We were walk ins on a Saturday night, it's recommended to have a reservation, luckily we were able to sit at the bar. It took about 15-20 mins for the bartender to get to us, she did acknowledge us before then tho. They should probably have 2 bartenders on weekends; one on well and the other serving guests. Eventually we were able to give our orders. I ordered a blueberry basil martini with vodka, my husband got a pineapple ginger drink (I think). My drink was ok, the basil was over powering tho. My husband liked his. For an appetizer I ordered the sausage lentil soup, it was really amazing. The flavor was savory and the sausage was minced so you didn't have any huge pieces. For dinner I had the saffron chicken ragu. I enjoyed this pasta. The pasta isn't home made but you can tell it's fresh (not dried out before cooking); It reminded me of a cheesy spaghetti, the chicken is minced as well so it's not like chopped/sliced chicken breast. My husband ordered the summer pasta. I liked that one as well. It had whole garlic Cloves, which I love garlic, and a fresh light flavor to it. For dessert we ordered the vanilla bean crème brûlée, no complaints there. The restaurant itself is small, a bit loud since it was busy, and you'll definitely need some patience on a busy night. Went in for dinner with some friends, who had been there before. First trip for me. My wife ordered the Caprese, and the watermelon salad. Neither one of those is my cup of tea, but she said they were great. I ordered the Saffron Chicken Ragu, which was excellent. It was a ton of food, and the beer was cold. Great place to eat. Only negative was the service. A bit slow, and somewhat surprising given that it was a Thursday night and they really were only about 1/3 full. Still, we'll definitely go back. read more

I It was lovely. I ordered one of the most affordable items on the menu -- an $18 hamburger -- and it was so delicious, I didn't regret the cost for a second. I'm sure I'd feel the same about their $40 steak, though that's beyond my budget. It's a shame, because while I'm a great home cook, the extra care and attention they put into making such an amazing burger makes me certain their steak would be even more remarkable. Well, I went in for a prime rib on prime rib night and it was like eating a catchers mitt. Not to mention how slow the servers are. I walked out of there thinking the joke was on me. Violated. I could have had an awesome prime rib at home for way less money. Better luck next time folks, if there is one. My wife still makes fun of me for wanting to go there. It's also very loud in there as well, not that I really care about that if the food and the service is good. So out of the three ratings for this post all three were a little bit, excuse me, a lot lacking. I'm not telling you don't go there. I'm saying go there and find out for yourself. Just like I did, sucker! Maybe they'll read this and step up their game? One can only hope since we have a severe lack of nice restaurants in Louisa. I wish that would be the case. My husband and I had an early lunch at Obrigado Restaurant on a Wednesday. We arrived close to opening time (around 11:30 am), and only one other couple was seated. By the time we left, at least 6-7 tables were occupied, plus there were patrons at the bar and quite a few coming in for take-out orders. Food. (4/5). I ordered a French Dip sandwich ($15, + $0.50 for optional provolone cheese) from the Lunch Specials menu. Per the menu, this was shaved prime rib with grilled mushrooms and onions on a toasty baguette. It was served with a side of au jus for dipping, a few pickle slices, and your choice of fresh potato chips, French fries, or homemade (mayonnaise-based) coleslaw. I selected the French Fries. My husband selected a Falafel Sandwich ($11), which consisted of two homemade garbanzo bean patties, tzatziki yogurt sauce, lettuce, sliced tomato and red onion on a grilled flat bread. My husband opted for the fresh chips as his side dish. This was also served with a few pickle slices. Overall, the food was very good, and tasted both fresh and home-made. Kudos especially for the garlicky taste of the falafel, and the warmth and freshness of the tasty baguette/pita breads. We rated the food as 4 instead of 5 because the falafel were a bit small, and were barely lukewarm when they were served. The fries were also over-salted for our taste, and the chips were inconsistently cooked. (Some were crispy; others, soggy). Ambiance. (4.5/5). This is a very comfortable and welcoming restaurant. Indoors, there is a full bar, with stool seating, as well as individual tables that fit 2 or 4 persons. There is also a rack that showcases a selection of wines. The walls feature colorful paintings, as well as stained glass masterpieces along the front window. (Based on photos posted here, we're disappointed that we missed the artwork in the restroom!). Our tabletop had a copper finish. Our only negative comment is that the music was distractingly loud, but the hostess turned it down upon our request. Service. (5/5). Our waitress was friendly and responsive. Our food reached us relatively quickly. A few final notes. 1. Check out the restaurant's website. There are specialty nights at the restaurant. For instance, "Lotsa Pasta", which features all you can eat pasta with homemade sauces, on Wednesday evenings. 2. Parking was relatively easy. We found parking directly in front of the restaurant on W. Main Street. Note that there's also a free lot if you continue down the road to the next intersection. 3. Note that the restaurant is currently open only on Wednesdays-Saturdays, and reservations are highly recommended on Friday and Saturday nights. 4. It appears that there is outdoor seating in front of the restaurant during warmer times. 5. Great to have this restaurant in Louisa. We look forward to our next visit! read more

