I get panicky easily when visiting any office, but in theirs, I get a great vibe and have never even been close to having an attack. Holy cow!!! We had an emergency with our 6 year old having some trauma to his front teeth. Dr. Sandretti and Theresa came into the office on a Saturday to help us out in a pinch. Took 4 months for them to get my referral to an oral surgeon done. On top of that, my teenager is also a patient here and we were 5 mins late to my his appt today and were rescheduled a month out after they checked us in for 20 minutes already. 1st off, if you couldn't see us for being exactly 5 minutes late, you shouldn't have checked us in and made us wait 20 minutes. 2nd off, as a working parent, I had to take PTO to take my son to his appt. After being 5 minutes late due to an accident on the road, we're made to wait 20 minutes before being informed we're to be rescheduled a month out. That's a waste of my gas and time. I had planned to get my own braces done here and my other son's done here as well but we will go somewhere else that is more flexible. read more

Almost four years ago I had a really bad TMJ problem that caused daily headaches and on top of that my bite worsened every year as I got older. I've seen a few Orthodontics in the past but they all recommended major Oral surgery to fix my issues. I'd almost given up but went to Dr. Donald Rollofson on my dentist advice and the rest as they say is history!!! I am so glad I did. On the initial consultation, Dr. Rollofson showed me pictures of one of his past patients that had similar problems and Dr. Rollofson was able to fix both TMJ and Cross-bit issues that was all the proof I needed. My treatment was not speedy but very successful and today I have a perfect bite and smile to proof. Not satisfied with my teeth for the longest time, I decided it was time to get braces- or at least what I needed, a quote "for" my braces. So as I searched for a few locations, I decided to visit this establishment shortly after my quick over-the-phone-appointment and what was called in for a free consultation. Received a nice welcome and patient information paper to fill out in the mail a few days after. Not a bad way to approach a new patient. The day came and as I arrived to office, there was nothing but all smiles and friendly staffs. I immediately felt welcomed, but was anticipating on behalf of my consultation. I was taken in after a few minutes later and was seated by an assistant. She helped me for a few minutes, until Dr. Rollofson came quick to introduce himself. He was very nice and informative but also, left out the prices of the x-ray exams and impression fee. Nope, did not mention anything. Nothing about prices whatsoever even after having a 10 minute conversation with him. And before our conversation ended, he asked "If you have time, we can actually go ahead and start your X-rays and impression right now". Not knowing or informed that it was a separate service, I agreed and went along with the x-rays and impression. The assistant came back and asked me if I wanted to start with my x-rays since I'm free, to then follow up with the next appointment about the prices. Here, again, I assumed the x-ray was included and was part of the free exam since she also did not mention anything about prices. That was, until I checked out. I left my chair and came up to the counter to sign out. The staff that helped me said, "Ok, would you like for this payment to be billed to your home or did you want to pay today?". Stopped in my tracks, I responded, "I'm sorry, what did I have to pay for again?". "Oh I'm not sure if you were told about the x-rays and impressions, but it is $195", she said. Confused, but still patient I said "Absolutely, NOT. And no, I was NOT informed about the $195. I was NOT told that that was how much the x-rays and impression were going to be". The staff then said "oh...yeah, it'll be $195. Do you have dental plans of some sort?..I hope you do so that your dental plans will cover you..". And when I left, I was very unhappy. Perhaps, I didn't come in there and reminded them of my free consultation and that a quote was ALL i needed, nothing more. I wish I wasn't misinformed about the information given by two people, for an unplanned $195 visit is not cheap and as I was just not ready to just cough up for that x-ray. But what can I do now that it's been all done and said? Nice Dr. Nice staffs. But don't think I'll be returning to a place full of unicorn, rainbows, and puppies coming out of the Dr's mouth every time he speaks. Sorry, not looking for that. Just looking for a place that's more straight forward with all the services and a list of prices in front of my face like an in-n-out's menu. read more

I don't know if orthodontist offices are allowed to treat a minor without an adult's consent, but I do know I never provided a verbal authorization much less a signed contract regarding payment. I live in Virginia. The first billing came with a letter explaining my mother took my minor son to this office, had some work done, told them to bill me...and they did!! I called the office immediately. There wasn't anything to explain. It seemed obvious that their office completed services before securing financial responsibility. I thought it was taken care of after this first call. However, their billing representative did not handle the phone call professionally nor with empathy. Instead, one month later I received another bill. We're going on three days now and I'm still awaiting a return call to the message I left. I can't speak to their quality of work, but no matter how good it may be, I couldn't imagine it's worth dealing with a billing department this difficult, uncaring and unethical. read more

Dr. Rollofson is AMAZING! Our eight-year old has a cross bite which is apparently very challenging to correct. We met with several orthodontists before a friend referred us to Elk Grove Orthodontics. While other orthodontists proposed very invasive (and really expensive) methods to correct it, Dr. Rollofson has done miracles with no invasive procedures---just a retainer! Being in the dental field myself I have heard great things about Dr. Rollofson, and I was very impressed when I took my 8 year-old son into his office this last week. He is so personable and upon meeting him you can tell how knowledgeable he is . I also loved the atmosphere of his office, all the assistants were very friendly & there is a very positive/ upbeat vibe to the office which I believe helps the kids be more relaxed about going through orthodontic treatment. I have known this Dentist before I had kids since he put both my brother in laws braces. Now that I have kids of my own and we decided to come here. This place is one of the best dentist ever. The girls are so friendly up front and very accommodating to your schedule. The office is fully staff and they never take short cuts with you. Everyone is great with kids and adults patients. They been around 30+ years and that goes to show how great they are with their patients. I would recommend this place to all my friends if they need and orthodontist in Elk Grove. The tech (can't remember her name) explained the what and why of each scan that was taken, and she let us look at them as well.
