Hey! We really enjoyed this intimate but satisfying river side restaurant. Drive out of your way to spend some relaxing time dining and seeing the sights on the st Lawrence from their spacious airy deck. The broiled haddock was perfectly prepared and plated with their delicious hand cut fries. The onion soup was full bodied and nicely balanced. Our server was prompt, pleasant and a pleasure to talk with. Highly recommend! read more

The view is great! The food is great! But the service was the best! I seriously ordered a beer with our server and 2 seconds later the bartender came out with it. She said she had good ears. And I agree. We had the Prime Rib, burgers and the chicken. All were extremely tasty. read more

I have to agree with everyone else that posted a review. We were a table of 4 and to get two buffalo chicken wraps and a turkey club sandwich, it took 2 hours from start to finish. Food was good, but nothing amazing and the only thing that MAY have had to be cooked would have been the chicken in the wrap. View is beautiful, but not worth the wait read more

The owner walks through on a regular basis on nights we have dined there; once when he asked how our appetizer was, we honestly said it was a bit salty--poof! He hand-delivered the same redone (marked "no salt" in a take home container) with a wink and smile. We go often to Ella's! read more

We went there for a birthday dinner and could not have been more disappointed. It took us over 1-1/2 hours to get our food. The burger and steak were overcooked and service was slow. We are supporters of local businesses and want them to succeed. However, we will not be back here. read more

Service was very slow, took an hour for food, had to return lobster tail because it was dry, then it took a half hour to get new one, which it was at the end of my meal, meat had no taste, had to ask hostess twice for our server to come back, all food was bland, needs new chef. I was there last evening 8/5/21 with a party of 9 with reservations for 5:30 pm. The restaurant was chosen after visiting their website and seeing their online menu. When we arrived the establishment was fairly empty and we were seated on the outside deck. The waitress handed each of us a limited menus printed on 2 pieces of paper. Unlike their online menu which offered Ribeye Steak, Alfredo, Scampi, Scallops, Salmon and more ........ all that was available was overpriced truck stop fare. The most difficult part was deciding what you were going to settle with. I went from thinking that I was going to have Shrimp Alfredo to ordering a plain hamburger with fries! The rest of the party ordered chicken strips, Phillies and burgers. We ordered onion rings, a pretzel, fried cheese curd for fillers and drinks to ease the disappointment. At 7:35pm (after waiting over 2 hours, our food started to come out) one plate at a time! Half of the party was done eating before the rest of us even had our plate. Having ordered the most basic of everyone on the available menu, my burger not only arrived last, but I had ordered it medium and when cut I cut it, it was rare and I had a blood soaked bun. Needless to say it wasn't touched. In the end it was a $300 bill for diner food. Don't get me wrong, when I'm out for lunch I prefer diner food, but this was a family get together out for what we thought was a nice meal and this didn't come anywhere close! read more

We were a party of 16 and the wait staff and kitchen kept a nice pace with our meals. The cook came out after our meals were delivered to ensure we were satisfied. We keep going back to Ella's hoping it will be a better experience, but last night it was not. We had guests for the weekend, the other restaurant in Morristown was closed, so there we were. I think it was the bartender who came out and took our order after a young lady who seemed quite harried seated us. It was not terribly busy, so we can't understand the hour and a half wait to get our food. When it finally arrived, the food was okay, but not for $26 a plate. On the positive side, the former $7.00 a glass house wine was now "on sale" according to the card on the table so it was only $5! Sadly we will not be going back again this summer. Such a great spot, but so poorly run. A really good restaurant in Morristown with that location could be such a benefit to the community. read more