This place ROCKS! Bartender (Mariah) A+. Food A+. Drive from goochland.... worth every mile. Mariah started us off with incredible drinks- my favorite: peach ginger bourbon smash. Delish! Appetizers were cornmeal crusted fried oysters and bay scallops with pesto and grape tomatoes. Both fantastic but the oysters stole the show (sorry, no picture. We are them too fast!). We split the special harvest salad (spinach, blue cheese, blueberries, blackberries, walnuts and balsamic dressing- soooo good) and the chipotle roast pork (spicy chipotle roasted pork over hominy grits, su jus, avocado and pico)- the very best pork we have ever had). I would be remiss if I didn't give props to the homemade everything seasoning topped bread. So so so so good. I truly can't say enough about how good this place is. 5 stars. We tried Obrigado once for dinner and we were disappointed. Attitude from the waitress, Rachel, and long wait for subpar food. Tried it again and Erin was wonderful with our family. We have eaten at Obrigado many times but it's been a long while since our last visit. We were very impressed. We were prepared for a long wait and minimal staff. Not the case tonight. Our waitress, Lindsey, was very attentive. The meals took a little longer than normal but I think that was because the restaurant was super crowded and I'm sure things in the kitchen were very busy. We had the Tappas (Caprese with Burrata) which was excellent. I had the grilled pizza which was very good too! I will say that Jade is very lucky to have a great staff. They all hustled and everyone was extremely eager to make our dining experience a good one. read more

Our first experience dining here. I would give the food a 4 and the kitchen/wait staff a 2.5. We arrived shortly after 6 pm - ordered wine and sangria and ordered meals promptly. Potato nacho appetizer, bucatini entree and caprese salad. Appetizer and entree were standard menu options - the salad was a special. We enjoyed the potato nachos and the bread/olive basket was a nice touch. At approx 710 our server approached us with an apology for the delay - we simply asked to have our meal boxed as we had a long drive home . She seemed put off by the request - I didn't think it was unreasonable. At almost an hour wait for spaghetti dish and caprese salad seems a bit much on a Thurs night. What I found odd was the servers unwillingness to make eye contact and attitude when delivering the check - as if we had done something wrong. She did comp our cocktails which was nice, but the whole experience left us unsettled. I work in foodservice and leaving a customer with a bad impression is never good. I do hope to return and enjoy a meal "in house" as we prefer to support local rather than chain and this is one of the nicer options in Louisa. read more

The food is outstanding , we got the appetizer advertised as topas including roasted red pepper , baked spiced feta tomatoes and mussels. The description was deceiving having been a bowl of well seasoned mussels with little feta and missing the peppers all together. Loved the flavor just confused about the description . As for the entree , we asked if we could substitute a salad for the baked potatoe and Cole slaw and the waitress assured we could . When the bill came we were surprised to see we were charged extra for the salad even though the sides weren't served as part of the meal . Service was slow , but fortunately we were in no hurry . We will return , just look at your Bill closely and ask for clarification on food preparation. read more

We live close by and have never been in. Stopped by casually as we were running errands and had lunch. Jacob was our server and he was so pleasant. The other hosts were warm and hospitable as well. The atmosphere is quaint and cafe like. I had a Turkey on sourdough and husband had Cesar salad. They were awesome! Fresh and portions were very robust. Have the other half for later! I always stop here to eat whenever I am in the area. It is quite a find for little ole Louisa. The menu has many inspired choices and they always have some incredible specials. I have tried just about everything and always enjoyed my meal. I especially love their Paella (a Saturday night special). The restaurant's name ("thank you" in Portuguese) is well deserved as the service is always prompt, courteous and gracious. They used to have a back room where they had live music on weekends. Sadly, that is gone now. But I still come back for a lovely meal. read more

Outstanding food and service. We ate dinner here last night and everything from the bread and olive oil to the desserts were home made and above all expectations. I am going to be here a lot more. The fryer was down so my normal go to of fried oysters was off the menu. But wait, the chef had a solution. Oysters in a mushroom cream sauce with fine spaghetti. Amazing. My partner had the mushroom ravioli made with locally sourced mushrooms and she was very pleased. We had ordered the potato skin appetizer but never expected that it would be a huge plate of creamy cheesy goodness with chives and bacon. The chocolate peanut butter pie and blueberry crumble cobbler were a perfect ending to a great dining experience. Next on the menu, who knows? I'll be perfectly honest, when I was with friends near Louisa feeling rather worse for wear after a very long tiring but fun weekend when my buddy suggested "Let's check out this diner, should be good" I had reservations as I know diners at least now a days can be really hit or miss. I could not have been more wrong about this place. The interior has your general country diner tables and chairs, along with the generic thick walled white coffee mugs and plastic water cups. The walls however are absolutely wildly colorful, there is art everywhere and all of it is great. From stained glass in the front window to hundreds of paintings lining the walls the décor is really well done (there was less wall space showing than paintings). Also, check out the large paintings in the bathrooms if you're in for a good eye opener. As far as the food goes it's excellently done. I had a pretty out of the norm Cuban Panini (sliced bread instead of a roll) that was absolutely delicious, crispy fries and their pumpkin chocolate roll (breads and biscuits are brought out before the meal) was a god send. I'll definitely go back every time I'm even near Louisa, as I would like to try the rest of their menu! read more
