It's fine. It's something to do other than the hot springs and that matters in this town…read more For context, Hot Sulphur Springs is a tiny place that is somehow the county seat of Grand County. I presume this goes back to olden tymes when more was going on here. As of my visit, aside from the hot spring, options in this town were a single restaurant, a gas station that closed at 6 PM... and this museum. So if you want to learn a little about this town's past and what made it the county seat, you should check it out. It was a very short drive from the Hot Springs, one could walk if desired, and there is a parking lot, so that wasn't an issue. I also happened to be there on a free day, which was handy. However, admission is very affordable if you are there on a normal day - $8 adults / $7 seniors / $5 children (6-17) / under 5 is free as per https://grandcountyhistory.org. I'm not going to pretend that this was an exciting spot, but it was informative and it should not be overlooked as an option for visitors to the area.

Pioneer Village Museum is part of Grand County museums. Grand County operates a total of seven…read morelocal museums preserved over the century. Pioneer is neat cause the actual spot has a lot of history. The land and general main building started out as the county courthouse (1891-1902) and jail (1897-1937). From 1924-1942 the schoolhouse was built. Kinda funny how the jail was next to the schoolhouse. The exterior shows the original basic structure with updated technology. Aside from the local history, there are several homesteading themes on the grounds and millions of trails in the general vicinity for all your outdoor pleasures. Due east about one hour is the georgeous Grand Lake and Village. Two hours or so is the west entrance to the actual Rocky Mtn National Park (not to be confused withnthe Rocky Mtn Range). Lots of facilities in a 100 mile radius. Safe travelings.

As such, there was little redeeming about it unfortunately. The art almost exclusively looked like it belonged in the headquarters of a corporation, and cost as much as well. Just like the Cherry Creek festival, little caught my eye....which was a damn shame, since I think events like there are pretty cool usually. Alas, I'd rather spend a day at the dog park, or the Farmer's market, or sitting at home and staring at the ceiling....seriously.

A small bit of the Bus Stop affordable housing development in North Boulder has been carved out as…read morea gallery space, part of the NoBo Art District. Parking is very difficult as most of the surrounding streets are marked, "No Parking." There is a lot for tenants behind the building which is marked, "Permit Only," but the gallery manager said it was OK to park there. The gallery is in the northeast corner of the building, facing Broadway. The space is long and narrow. A wall of glass overhead doors limits exhibition space, but provides lots of light. The gallery showcases work from the 250+ NoBo members plus work from established artists along the Front Range. The front lobby of the gallery contains the NoBo Artisan Gift Shop which shows original art, decorative objects, and gifts. The space is available to rent for commercial and private events.

These guys stole my work (the cover of The Ween Coloring Book) and made prints of it to sell…read morewithout my involvement or permission. I have heard these guys have ripped off a lot of artists. It's a sham to call yourself an art gallery, these guys are rip off artists. This is not something that happens by mistake. A print shop KNOWS whether they have an artists consent (and contract) to reproduce their work. Poster Scene can pretend to be about art but what they are really about is stealing from the artists who are trying to make a humble living for themselves. Reproducing an image that an artist has created and may be doing a limited run of not only devalues the artists work, but it takes important buyers away from the creator who really depends on making every dollar they possibly can for their creations. Sadly a lot of people have messaged me to let me know they bought "my poster." These people are fans of MY work and thinking they are doing something to support and appreciate me, when the unfortunate truth is they are contributing to shady lowlifes who have no respect for what goes into making a living in the arts. I don't fault anyone who goes and buys a piece of illegally reproduced art but if you are a fan of art- the safe bet is always to buy DIRECTLY from the creator (artist or band) that you want to support. Lotsa fake middlemen out there!

Having known Jonathan since high school, I have seen the evolution of his art over three decades…read more In addition to being a profoundly gifted artist, Jonathan has always been prolific and consistent with his work. Seeing first hand his ability to create stunning pieces of vastly different sizes, in the early 1990s, I commissioned Jonathan to paint a beautiful mural (an image of the ascent up Flagstaff Mountain) in a restaurant I owned in Boulder (the Creative Café). Years later I commissioned him to draw what turned out to be a wonderful portrayal of Bear Peak (located in Boulder County). In addition to my walls, Jonathan's art hangs in the homes of my siblings and friends. Capturing the essence of his subject, his art never loses its dynamism and originality. Supremely talented, Jonathan is also project oriented; he gets things done regardless of the medium he is working with or the piece's size. I can't recommend this artist enough!
