Dr. Hegyi has been my primary care physician for going on 3 years now and I can honestly say I've never been happier with a doctor. To put it into perspective for you: whenever I think about moving away from San Diego, I think about how hard it'll be to find a doctor who can fill her shoes. The first appointment included both a thorough consultation and check up. During the consult, we talked through all mine and my my family's medical history. I've lost my father, uncle, and grandfather in the last decade, so having someone who will take the time to understand my family history is huge (not only for health but for peace of mind). She's kind and composed with great bedside manner, but also direct and honest. She takes the time to actually explain health processes and it's extremely evident that she cares about her patients and her practice. Be honest with her about your concerns and how you're living day to day if you want to make the most of your appointments. She'll help you gameplan your health goals and asks that you check in with any concerns after the visit (super rare in my experiences). Dealing with insurance, booking appointments, and filling prescriptions is never fun, but don't let annoyance with these medical norms prevent you from finding a truly great doctor like Edit. Pro tip for visiting this small office: bring a book to read for the waiting room and understand that even if this small practice gets a bit behind schedule, the wait is worth the care and attention you'll receive. What started great became a huge disappointment--especially for patients on Medicaid. At first, this facility and Dr. Hegyi were great--attentive, communicative, and thorough. But as time went on, that quickly changed. I'm not sure if it was because my mom has government-provided insurance (Community Health Group), but the care and service she received noticeably declined. Her in-person appointments were suddenly switched to virtual, and the doctor consistently showed up extremely late--or not at all. And I don't mean 10 or 30 minutes late--I'm talking 2 to 4 hours late, or completely missing the appointment with no notice. We'd have to reschedule for the next day, only to sit in the digital waiting room for hours again. When I asked about returning to in-person visits, I was told those were "for paying customers," not those using Medicaid. That kind of distinction feels discriminatory and elitist. Communication became incredibly difficult. I had to call multiple times just to get help with urgent medical issues, and getting a straight answer became almost impossible. Then my mom--who is 100% disabled, relies solely on Social Security, and lives well below the poverty line--was blindsided with a bill of over $400. She had no idea she even had a co-pay. No one ever explained this, and it was never brought up during visits. I called her insurance provider myself and found out that billing was never properly submitted, even though my mom has dual coverage. I left a detailed voicemail explaining this. I followed up a week later. I emailed them on February 20 and March 7. Still--no response. And now my mom has been sent to collections over something she was never told about and that could've been easily resolved had anyone returned a call or sent an email. This might be a minor inconvenience for office staff, but for someone sick and in poverty, this is immensely stressful. And that stress is now affecting her health. Internalized stress in someone already disabled is dangerous. The real issue isn't just a billing mistake--it's the complete breakdown of communication, professionalism, and care. Had we been private pay clients, I truly believe the attentiveness would have been entirely different. That's the part that's most upsetting. We weren't treated like human beings--we were treated like less. DO BETTER. Patients deserve respect no matter how they pay. Waited 30 minutes to be helped after having an appointment. I go in to get an appointment with an orthopedic doctor because I have a broken thumb on my right hand pretty serious. They say they'll send me an email to schedule an appointment and they schedule me for something on my neck that I didn't ask for? I've been in pain for a week but they are no help. DO NOT RECOMMEND. I will be changing primary doctors because they clearly don't care about their patients well being. Don't go here they will just waste your time! read more

I am just starting Medicare with Dr. Hegyi and she seemed to be very caring and knowledgeable. However, her office staff is lacking in organization and follow up. I had somewhat of an emergency situation prior to my first office visit wherein I had a very painful UTI and needed to get seen for medication. Called this Silvergate Medical office numerous times and left numerous messages but no call back. I needed to find a Urgent care facility through this medical office. Out of desperation, I called SCAN and they were able to get me the list of Urgent Care facilities affiliated with this medical group. Unfortunately, these urgent care places were 24 miles out of my way and I felt like I was in a 3-world country. I was seen and prescribed the medication I needed but I am not happy with the locations of these urgent care facilities. On the day I had my first appt. at Dr. Hegyi's office the receptionist called me while en route to their office stating they needed me to come earlier. That would have been helpful had they called the day before. Then when I arrived in the area of the doctor's office, I got lost and couldn't find the place, so I called the office and got put into the voicemail system, no call back. I kept driving around looking for the office then, just as I found it the staff member called and I stated I was lost but I had just found the upstairs location. Once in the office, she had me fill out numerous pages of paperwork however, most of it was unreadable since it had been copied over so many times and some of the wording was cut off the page. I had fasted since the evening before so I could do a blood glucose test, but upon leaving there was told I had to go to another location to get the lab work done. Luckily this wasn't too far, so I drove over there. Once at the lab you have to type in your name in the computer but when I did this it came up as an Error. I told the nurse that was there and she went on to get my info and told me I didn't have an appt so I'd have to wait. I stated that the doctor's office sent over the request electronically, but they said they never got it. This is now around noon and I haven't eaten anything since 8pm the night before. Went to lunch then back to the doctor's office and told them the lab didn't get request. Staff member said it was sent? She went ahead and printed out a hard copy for me but now, I'm thinking I'm just going to change doctors due to the office's lack of professionalism and organization. I'm very concerned that if I really had a life threatening event, I would be in real trouble. This office staff needs to be trained to answer their phones! very unprofessional read more

