Blessing! That is how I would describe my Mom's experience with Dr. Adams and his staff. My Mom had an accidental fall while volunteering at a local hospital (she is 86!). After getting stitched up, our amazing dental office contacted their neighbor in the building, Laguna Orthodontics, to see if they could help by resetting and repositioning my Mom's top 6 teeth. They made every effort to squeeze my Mom in, reassure her, X-Ray her, put braces on her, reassure her again, and promised her that her teeth would be more beautiful than they did before the fall! :) They were all so patient, calm, funny, and caring. They stayed after hours until everything was completed (my Mom had to go back and forth between the dentist and orthodontist offices). I am so thankful for Dr. Adams and his staff. At first, I really thought I had found a great orthodontist. They came off friendly, professional, and genuinely invested in my treatment. Fast forward to the end of my treatment and everything changed. The second the checks stopped coming in, so did the basic human decency. I had a permanent retainer placed (which THEY recommended, mind you), and I was told that if anything ever happened to it, they'd take care of it--no problem. What they didn't tell me was that this so-called "permanent" retainer is basically guaranteed to break faster than a removable one, and that they'd nickel and dime me every time it needed repair. No transparency, no warning, just extra charges and excuses. It's been TWO WEEKS since I reached out about getting it fixed and I haven't heard a single word back. Nothing. Complete radio silence. So much for being a "valued patient." The minute you're no longer an active, paying client, you're invisible. They treat you like a number, not a person. The staff has become cold, dismissive, and downright rude. You can tell they only care about getting people in, getting their money, and getting them out. This whole experience feels like a big money grab wrapped in a fake smile and a lab coat. If you want to be strung along, ignored when it actually matters, and then charged extra for things you were misled about--this is your place. Otherwise, run far and fast. 100/100 Customer service, extremely friendly, really accommodating when it came to scheduling my checks up due to to working night shifts. Dr. Adams took his time in analyzing and tracking my progess. One random day I was wearing a Kings hat, and he asked for my email address, he sent me Kings tickets while they were on a hot streak ! In the middle of one of my appts, I had to leave to rush over to the hospital to visit a loved one. Not enough words to express how much I appreciate this practice! I have two children who are patients of Dr. Adams. My oldest came to Dr. Adams after a couple of other consultations and I wished we had gone to Dr. Adams first. He would've saved my son from the extra teeth pulling and may have been able to suggest more preventative/alternative approaches. I know a few friends whose kids have gone to Dr. Adams and he's done proactive things up front to save their kids time with braces or helped them to avoid braces. That's a great partnership--orthodontist working with the patients to recommend the most effective and cost-efficient options. My younger daughter is now a patient here and Dr. Adams has been monitoring her the last two years to proactively offer options for us. She has expanders now to help her jaws adjust to the incoming adult teeth. All this said, a true mark of a practice is how they deal with emergencies. Dr. Adams was the kindest in helping us deal with broken retainers. When my daughter's expander came lose over Xmas break, we were able to get his office during after hours on a holiday. We were seen the following day and expander fixed. Ambiance: clean, big fish tank always a plus for the kids. Keurig coffee machine for the parents. Staff: super friendly, from the receptionist to the assistants. The finance gal is extremely helpful and offers great tips on how to work with our insurance. The good doctor: Dr. Adams has young children that go to school in the area so he is a very empathic parent above being a dentist. He is soft-spoken with the kids and can shoot the breeze with them. We know that he gives back to the community, sponsoring several big STEM projects in the district or whatever we need at our school. The kids: most of them seem to like being at the office. There is a kids program where if they arrive on time, take care of their teeth, etc., they get points. The points are tracked and can be redeemed for gift cards, etc. This gamification is a great program for the kids The only downside here is that if you miss an appointment, it takes a while to rebook due to the fact that Dr. Adams is busy and he also teaches at UC SF (hey, I'd want my doctor to be up-to-date in all the advances in his field and UC SF is a very good school). . read more

Before my first son needed braces, I decided to visit three orthodontists. Laguna Orthodontics was our first stop. My son decided he didn't want to go anywhere else after coming here! Possibly the nicest and most customer friendly place ever. Every time we have been here (that would be so many times. Pre-braces, braces and now post-braces) we are greeted with a smile. The feeling you come away with is that Dr. Adams wants you to wear your braces for the shortest time possible and if you follow his and his staff's direction, you will. In some ways this is a 5 star office, and others its a 2 star office, so I give the office 3 stars. I have a child in the middle of staged treatment. In the past my oldest son needed an emergency appointment we called around 4/5, and the issue was not resolved until 4/27/2017, being a busy mom, a full time working Nurse, I need a Orthodontist who has more availability to provide care, so we will be looking for another office to complete my youngest son's staged treatment plan, the work Dr. Adams started. I was able to complete care for my oldest son, his braces were off today, and his teethe look very nice! The difficult times are always worth it when we see our kids smile! read more

I saw my friend had the braces done by Dr. Adams. She is very happy with the results; so I went there for a consultation. At the consultation appointment, Dr. Adams told me exactly what I wanted; such as, he would remove the bad teeth (my molars) which in my thoughts that I didn't want to keep these bad teeth and he spoke it for me. Also, at the consultation appointment, there was no X-ray taken at his office, Dr.Adams provided consultation based on the X-rays he requested from my family dentist. I decided to move forward to get X-rays, recordings which cost $395 to my insurance due to the impressive consultation appointment that he could be able to achieve the results I wanted by extracting these bad teeth. Also, I was so impressed when he stated that there would no problem of moving the crowned/bridges. The only thing I wasn't very happy that at the consultation appointment Dr. Adams didn't talk to me about all of this. Also after the X-rays appointment, I wasn't contacted for the next steps. I followed up couple times and finally I was scheduled to see him. I was so disappointed that when he pointed out that extracting the bad teeth is not a good option after he reviewed and did the analysis. He carefully explained to me why and truly appreciated his time. I am an adult and over 40 years old, I don't want to have my good teeth extracted because I may not have any good teeth left as I am getting older. I was referred to Dr. Adams from a friend. After she got her braces off, her smile was beautiful and her teeth were incredibly straight. I needed to get braces put back on after several years without wearing my retainer so my teeth shifted. It was a pleasure to visit Laguna Orthodontics for a correction with my permanent retainer. I visited for a consultation about the removal of the bonded wire and possible replacement, taking into consideration my insurance benefits. The office staff is incredibly professional and helpful; you can't say anything bad about their caliber of service. Consulting with Dr. Adams was a wonderful experience, and he did not push me into racking up bills for things I didn't need. He was very fair and honest in his evaluation, and I really appreciated that. Conveniently, he was able to get me in to have the minor work done (removing the bonded wire) immediately after the consultation, and I was in and out in less than an hour! Dr. Adams and his team are excellent! I was referred to Laguna Orthodontics by one of my friends who is a dentist. I am glad I was! Dr. Adams is very professional, friendly, always takes time to listen if there are any concerns, explains options of treatments to consider and offers his advice on timeline of recommended treatments. My older daughter loves her beautiful smile already after completing treatments with Dr. Adams, consisted of retainer and braces.
