We practised visualisation techniques that I used not only during labour but also in the months leading up to birth. One of the biggest takeaways from our class was that there's no single "perfect" way to give birth. By staying open to the many twists and turns labour can bring, and by using the tools we learned from Maddy, we could still create a wonderful birth experience. During labour, I kept returning to what Maddy had taught us--especially the breathing techniques and affirmations. My partner also learned practical ways to support me, which he found so helpful. There were moments when I felt I'd lost control of my breath and the pain felt overwhelming, but because Maddy had prepared us for that, I knew what to do. Using her techniques, I was able to regain control, and the difference it made was incredible. My partner even recognised those moments and knew exactly how to help bring me back to my breath.
