I was in charge of finding a home big enough for us to rent. I did a lot of research and used one or two, especially VRBO. I chose the Gold Stone Lodge, owned by Deerview Bed & Breakfast. What a lovely place. Everyone enjoyed it. This place is west of Hill City, which is centrally located in the Black Hills. It is right next to the Mickelson Trail which is great for runners, hikers, casual walkers and bicyclists. Really beautiful in the early morning. A horde of wild turkeys was in our yard one evening. (I don't know what you call a large group of wild turkeys). We were within walking distance of a place where you can go horseback riding. This is the first time our family has done this: rent a home together. I mention that because it may have been a bit expensive perhaps but I'm not sure on that. Linda, the owner, and her husband are very friendly. One day Linda had to come and see if the last renters left an item but she called ahead to be sure that it was OK.
