Their cuts are amazing and they aren't scissor happy like most Dominican salons. Since going natural, I've only been here once to straighten my hair. Needless to say everyone thought I had a perm! It was bone straight and looked healthy and bouncy. It was so wonderful. I'm laying off the heat so I won't be going too often but my wash and straighten with a deep condition and a cut was very reasonably priced. They offer different deep conditions, steam, hot oil treatments! A whole bunch of stuff. They speak their spanish all in the spot of course but that's expected. They always greet me "HIIII Briana!" lol I don't know why they won't learn my name but it's all good. They're friendly and always ask how my mom and sister are doing. They know how to make their customers feel right at home. My fave salon and I've been to a bunch of them. Def the best in the area.

A wash and blow is $25, wash and set $20, and a deep conditioner depending on which one you choose can run you $5-$10. The milk shake deep conditioner is $10 and worth every penny. Although, I didn't get the same results this trip as I did the first time I had it. You may experience language barriers at most Dominican salons out there , but that's not the case here, that's never been a problem. They do like ALL Dominican salons and speak in their language back and forth between stylists, having you believe that you're the topic of conversation, but even that wouldn't stop me from coming here. They know how to do hair well and that's what I'm paying for!

Note: as other reviewers mentioned there are at least 3 other braiding salons in this building/hallway, it is not uncommon for the competition to lie about their name in order to pilfer customers which is why Matou had me call her so she could personally escort her to the shop. Just make sure the shop says UNITY and you'll be good. Wanted long cornrows with extensions on my thick mixed race natural hair... came in with my hair washed and detangled and she began her magic. 1.5 hours later she left me with NEAT, PRECISE, DETAILED cornrows that weren't too thick or loose. She works quickly but not sloppily nor does she rush you out of the chair. She's also quite friendly. Admittedly this place is not glam or ritzy, but it is large, well ventilated, they have a TV and there were no bugs! It was my natural hair only . no extensions, no added hair,braided neatly to wear under a wig. I asked for the price, and the owner quoted me $40.To avoid any confusion, I asked TWICE , and she confirmed $40 both times.I even have the text messages to prove it. I made the appointment for 1:00 p.m. and traveled over an hour by bus based on the price the owner gave me. The moment I sat down with the braider and mentioned the $40 quote, she immediately looked confused and said there was no way that style should cost $40. I showed her my text messages with the owner. The braider wasn't the issue at all she was mostly professional and was simply trying to understand why the owner had quoted a price that didn't make sense. When the owner finally got on the phone, instead of apologizing for her mistake, she immediately became rude, argumentative, and accusatory. She actually asked me why I thought the style would only cost $40 and said, "You knew what you were doing." **Excuse me?** **I DIDN'T make up the price.
