Had a fantastic time yesterday. Wife and I reserved tubes for rental, and planned on a float. When we arrived, Joe advised us that with river levels, it would likely be a very long float (no paddles). So, we decided to upgrade to a tandem kayak, and had a great time. Special shout outs to both Joe, who got us all checked in, and Mark, the shuttle driver, who was very helpful with getting us into the water and entertaining. read more

We had a great time on a four hour float from Kozy Kamp on the elk river! The 6 person raft was spacious and aired up nicely. The prices were comparable to others nearby, and we had great service from beginning to end. Easy, simple, got on the water fast and had a great time. read more

This camp site was just what we needed. My only disappointment was that the employees did not wear masks. Which just encouraged the other people (at the check in desk, on the bus on the way to the start of the float, etc) to not wear masks either. Otherwise, the stilt cabins were great! A little rustic, sure, but isn't that what we're all here for? We were given locks for the door and there were fire pits outside of each cabin. We were also feet away from the river, and the bathroom, while again, rustic, was convenient and had running water. Just bring your own toilet paper! We originally planned to float on tubes, but a super friendly employee talked to us about the water level and encouraged we switch to a raft (same price for our group) which was an excellent suggestion. This is a very beautiful piece of water. But if you're looking for a quiet natured, this probably isn't the place as the river is more famously known for good times and floating coolers. I think people forget how far their voice carries where they're talking on water. Summer it is not unusual to see 30 or more rafts and canoes In a stretch. Anything you want and there is camping nearby. The staff is friendly I could more to the finer customer service issues. Offering helpful suggestions for the newbies. Making sure the life vest are cleaner. Be sure to check your vest or sweat and sand before hitting the water as you may want to swap out for a dryer one or one that is less swampy. There could be more signage as you approach the return point as well since there's no one there to greet you And it is a bit hidden from the curve and the bridge that comes just before it. The price was reasonable and they have plenty of equipment, but do you get there early for a little more peace and quiet. read more

This was a really bad camping and floating experience. The campsites are like dominos, nearly stacked on top of each other. We barely had room to walk around our camper. There weren't enough picnic tables to go around. The water and electricity was a plus but there wasn't any shade so the AC was running full blast the entire time. We also had fleas jumping on us while we were sitting outside. The next morning we had reservations for a raft. When we got to the launch around 10:15, there were at least 65 people standing around waiting. We then learned it was because they ran out of paddles. How did they not know how many reservations they had? There is only 1 guy trying to run all of the kayaks, canoes, and rafts, so we stood there for an hour and a half before they put us in. Elk River is a great float but would highly recommend camping and launching from 1 of the other sites. We will not be returning to Kozy Kamp. read more

No privacy, bootleg accommodations and classless clientele. We stayed over the busy holiday weekend (4th of July) but couldn't make it up until Saturday. We had a primitive campsite on Saturday then a cabin on Sunday. We are avid campers and not the hardest people to please and we like to drink, we've been on many a float trip but here goes: The staff was friendly but not helpful in that they pointed to a row of sites to choose from from on Saturday and we could only access one of them as other campers were parked in all of the primitive spots along the back of the grounds...we didn't even know they were sites since you can't see the numbers until we parked near a fire ring and decided to call it a site. The campers were completely rude and trashy. There was a guy throwing up off the cabin balcony, another barfing into a trash can in the office on Sunday and a couple who tried to fight my husband and I after almost running me over with their car. They had a "festival" on Saturday that went until midnight with loud crappy music (and an amazing read: hilariously awful suits and boots contest) even though quiet hours began at 10, other campers competing with the festival blasting horrible country until all hours and beginning again in the early morning. You are literally on top of other campers with absolutely no privacy and downright awful bathrooms. My husband and I both agreed that prison must have better accommodations. Doors barely close with a rope and strangers will basically walk in on you using the bathroom or showers. In a word- filthyhotstinkingofpoobarfsweatcigarettes. The "air conditioned" cabin had an AC unit but it never cooled the cabin down; no window coverings, insulation and again with the rope closed door. The shower is in the same small space with the toilet using the same water source...they believe pvc can be used for anything. Speaking of, it leaked poo/shower/sink water under the cabin onto the picnic table. All that said it was a luxury compared to the bath house. The bed spots do not have any type of mats or pads of any kind so you're sleeping on a hard piece of plywood. The ground was less firm and way more comfortable. What could be kitschy decor somewhere else was just piece meal junk at Kozy. I am sorry for the handyman who will see this review as he was a very pleasant guy - just did very shoddy work, of which he was very proud. Biting flies were everywhere, even with bug spray we were covered in bites. The raft was fine and the river beautiful - I will be back, just not at Kozy Kamp, I hear shady beach is very nice. read more

We had taken the day off during the week in April to go canoeing. When we got to Kozy Kamp we were disappointed that they were closed even though they posted that they were open. Turns out they had an emergency that took them away, but they called us back and went above and beyond to make up for it. It's rare to have a business go that extra step to fix a problem, but Kozy Kamp absolutely knows what true customer service is. Looking forward to coming back. read more

We stayed here as Passport America members at $15/night. Friendly staff...even gave us fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from their garden. We were backed right up to the river in a 40 ft. motorhome. Nothing fancy...just fun. read more
