has happened. He also has a rash for not being changed in a reasonable amount of time. I know there is a staffing shortage, but this is unacceptable. He is a very pleasant man and asks for little. So to not have basic needs attended to is criminal.
