Elk Creek Country Store, Bumpass, VA, Dec 2025. This is a popular Exxon gas station/ convenience store serving a predominantly rural population near Lake Anna, VA. We often find that their gas prices are the best in the area, and they serve a variety of hot food items for lunch, making them the go-to place for many of the contractors, lawn care workers, etc. in the area. We have picked up eggs, bananas, and other groceries as well. In anticipation of upcoming snow, we dropped by a few days ago to see if they carried ice melt, but unfortunately, they didn't. read more

The chicken tenders are great always my go to when in the area. The staff ive had dealings with have been nice.

First the people are nice in a good way, and the food is amazing I really recommend this place.

The Town's Best Glam Moms. I am new to the area and this store is the closest convenience shop near my home. I stop in no less than 3 times a week, just to grab a bottle of wine and chat with my two favorite "Glam Moms". They always great me with a smile and a lovely story about their family or something happening at the lake. Be sure to stop in, say hello, checkout their variety of wines and grab a yummy honey biscuit. read more

I never leave reviews, or show my ass hardly EVER.. so enjoy this ranted review!! The face of a daily customer.... You would think by now out of respect if I buy a defective or faulty vape it would be refunded. I've spent thousands and thousands of dollars here over the years, what is a $25 vape??? I'll tell you what it is, it pissed me off when valeries little smart mouth told me they won't accept a refund or replace me with another. Hell I've bought hundreds of these damn things & you should be able to at least give me a replacement. Valerie could've had a better attitude relaying the no return policy on top of it!! Highlighted perfect start to my day let me just tell you how HEATED I AM and this has earned a horrible review. I hope Mike allows me a replacement after seeing these reviews or 15 years as a local buyer is out the window. read more

Mike the owner is really nice guy. Staff turnover has been alot since covid time and prices have steadily raised due to that. Still nice place to get chicken and food on occassion now. Also Mike has made the interior much nicer and cleaner inside since some of the older reviews were speaking about how dirty it was in the past with the previous owner. read more

This place has changed so much in the last year! They have a wonderful new deck and gazebo for relaxing and enjoying their delicious homemade meals! Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are all served there and every one of them is delicious. They even have ice cream and homemade cobbler to finish everything off! The chicken is the best and we have seen many folks coming just for the chicken, but there is so much more! They even have salads! The salads are great when you want something light, but there is even more! The home cooked meals are often in the warmer and ready to go. Their stuffed pepper meal is great! They have wonderful breakfast bowls ready to go and all kinds of breakfast sandwiches ready! Their greens are the best I have ever had, but the only problem is they don't serve the greens every day! Their hearty chili is hard to beat. Ask them for something special, and they fix it with a smile! They really care too! They often ask if everything is ok, and ask for your input on how they are doing! They have also really invested their hard earned dollar back into the appearance of this place and it is just wonderful! One of the best parts about going there is Terry! She can make your day with her hilarious greetings and wonderful sense of humor. She gives the place a very positive and down home feel! What a surprising treasure this store is. It was always good for coffee, newspapers, and necessary groceries but now they've added to their already excellent food selection (chicken or pizza my usual go-tos) with sandwiches, desserts etc. and put in a nice deck with outdoor seating. Wow, great level of service......big time sarcasm on that one. My girlfriend and I ordered ahead for some chicken and other side dishes for dinner. We get there and the place is caught in a timewarp. The place is old school with wood paneling adorning it. The woman behind the counter did not acknowledged us and was on her phone. After awkward silence for a minute, my girlfriend decided to get her attention by going around the counter to call her out. We took back our food to our place and it was meh. The chicken was lukewarm and the fries were not included in the family meal. We were cheated out of a few bucks on a missing item, which is never great. I understand service shouldn't be outstanding from places like this, but below average is kind of ridiculous. read more

I have been here about a thousand times for breakfast and lunch. Closest place to grab something to eat while chilling at the lake. Typical b-fast fare here... eggs/bacon/biscuits, etc.. Everything is always quick, tasty and hot. Prices are very reasonable as well. I would like to note that the Fried Chicken and potato wedges take me back to when I used to eat these meal at Wades Supermarket back home. If you are @ Lake Anna and want a cheap and quick meal, or just stopping for gas/bait. Then this is your place. And you gotta love the name of the little town.. Bumpass... lol read more

If you try to redeem you check in deal (one scoop ice cream cone) you will have a very difficult time. The clerk I talked to wouldn't honor it so I had to come back when management was in. So when I came back I spoke with the clerk behind the counter. She and her husband (owners) argued about it in front of me. When she finally decided to honor the coupon she was very rude and unhappy about giving out the free scoop. She also made comments about me needing to buy something else while I was in there. Every one go to elk creek and do your best to get free ice cream! If they don't want it on yelp they should take it off. read more

Filthy!!! Even the credit card terminal screen is dirty. They do a good business, but refuse to clean this establishment. Counter staff is off & on, one day it's a smile, the next visit could bring a snarl. I only stop when desperate, Food Lion is a few miles away. 4 months later and this place continues to go downhill. read more

My family and I drive from Orlando Fl to Mineral Va every July fourth to visit family and see the infamous Lake Anna fireworks! Elk Creek is always our go-to gas station to fill up before our 13 hour drive back home. Love the cheap gas and good chicken. read more

I really don't like much about this store other than the convenience it offers. I feel like if there was another option, even if it meant driving a little out if my way, It would probably be worth it. However, the greasy gas-station food smells delicious (if that's what you're into) and they do have a decent selection of snack items. Oh, one more thing. The gas pumps are very slow. read more

I have visited this store numerous times recently. The fried chicken is delicious! Unfortunately the staff leaves allot to be desired. Actually it's only the two younger women that work there. The one has the biggest attitude (bigger than her braids). She never smiles or looks at the customers. She never says "thank you" and when I had a complaint, she was downright rude! Instead of asking how she could fix my problem, she said "so!" Totally unbelievable. I think the owner must be afraid of these women. If she doesn't want to work, then go home. I don't think I'm going back in there because when i spoke to the owner about my concerns, two of the women were in the back, behind him, looking at me and talking about me, pointing and laughing. Usually stop here for gas. Today we went for gas and about 30 minutes after we left there were two charges for the same amount from Brazil- I cant recall noticing a skimmer on the pump or not. The bank has cancelled my cards and I will be more diligent at all gas pumps for now on. read more

The baloney burger with cheese all the way (fried onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle and mayo) is spectacular and easily the best value (at $3.79) for 50 miles. It alone makes this a destination. Great fries and breakfast sandwiches as well. read more

The food there isn't half bad. Most of the employees there are very helpful and are friendly. The reason for the one star is because of a recent event that occured. I walked to into elk creek and went to the back and grabbed two things of worms and stood in line. The manager ( a tall Indian man) was standing up at the register with an employee trying to get it open. After standing there for 5 minutes I asked if I could just give him the cash and go. He says sure and checks the worms. He immediately looks at me and says "There are more than twelve in here." Puzzled, I say yea and laughed then slowly realized he is accusing me of putting extra worms in the two containers (STEALING). I have been coming to this store for about two years. The week before, I was in the store talking to that same guy about the pizza they serve. I don't think he is racist;however, he needs to understand that not every customer that comes into the store needs to steal!! Very disappointed in what occured and will no longer be taking my business there. read more
