I've been to this auction more than once and I had a horse I had to sell due to an unfortunate situation at home. he was a very nice gelding that would pull a buggy and you could ride anywhere. The sale barn ended up with him for $900. What they said was the highest bid was online and that was it, which was untrue. They just stopped the bidding there because they wanted to flip him. The next day, Sunday, they sold him for $1800, they knew they took advantage of me and my husband, but don't care. They use God and their "Christian" beliefs to hide behind the fact they take advantage of people like us. A lot of the horses that go through that ring are theirs and they are doped up for one reason or another. The good ones that are their friends are po'ed when they don't bring a goo price. They are in the "racket" with a kill pen in Kemp Texas. i really haven't figured out how they operate together, but they are in cahoots with each other. Bought a pony . Checking out was a nightmare, rude , slow, gal at desk when I went to pay for my purchase. Very disorganized. Received wrong cogins on my paperwork, they refused to acknowledge it and make it right...... If they hide behind the Christian scripture shame on them, because they truly are not good business people nor Christian folk. It's all about the money and the lies. read more

HORRIBLE Strangles! We purchased 2 horses only to find out they had strangles!!! They are horse traders. They force bids, ignore bids, and call horses with a hard copy or AQHA papers grade to keep the price low enough they can flip the horse next week. A horse broke a man's legs in the back and they sold that horse calling it gentle 30 mins later!!!! They are crap. read more

I was watching their Sunday Facebook sale which is first come first serve and already lost out on 3 horses. I saw what they were calling a riding horse and their video froze. I called and paid for the horse. When the video came back up you could see they should not be riding the horse because the back fetlocks were too the ground. I called and tried to reverse the buy but they refused. They are supposed to be a Christian company . I would have traded my buy for another but they refused. I understand they were not asking that much and I am okay with a project but not a horse that is crippled. read more

We had never been to this type of auction before. It was very well run from check in to pick up of items. They Had a wide variety of useful equestrian items which went for very reasonable prices. There were a wide range of horses from beginner to experienced barrel racers so there was something for everyone. The personnel were very friendly and the clients were well behaved. Overall an excellent experience. We even had dinner of the chicken fried steak and fries which was very good, and don't miss the gravy with that. read more

I agree! Super shady! Sells to kill pens! Not reasonable or accommodating! BEWARE - CAUTION! I'd like to start this off by saying I bought a halter from them through the auction and had a great experience! The live horse auction is a whole different story: Elkhart Horse Auction threw two yearling horses in the arena together. A filly and a stud. These two horse were running around the arena together and they did not remove either until the auction for both was completely over. My husband and I were watching via internet. (FYI: Everyone was complaining the internet was lagging) We bid thinking we were bidding on the filly. I immediately called to pay for my horse and arrange transportation and find out I won the stud. I told them that was incorrect and that I was unable to have a stud horse due to our current situation, and that the internet lagged. Elkhart Horse Auction tells me to call back! I call back in 20 mins, they again tell me to call back and again I do so. After the 3rd phone call to them the girl says she will call us back in 20 mins after she figures out the problem.... no phone call. By now it's 145 am in the morning and I made my bid around 1130pm. So this went on for another hour and they finally tell me that I have to buy the horse and if I don't theyre taking away my buyers number. Elkhart horse auction told me if I wanted to buy the stud I could resale him on the next auction. I asked them when that was going to be and no response. Next day I get another threat of taking away my buyers number, I again ask them same questions and explain what happened, and again nothing no resolution ...... here we are 3 days later and they threaten me again! I asked when the next sale was, told them the situation and they banned me. I was simply trying to rectify a confusing situation that happened via internet. If it had been a one horse auction with only one horse in the arena I would have undoubtedly paid for the horse, mistake or not but this was not the case! This is the most unreasonable, unprofessional, unethical, and inhuman bunch of people I've ever come across. As a business owner you need to understand situations occur and it wasn't very smart to try and auction two horses off via internet in the same arena when they knew the internet had been lagging! Their customer service is awful! I really wish they would focus more on the actual auction of these innocent, magnificent creatures, rather then arguing amongst each other! I bought a horse there last weekend. paid 3600 for her only to find out she was drugged. I now have 3600 plus $669 vet bill for a beautiful lame horse. Be ware they are in business with a horse trader there and they are selling horses advertised as great and kid ready off a dude ranch but the next day the horse can't walk. no response from sale barn all week. what a shame as we had a fun time and planned on returning until we found out we had been scammed. read more

Do not sell your tack items here unless you wish to be ripped off ! They use a tag system for tracking sales, so when you check out, you have to know what you sold to verify your transactions. This system means they will not furnish you with a sales summary, the day of the auction, and only mail it to you with their check. We kept track on a piece of paper of our items as they sold and estimated a check coming for $ 900 (after commissions.) When we received their sales summary and check, it was for half that amount. Contacted them immediately and repeatedly by email, text and phone, asked us to be "patient"and 3 weeks later have not received a detailed response, corrected sales summary or check for the other half of our items. They have a video of the sale, which clearly shows our claim is valid, however have refused to review it (even though we have) to admit an error was made. Have contacted the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations and reported them for auctioneer malfeasance, attempting to recover our remaining settlement from Auctioneers Escrow Fund. Why they wish to jeopardize their auctioneers license for $ 500 is beyond me. I'm sure I am not the first seller to be ripped off by these people. read more

Let me start this by saying they are actually horse flippers and not much else. They themselves bid on horses during their online auction mostly to drive up the bid, but also if they do end up buying a horse (they call them "barn catches") they turn around and sell them during their Sunday sale after they jack up the price $600+. I saw this myself -- they had a "barn catch" they paid $650 for on the Saturday online auction, and the very next day they want $1300. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with this, but something about it feels like an absolutely shady business practice to me. They also take advantage of people who feel sorry for horses by telling the online watchers "KB IN" which means the kill buyer is bidding. This also drives up the bids on the horses, and ultimately their commission on the sale. Is there actually a KB or is it perhaps Savannah or another family member actually bidding? I don't know and everyone outside of their family also doesn't know exactly who is bidding. The horses in the ring are in there MUCH longer if it is owned by family or friends (maybe the KB? I don't know) than anyone else again driving up their profits from the sale. I get it that they are a business, but they try to tell the public they are giving horses an opportunity to get a good home when in reality they are just trying to make money off of unsuspecting people. read more