This was a wonderful experience. The Chef, Roy, has excellent unique and handmade dishes. The Loaded Fries with his barbecue sauce was the best loaded fries I have had. His Ravioli was also uniquely prepared and was fantastic. He has a nice wine list and great selection of beers. The atmosphere was fresh and inviting. The restaurant is perched on an overlook so you can dine while you view the beauty of the St. Lawrence. I live in central PA and return to the area frequently. Ella's is in a beautiful location with amazing views over the St Lawrence. The staff are usually friendly but seem disorganized. The food varies between OK and awful - and the squad of tame flies in the dining room are off-putting. Last visit, food was served cold after a very long wait. Pointed this out to waitress whose response was "Oh". She departed - we assumed to fix things, but apparently not, as we didn't see her again till she came back at the end of the meal. We've kept coming back in the hope that things will improve. Probably a long time before we come back again. Such a disappointment, if they could only get themselves together - and round up the flies! read more

My wife and I have went for Lunch and Diner, and have found the meals to be of GREAT QUALITY and portion size. I'm a big eater and I went out very satisfied. I would realistically give it a 2 star but the service was horrible and the servers were unpleasant. They have a new chef and the food was cold and flavorless! We ended up near Morristown on a Saturday for dinner. Decided we'd try Ella's (no other options) and was pleasantly surprised. Not much to look at outside, we were wondering what it would be like inside. It was full up at 7 on Saturday but we were promptly seated. Very nicely done inside with beautiful view of the river with late evening sun streaming in. We opted to have sandwiches that were all very tastee including a club sandwich and a philly cheese steak. All came with good french fries. Water glasses were refilled often. Lots of options on the menu including much higher priced full meals. I would def go back. I was very happy with my first dinner at Ella's. The million dollar view on the back deck is spectacular. Service was attentive and prompt. Waited 25 minutes just to put in bar order. When the waitress finally came she said it would be an hour and a half before we could get anything to eat. We just left and will not return. Last night was my 5th and final visit. Stubbornly optimistic I hoped each time it would get better, but it hasn't. We were greeted by a hostess with a stained t-shirt on, carrying a filthy wet rag. By the way, she had it in her hand all evening as she poured diners half glasses of water. It was "Pasta Night" which I declined on as I had tried it before. I think the Board of Health might be interested in that fiasco. My grilled chicken salad was missing sun dried tomatoes...the plate wobbled for goodness sake!... the cruets of balsamic vinegar and oil were disgustingly dirty...cold bread served with vegetable oil instead of EVOO. A conglomerate of fixable errors that added up to an unsatisfactory experience. Such a beautiful place. It just needs a good manager to whip it into shape. read more

Recently my family and I visited the St. Lawrece River regin. We had dinner at Ella' s On The Bay. The river view is worth a million bucks. Our food was cooked to perfection, deserts were great. After dinner we sat at the bar and enjoyed conversations some of the locales over well mixed drinks. I have given this restaurant several chances. But this is definitely my last time giving them a shot. First off sitting inside we were covered with flies the server apologized but come on. Took my son and his family for his birthday dinner. Long wait for all aspects of service. Owner present and looked frazzled. Waitress not very attentive didn't check if food was good after serving. Prime rib sent back as undercooked. Slow to clear plates while a member of the wait staff was sitting prepping silverware and napkins. Food was okay. Thursday nite is pasta nite. Each plate is made for you at a pasta bar. Food is delicious. Service is horrendous. The chef who cooks your pasta also delivers to table then runs back and cooks the next dish. One station for the entire restaurant. Completely inefficient the way it is run. We returned to Ella's on a Tuesday night after over a year since our first not so great visit. Business was steady but the restaurant was not full. We ordered calamari and drinks to start. The calamari was a steak- sliced thin and it was delicious with a sweet chili dipping sauce. Very generous portion that served 4 of us as an appetizer! I ordered scallops with risotto, we also had chicken Parmesan, fish and chips and a chicken and portobello mushroom dish. We had salads and bread. The food was very good. Service was improved since our last visit but still has issues. Our appetizer arrived and our waitress forgot small plates. She said she would bring them. We waited while she seated another table and brought drinks to another table. Calamari is not good cold. My husband got up to get them. We had empty plates after appetizer and salads that were not cleared when our entrees arrived. We had to ask for them to be cleared. My husband asked for water at least 3 times. There were flies over our table the entire meal- yuck! For the price, we expected better. Improved for sure! Food is good. Some of the best we have had in the north country!
