    BBQ Nachos

This place is about a 20 min drive from Snowshoe but it is so worth it! The trout here is all fresh because they harvest from their pools surrounding the restaurant! The food was so fresh and we got the smoked trout starter, and this was absolutely amazing. I got the BBQ brisket nachos and this thing was huge and was only $10! It was more than enough for me! My wife and son had the fish and chips, and they both said 5 stars as well. Then we had the dessert and the Oreo pie is a must try, and it made daily on site! This place is definitely worth the trip, and it's a cool place to walk around and check out the river!

Plus fairy lights going across the entrance, bridge, front porch and back porch the outside of the treehouse I was kinda disappointed at first looking at the outside. Also you all need to rearrange everything because that bathroom was so small and the sink was in the bedroom instead of the bathroom plus the bathroom light switch was in the kitchen?? One of the bathroom doors wouldn't lock. Also when someone is walking on the bridge the whole house shakes. Other than that it was a nice place to stay at for a couple of days!

We stayed in the Black Bear Cabin, and it was everything we hoped for. The cabin's location was ideal: less than 10 minutes from the New River Gorge Bridge, tucked away at the end of a private gravel road, and surrounded by over an acre of rolling mountain meadow (which was ideal for tossing a football with my son). The cabin itself boasts a well-stocked kitchen with modern appliances, a 50" smart TV for our movie nights, a stackable washer and dryer, a wrap-around porch for coffee while watching the fog lift, and even a hot tub to soak away the day's adventures. The cabin had three comfortably furnished bedrooms, featuring a luxurious king in the master with an en suite bath, plus a queen and twin beds in the other rooms, the cabin comfortably accommodated our family. We also enjoyed the rustic charm of the gas fireplace and the modern yet cozy furniture throughout. When we encountered one maintenance issue, the service staff was very responsive and resolved it quickly, keeping our vacation uninterrupted. The cabin's central location made it easy to explore other local attractions like Pie's & Pints, the Escape-A-Torium, the Bridge Walk, and plenty of nearby hikes. We left with lasting memories and a promise to return soon. Country Road Cabins will definitely be our go-to spot on our next visit to the area!

There were bugs in the cabin; earwigs, spiders, ants, beetles and a slug. No A/C!!!! Beds, bedding, couches were all old and uncomfortable. Towels are rough (bring your own). Fridge was very run down and rusted, the stove had a burner that didn't seem to work and was very old. $295 per night.... I would never stay here again. This is what I would be able to pay for a luxury hotel. Not worth it.

The river view and sounds on one side are delightful and relaxing. The Greenbrier Trail is just on the other side, with great rides in both directions. It was nice that we could just hop on our bikes and ride. We had an issue with the lack of advertised wifi (removed the week before because the carrier was so unreliable). The owners were very understanding and made it right for us. We WERE able to get access to some spotty wifi at the corner store a half mile away and better wifi at the coffee shop in Marlinton. We learned from various sources that internet service in Pocahontas County is like a third world country. Can't really blame the owners for that! We also had an issue with the water, as mentioned by another reviewer. It is nasty! You quickly discover that it is NOT drinkable. Even one of our dogs got sick from it. So, bring bottled water or get it at the nearby corner store. There seem to be some other sanitation issues on a neighbor building too, since we smelled their sewer towards the end of the week. Not too bad, but we were aware. It was near the end of the season, and there had been a lot of rain before, so maybe it was due for a pumping. Overall, we would visit again. The owners seem to be good and conscientious people who made every effort to ensure we had a good experience.

The houseboat was in good working order, had all the amenities dishes, toaster, TV, Vcr, 2 staterooms with double bed, two additional berths with double beds and the couch pulls out to a double bed. The boat was pretty simple to operate. Cell Service we had service in two of closest coves to the marina , AT&T no Verizon. We didn't have any complainants .. other then poor weather. You just have to have reasonable expectations. This is glorified camping on the water. We had a great time three generations of boys getting together to do a little fishing while we ate good, played some cards, watched a couple of movies, explored the lake. Cons: The lake is allegedly dry, but it seems to be one of those don't ask don't tell type things. Tips: Bring some work gloves when you are tying the boat to shore there are a few sticker bushes etc, bring a small hatchet same issue to use when tying the boat off. I would also have a pair of jeans for the same purpose. next year we will probably bring a small dingy to pull behind to do a little fishing from.

While on the resort though, I did like how the lodging looked. If I were to go back I definitely would instead just go ahead and stay on the mountain resort because driving through the woods / mountain to get to and from the resort to the air bnb was not fun at all; especially at night! Snow tubing: we went snow tubing during the night time. There weren't too many other people there during this time, so the line to keep tubing over and over wasn't much of a wait at all. I give the experience a 10/10 overall. It was fun and different. Snowboarding: when we first got into all our gear and equipment, we were just told to go outside. We were all under the impression that we would receive a tutorial or instructional presentation about first time snowboarding, but that did NOT happen. Had entirely no clue there was even a "practice" area until after I slipped and fell on the ice and my snowboard went flying down the mountain and into the woods. I went and got help from the emergency team who then informed us that there was a practice area to go to first. I ended up staying in that practice area the whole time and completely wasted my money on having a ski lift ticket. I thought a practice area would've been at the bottom of the mountain where we'd start at, so the ski lift ticket would be needed once you're comfortable and can go ski/snowboard from the very top but no, u start at (like get on the actual slope at) and the practice area are both mid - mountain. Overall the experience was a 7/10. It's possible I'll give Snowshoe another try in the future now that I've experienced what it's like. My overall rate of experience : 7/10
