It has been almost a year since my parents and I took a tour with JZ in Paso Robles. We were going to be in the area for a wedding, and a wine tour there was something my mom had always wanted to do. We were stopping there anyway, but I decided to surprise them with a wine tour as an anniversary gift. After finding JZ on Yelp, I got a hold of him. He responded immediately and took all of my parents' preferences into consideration. He suggested the perfect wineries for us (those off the beaten path)! He took us to a private winery where my dad was able to talk ranching with the proprietor, and we stopped at a couple of mom and pop wineries -- something my parents loved. In all, we visited 4 or 5 wineries that day. We had an absolutely incredible time! JZ felt more like a friend spending the day with us than anything else! We talk about our time with JZ all the time -- it is one of our most favorite memories! JZ offers the ultimate wine tour. After asking a few questions on what kind of tour we wanted, he put together a 4-stop tour of boutique wineries off the beaten path in Paso Robles. Even though there was just 4 of us, we used his 8 person limo. Larger groups would be very comfortable in this sweet ride. Stocked with a bottle of champagne. Water was restocked throughout the day. My dog and I had a great time on our wine tour with JZ. He picked four excellent wineries that I hadn't been to (and we stumbled across a fifth that happened to be open), including one place with a lovely outdoor patio where we had lunch with our wine tasting. I hired JZ for a wine tour for my family over Thanksgiving weekend. There were 6 of us (and one medium sized dog) and we fit comfortably into his SUV with one of us riding up front. This truly was a wonderful trip for us, and I can't say enough good things about JZ's service. He planned everything from start to finish, taking the onus off me (as the usual planner in the family) from selecting wineries and lunch options. He really listened to what I said we wanted in our winery selections, and we loved everything he chose. He was present and available to us for questions and a good amount of information about the wineries and the area without feeling intrusive on our family trip. The photos he takes of the day are also a nice touch, since I never remember to take photos! I think he took the only photo of the 6 of us together in existence, which I can't thank him for enough. He was our driver and guide for a wine country day trip to several wineries in the Central Coast region of Paso Robles last May. We are well-schooled in wine tasting, living near the Napa and Sonoma regions, but had never been to PR, so we needed some guidance about which wineries would best suit our tastes. With careful planning and generous communication, JZ created a perfect day for us, including five tastings and lunch. We have hired JZ twice now so that I don't have to drive and so that we can all have a great time without worrying about where to go or drinking too much then driving. Not safe or cool. When I first met JZ, he asked me a few questions about what wine or wineries I was familiar with and interested in. Based on that info, he quickly and deftly planned an itinerary that filled our day with great wines, beautiful vistas and volumes of info on Paso Robles, the winemakers and the wines. He has forgotten more than I will ever know about the region, and I consider myself knowledgable about the region. He knows everyone at all the wineries and will get you in to places that you will not be able to visit on your own. He is very professional about his job, and will not let you carry out the wines that you buy, he offers you water at each stop, and takes photos all day so that he can mail you a CD of your trip. BTW, he is a professional photographer, and captures great shots of the day, that are worth framing. Just one of the little extra touches that he does to make the experience fist class. He offers to drive his vehicle but is also willing to drive your's, which is something that I prefer. If you are a planner like I am, he will work with that, but if you want to just let go and let him take over the day, you will not regret it, the guy is a class act all the way around. Also, and this is not mentioned much, he is not expensive. If you have two couples in your party, a whole day with him is so cheap, that you will feel like you cheated him. We always tip him a full 30%, and that never feels like enough. I will never drive myself around Paso again.....thanks JZ! read more

I have gone on three different excursions with John over the past two years, and he is really great! Polite, easy-going, really knows the area, and many of the wine people. As we drove from one winery to the next, he was giving historical and current info about what we were passing. He took pictures and we could access them online later. He will either take his car or he will drive ours - in my case he drove my friends large car and was an excellent driver. He picked up our purchases from the wineries, labeled them, and then put them in insulated bags. Once we got to our drop off location he actually took everything into the garage and organized it.
