We had called and spoke to the owner to see if we could check in a bit early and be was completely ok with it. When we got there the camp host was extremely rude saying we were there too early being that no one was in our spot and there were so many other empty spots available. we then had our campfire on and eight at 10 she came and advised it was quiet time and the fire needed to be turned off due to "county law" which is complete BS mind you we were not even loud we were just hanging out and there are zero rules staring that fires need to be out at 10. The next night she again came rudely 3 minutes past 10 when we were already putting our fire out stating "REALLY 2 NIGHTS IN A ROW!!" we said we are putting our fire out and she said "well get your clocks fixed to be on time". we pay a lot of money to enjoy our time there. I feel the owner needs to look into this because the campground was not as full as it usually is and they may be running people out with that unnecessary attitude and rudeness.

We decided to do a full hook up and everything worked perfectly. This included a clean out. This spot was also outside of the areas affected by the wildfires and flooding.

The bathrooms are super clean, something I always check out right away since I'm not a fan of bathing in the super tiny shower in the RV. The kids enjoyed seeing wild horses and deer on the property. We were told that elk and turkeys visit the property, too, but we slept in most days and missed their early morning visits. There is a creek that travels along the back of the park that pools into a pond where visitors can go fishing (catch and release). There is plenty of space to walk around or for the kids to ride their bikes. We can't wait to go back!

The spaces weren't super far apart, but we had plenty of room to sit out in our camp chairs and be socially distanced from any other campers without having to wear masks. We had full hookups. The only downside is the highway noise, but all the RV parks in Ruidoso that we saw (and there are A LOT of them) are just off the highway. The fishing lake on site is super cute and if you don't catch anything, you don't pay anything. We caught trout both times we fished. You also don't need any equipment or bait because it's provided. Just show up as you are! There are even apple trees on the property, so we are planning to come back in September or October to taste the apples. Will definitely stay here again. Campsites vary in size for large rigs and small. Apparently tent camping without an RV was being permitted in what we thought were RV spots. Not a problem for us, but usually tent camping areas are separate from RV camping areas. There really isn't a place for kids to play except in the main rv parking area, so sometimes toys (balls, etc) get thrown and roll under the RV's and sometimes hit the units. Sort of bothersome when balls hit the RV. But the kids have no other place to play in the small park.

After a 6 day stay dry camping in the Argentina Canyon near Bonito Lake, we needed a full service…read moreRV Park for some luxury camping (a shower, electricity, etc). We stayed here on 10/16/2014, originally for 2 nights but had to extend it as we were having too much fun. The RV Park's owners are both friendly and helpful. There are NO permanent RV residence which always make me think I'm in a trailer park rather than a RV Park! Just RV visitors like us. The first night going dry camping, we rented one of their pull-thru areas that was nice so we could just bed down, not unhook and pull out the next morning. On the return trip, we got a space at the back, across the bridge near the river. The RV areas were full hook-up and had an indestructible picnic table. About 50 ft behind us was the river and a wooden swing seat for 3 where we sat and listened to the river. There were deer in our spot that we had to run off to back the RV into! Very nice. One of the owner's, Barry, will help you find your site and even make sure the RV is level. Then they leave you alone and let you do your thing. It was quiet at the park...no loud obnoxious music! Wifi back where we were was sketchy. 1-2 bars and with 14 people online at once, slow. We had 1 bar on Verizon Mifi but only about .2 mb download...so slow as well. AT&T phones... worthless. No bars at all. I am assuming Verizon phones will work since the MiFi worked. We were in a 35 ft RV with an Excursion, plenty of room and there were Class A's there too. The park is about 15 miles from town on the Hwy 37 that goes Bonita lake area. Far enough from Ruidoso to enjoy the country but only a short drive back into Ruidoso to enjoy the city.

Would not recommend. even with us being unhappy with the circumstances they charged us for one night. We left after 30 minutes.

Slow Play RV park in Ruidoso was well maintained and quiet. The restroom and showers were clean…read more The staff were helpful and the owner sent the maintenance guy with a wrench when we needed to disconnect our battery. When I asked where to dump my gray water, the owner came to my site to show me where it was. We would return here if we go back to Ruidoso. I would have liked to have more trees and little more shade, that is why I did not give them 5 stars.

Normally, when we are first time in an area and RV park, at some point we cruise through the other RV parks to see if we might find one we like for our next time in the area. Not here. We like this park and the owners so much, we have not driven through any of the MANY campgrounds in Ruidoso. We will definitely return for at least a month (escaping the Texas heat). To keep it simple, I will ditto all the positive comments about Slow Play. The few negative comments occurred during the previous owner. This young couple have owned Slow Play for a couple of years (?) and actually run the place and are present "all the time". We are on a two month moho trip and selected Ruidoso as our last stop before heading home to central Texas. We had never been to Ruidoso, so we decided to stay two weeks and get to know the area, plus not traveling over the Labor Day weekend. I'm glad we did. I could actually stay longer, but time to get home. Other reviews mention that some campsites have permanent rigs/residents. This is a separate area and well maintained. The occupants are actually friendly; they wave and speak as we walk our dog. During our stay, the owners threw a get together for all the campers. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend. I have nothing negative to say. I really don't have any recommendations for improvement. The only better campground I have stayed in was the resorts that charge 100 plus a day; we were full-timers for 10 years and have stayed in a LOT of campgrounds and resorts (be careful of the term "resort").
