So much so, that I was actually getting pretty burnt out and discouraged in finding "THE dress". From looking at dresses online and trying on so many different dresses, I knew exactly what I liked and what I didn't like in a dress. I knew custom was the route I needed to go, however I didn't want to pay over a certain amount and I assumed going custom would mean going over budget. After researching and reaching out to different places that do custom wedding dresses, I found that they either charged well beyond my budget or if they were more reasonably priced, I didn't have the confidence that they would be able to make my dress exactly how I wanted. Then I came across Ana Koi Bridal. They have many beautiful dresses already made in the boutique, but they also do custom dresses (which I think is so underrated and should be advertised more)! Their atelier is in Europe, as that's where the owner has connections. Looking at some of the custom dresses they did for brides, I felt really confident in their ability to get the design pat down, using all the materials I would be happy with. Beverly, the consultant I worked with, was amazing! I highly recommend her. She's such a sweet person and really made me feel at ease during the process. She had me try on dresses they currently had to see which elements I like from each and noted them down. I also showed pictures and videos of elements from other dresses I wanted for my dress. She's very organized and makes sure to ask about small details. The entire design process is collaborative, with approvals from the client along the way as it's being made. I should mention that the pricing is also excellent! It's comparable to the pricing for dresses pre-made. They are transparent about pricing, plus their alterations are super reasonable. Some places charge $600+ for alterations, but Ana Koi Bridal doesn't charge anywhere near that. You can check out their website for dresses they carry. If you want a custom dress, definitely pay them a visit!

They allow you to browse the store and start a fitting room. There's isn't much sales pressure and there is always a dedicated attendant to assist you with zipping up the dress. I felt comfortable and assisted in the right way when needed. I found a dress I was in love with, however it was in a rough condition. The sales lady tried her best to alter and steam the issue and even assisted with better pricing to offset the minor issue. I walked away and went for a coffee and browsed a few other stores, when I realized the way these dresses fit my body at this store is nothing like the other big boxed stores for straight and narrow body types. We were able to fit in an appointment the day before for Sunday at 11 a.m. Despite the dingy outside appearances, there's quite a great selection of dresses, and Susan, the sales rep who helped my friend, had a great attitude and fetched some great dresses. We came out with three great options. I don't know what my friend will decide on in the end; that's up to her. But out of all the stores we went to, we felt like we had the best customer try-on experience here. There wasn't any pressure to buy, and Susan was genuinely positive and friendly; we felt comfortable with her. Plus, the dress prices were more affordable, about $1100-$1200 for the ones we liked. Though the quality of the fabric may not be as high as some of the other dresses we tried on at more premium stores, what's most important is the style and how it looks in photographs. Though I think we only mentioned a budget of $1500 so maybe there are higher quality dresses at a higher price point. The customer service and value is among the best. Definitely give them a look if you're in the market for wedding dresses.

I gently reminded them a few times when it was late and they kept reassuring me it was on its way. I received the skirt one week before the wedding and the top the DAY BEFORE. No apology - in fact they were rude and made it sound like it was my fault! It needed serious alterations - the zipper was cheap and flimsy and didn't work properly - when I pointed it out to the owner she accused me of deliberately wrecking it when I tried it on in their store - the gall! After being two months late with my dress - she not only didn't apologize but accused me of being a vandal! The proprietor is a complete crook and is mean! mean! mean! I had to find a tailor who could fix it (I ended up going to my local drycleaner on the Saturday of a holiday weekend, the day before my wedding, begging them to redo the wonky zipper and to fix the top which didn't do up properly). It was so stressful since I was getting married in less than 24 hours! We had no other problems with any other vendors - even my parents, who know how business can be done in India sometimes, were shocked at her attitude. Never go here - the proprietor is dishonest and mean. I have never had such a bad experience with a store in my life, ever.

Also got the initial order wrong, then proceeded to blame my mother, and insist that the gown received was the one ordered. Horrible way to treat someone, let alone someone putting down a large sum of money for their sons wedding. This should have been a happy experience, but it was completely ruined by this woman's appalling customer service. When the manager was approached, it was shrugged off. Other staff in the building seemed nice, however the experience with this woman so hurt my mother I would go out of my way to ensure no one would have to deal with this woman again. Not a quick "I'll be with you in a minute", nor a smile. Nothing. And it didn't sound like an important business conversation from where we were standing. The lady on the upper level (whom we presume to be Josy) eventually asked if she could help us after a good three or four minute wait. After inquiring about wedding dress alterations, she asked if we had purchased it there and when we replied in the negative she said that they "usually don't do that". She then quickly changed her tune, claiming that her seamstress (who was supposedly on vacation) MIGHT be able to do it "if she had time" after altering dresses purchased there and to call back in a month (!!) when she was back from vacation. Now I'm not sure if this is the standard with most fashion places / seamstresses but I can tell you that Jean's Fashions (right down the road) was more than happy to help us out....they were actually happy to have our business and didn't treat us with contempt or indifference. I'm not sure if both ladies were perhaps just having a bad day or what but that's really beside the point. Isn't the customer king or queen? We're a pretty respectable looking young couple but even if we weren't, I still wouldn't expect such surly service. You had more than a fair chance to get our business but you lost it quite quickly!
