I actually met JZ when my friends and I visited one of the wineries during my first trip to Paso Robles. Unfortunately, at that time, we had already booked a wine tasting group tour the next day so we didn't get the chance to do the private tour with JZ. My bf's friend gave a great recommendation, so when my bf and I went back to Paso for a quick Valentine's day getaway we knew we had to contact him for our wine tour. First of all, you wouldn't have to worry about who's gonna be your DD. I like how the tour is personalized (budget, wine preferences, etc.) and mannnnn... we went to so many wineries that day! The places he took us were spot on! Most of them we probably wouldn't even end up visiting if we drove around on our own or if we had gone with a group tour. He's very professional, knowledgeable about the area and the wines, plus he takes awesome pictures! (Sidenote: I'll never forget how he got to our hotel 15mins early, I really liked that). We hired JZ for 7 hours for our nieces first limo and wine tasting tour. We had the best time!! He completely planned our day (perfectly I might add). He picked up our lunch for us, made all of our reservations, organized and carried out all of our wine purchases, took photos of the entire event, provided fun history and knowledge of wineries, and just had an amazing attitude that made the experience that much better! Any wineries we were interested in visiting he made sure to add to the journey and also added in some others he thought we would enjoy. Adelaida was by far our favorite! I booked with JZ for a private tour in Paso Robles. I had a party of 3. The price is very reasonable. JZ kept good communication before the tour via email. JZ picked up lunch from the deli of our choice and went to the wineries of our choice. We booked a seven hour tour stopped at 5 wineries. We stayed in Cambria and he picked us up and dropped us off from Cambria. I was very fortunate to stumble across John's website while searching for private drivers for our visit to Paso Robles. From his initial response to my email, I knew he was going to be awesome. We did a 5 and a half hour wine tour with him...we picked the wineries and he picked the most effective route. John is FULL of facts you would never know..he has a plethora of knowledge about the wine, the region, etc. etc. When we got hungry, he volunteered to go grab lunch for us (AND gas up our car since we were running low). We called in the order and he was back 20 minutes later, setting up a picnic lunch for us on the patio at Hunt Cellars. Another fabulous touch was he photographed the whole day, at NO extra charge. He was kind enough to send a CD with the pictures immediately following the weekend. As if this all wasn't great enough, toward the end of the day he asked if we were interested in doing an olive oil tasting. It was something I'd never done, so I immediately jumped on the idea. He called Kiler Ridge for us, made an appointment, and we got to do a tasting while watching the sunset up on top of the hill. Yet another amazing photo opportunity as well. I wanted our group of six to have a memorable and stress-free day of visiting wineries. I sent a message to JZ to ask for a quote and his response was immediate and detailed. After booking to hold the day, I explained a little about our group and he used his knowledge of the area and relationships with the wineries to plan the perfect day for us. He suggested places to order for lunch, sent me a reminder to order two days before, and picked up the lunches so we could picnic when ready. The wineries we visited were Ecluse, Venteux, Turley, and Calcareous. Each one had something a little special about it (Ecluse had barrel tasting, Calcareous had amazing views, etc.) and the staff was amazing at each place. The sprinter is clean, comfortable and spacious. He kept it stocked with plenty of water and the sound system kept our group rocking to the Counting Crows. (concert next day) Something else that I truly appreciated was the photos that he took of our group and sent to me to share. JZ is the best! He selects wineries, sets up the appointments, safely drives you, keeps your wine purchases labeled and on the sprinter, and preserves your memories with pictures from the day. Our group of seven were lucky enough to have selected JZ and Elite Wine Tours Paso to put together a two-day tasting tour of the Paso Robles area. He set up two full days of really great tastings after hearing about the types of wines we liked. He arranged for lunch both days and provided lots of bottled water. Rather than driving one of the vehicles at his disposal, he drove our rental van (which we rented at SLO airport) for us. JZ was organized, super-knowledgeable, friendly and fun.