Dr. Edit Hegyi deserves 5 stars. Unfortunately, the office staff deserves a 1 star for being very unorganized. Although they are very kind it seems they lack basic insurance knowledge. Do not waste your time filling out all documents online, because they will make you fill it out again in person. They do not answer telephone calls consistently but will respond via text message. I noticed my imaging orders had the wrong name and insurance listed after I got in my vehicle from my appointment. I ran back upstairs to get it updated and the lady said they are taking lunch now and cannot help me. Therefore, it's taken several extra days to book appointments for ultra sounds because the imaging center still cannot get the correct orders from the office. I'm hesitant to post a review, but only because the selfish side of me wants to keep this wonderful, caring, brilliant, doctor a well-kept secret! Oh well, I'm sure the karma of helping others in need of a great doc will work in my favor. It doesn't get any better... For the right kind of patient! I do think it's important folks realize that this is a *very* small practice and only open three days a week. If you've got kids who regularly get sick at all hours or you just frequently need to be seen *right now*, you might be better off with one of the big groups that have multiple doctors, nurse practitioners, and even specialists right there able to see you at all sorts of hours five and six days a week. If you're more able to roll with things a bit, even if you've got chronic sorts of medical needs, and you are looking for a physician with a heart, brain, sense of humor, and who's imminently reasonable, Dr. Hegyi might be a great fit. She's an amazing doctor and a wonderful human being who truly wants the very best for her patients and people everywhere. I think she's pretty special. read more

I was excited to have found a primary care doctor close to my home. First impressions are everything, and this office failed. I filled out the new patient paperwork on line last week (including my insurance information). I arrived today 5 min before my appointment. The receptionist started checking my insurance 20 min After my appointment time. I have a PPO so it should have been no issue. After waiting 30 min after my arrival, I ask why my insurance wasn't checked before my appointment and the receptionist response was a flustered "I just didn't". Like I said "first impressions" are everything . If I didn't do medical billing as a job, I would probably have been none the wiser as to how this works. I've learned that typically how you get treated the first few minutes in any business, is how that business is run. I left and will be on the search for a better run office . read more

This doctor is such a poor doctor. I saw her in regards to my asthma. Informed her of a prescription I use to be on and she said she will put the the prescription through. She didn't put the prescription until two days later after I called and left a message. I never received a call back either. Then I call the pharmacy and they said my insurance is requesting a prior authorization. I call the doctor's office and they said they'd get right on it and it be 2-5business days. It's 7 business and of course nothing has been done: I called my insurance and they informed they haven't received anything from her office. My insurance is trying to get ahold of her so I can start to breath properly again, no thanks to this doctor and her team though. read more

Don't do it!! Although the Dr is very nice, they do not return phone calls, they fail to bill insurance, and keep billing us directly. I suspect a scam is in the works. I was so surprised to see any negative reviews for this doctor as I have never in this country met any doctor more caring and thorough! Sounds like the other reviews had more to do with their insurance issues or front desk not returning their call. Just sad that they would blame Dr Hegyi. She gets busy as she does tend to a lot of patients but those times I do go see her I never had to wait more than a few minutes on the waiting room. My first visit she spent an entire hour with me answering every single question in detail. Any other doctor I've been to has rushed me out the door or barely listened to my concerned. Also Dr Hegyi has been very open minded to my holistic beliefs. She gave me the ok to get off all my western medicine as long as I felt my natural alternatives have worked. She does practice western medicine but she has been such a nice balance for me and gives me comfort to know that she makes sure I don't get off my path. She will make her recommendations that she believes in our has never pushed me if I didn't feel comfortable and wanted to take treatment into my own hands. I did a serious of cleanses on my own and she has been the only doctor I felt comfortable sharing that with as usually I'll get pinned down. Her treatments has been aimed at treating the whole person - not just one body part or taking things out of proportion. I few so blessed to have found her.
