Lisa and James photographed our engagement session and wedding day, and I cannot express how completely overjoyed I am with the entire experience. The engagement shot they took of us made it into the NY Times wedding section! First off, they are awesome, warm people who are talented, professional and flexible. The have pitch perfect energy - on a day with so many details and emotions - they had a calming presence on all of us. I've been to weddings where some photographers act like "paparazzi," and didn't want this experience for my own. Lisa and James hung back but got amazing shots all throughout the day. Not only did they take lovely photos of us, the couple, they got such amazing individual shots of friends and family. James and Lisa were wonderful to work with. Totally stress free. They are extremely professional, easy to get in touch with, easy to get along with, and very talented! The photos are gorgeous; I couldn't be happier that we were able to hire Elle Jae for an engagement shoot and for the wedding. The photos tell a story, and capture the incredible, happy, magical mood of the entire night. We didn't have the budget to hire a videographer, but thanks to James and Lisa, we'll never forget what it felt like to be surrounded by all of our favorite people for such a special moment in our lives. Also, James and Lisa are kick-ass cat-wranglers. Not only both of them are so talented and are amazing photographers, they are so nice, personable and the perfect photographers you would need at your wedding day. Our engagement photos were taken by James and these photos were outstanding. He made us feel so relaxed and we had a great time spending the day with him. At the wedding day, I was so stressed and Lisa was the best, she comforted me - exactly what I needed. The wedding pictures both Lisa and James took got SO many compliments from our guests, I mean people still make comments about our album, and it's been almost a year!!! Another point that is really important for me to mention is that on our wedding day it was very busy and we didn't have enough time to take shots at all locations we wanted. I don't even know where to begin with my review of Lisa and James. They were possibly the best vendors I could have picked for my wedding and made the entire experience so much better. James had the patience to meet with me before we signed him officially as our photographer to show me some of his sample work and help answer any questions I had. I was very particular about having a photographer who understood the intricacies of an Indian wedding and he was good to put me at ease. He started off doing an engagement shoot with my fiancee and me at our favorite locations in San Francisco. His turnaround time for the photos was great and he was able to make specific edits for the photo we planned to frame or include on our wedding website. He and Lisa were absolute gems to work with during our wedding weekend. They were always on time and stayed as long as needed to capture every key event. I could go on and on but to sum up - their work shows the level of care, devotion, and pride they take in their work and I would whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a great experience and great photos. I just got my pictures back from Lisa and James and the pictures are amazing! We had our wedding on July 2nd at BR Cohn in Sonoma, CA. They captured so many wonderful moments and used some interesting angles and views. I could not be happier with how they all turned out. They were also great to work with. James & Lisa of Elle Jae Weddings are EXCEPTIONAL. Both as a wedding vendor (soo communicative, thorough and easy to work with) and most importantly as photographers. Even as humans! They are lovely people and their work is truly extraordinary. I must have scoured 100+ wedding photography blogs before finding them. I knew I wanted crisp and richly colored photographs and not the blurry, weathered, instagram-ish looking ones that are so en vogue right now. To be honest I actually found this very hard to find! To be able to take stunningly beautiful photographs with little to no post-processing of the colors or filters is true talent. My only other qualification was that I wanted our photos to tend more towards the natural/candid as opposed to being ultra-posey. I wanted the photographer to document the feel of the day and not be making their way through a cheesy list of shots. As soon as I first spoke to James I knew that Elle Jae was the right fit for us and I booked them immediately. I actually never should have even bothered with the other photographers I interviewed (which ranged anywhere from pretentious and snobby to overpriced and acting as if they were doing me a favor by charging me $$$$). James and Lisa are none of these things and their photography far exceeds their price range. Truly. James did our engagement photos in NYC. This was mine and my fiance's first time doing a photo shoot with a photographer. My fiance was dreading the entire experience and I figured it would be written all over his face in the photos. When we got our engagement photos back from James I knew instantly that I had made the right decision. They were incredible! Crisp and candid and completely natural looking. I received so many compliments and everyone that knows us says that our personalities and feelings for each other totally shined through in the photos. The ones where were are just laughing and doing our own thing instead of posing are some of my absolute favorites. How James was able to capture that when he only just met us that day is beyond me. He was a total trooper that day schlepping around the entire city to all our favorite spots! A year later, our September 2014 wedding photos are absolutely SPECTACULAR. The compliments have not stopped since we received them. Looking through them is truly like reliving the day all over again and for that I will be eternally grateful to James and Lisa. All the reasons I booked them for shine through it the photographs. They have an uncanny ability to make people look their best in candid shots. I mean seriously who ever thinks they look good in a candid photo?! Guests have commented to me that James and Lisa were EVERYWHERE that day. And in looking at the photos myself I believe it. They documented everything and in a way that captured the feel of the day rather than just running through a checklist. My aunt and uncle, who are sports photographers, said to me "Wow you must have paid a lot for those photographers because they are getting every shot and yet they aren't in the way at all." I just smiled knowing that I had made the absolute right choice. I would recommend James and Lisa 1000 times over and I will never use another photographer for any future life-events or occasions. This review is long overdue and specific to James as my husband and I had a very small wedding and only wanted one photographer. James was not only very professional, timely, and easy to work with, but his work is amazing. We had an engagement session with him in San Francisco to get comfortable in front of the camera. He then photographed our wedding seven weeks later in Muir Beach. He was there not only as our photographer, but he helped ensure the ceremony flow was as we wanted and also helped pin the boutonniere on the groom. He was such a calm presence in our nervous/excited environment. He got our proofs to us very quickly (while we were still on our honeymoon!) and they were stunning! James photographed our City Hall ceremony last month, and we can't say enough good things about working with him. My husband and I both live in Chicago and stumbled upon Elle Jae after a google search for "San Francisco city hall weddings". We met with James once on a pre-wedding trip in March and then spent the afternoon with him on the day of our wedding. James knew all of the good spots within City Hall to take photos and after our ceremony he quickly whisked us through various levels of the building, taking gorgeous pictures at each stop. Afterwards we took photos on Telegraph Hill and Baker Beach. Our pictures are amazing! He did a fantastic job of capturing our joy and the beautiful scenery behind us. Lisa and James did a beautiful job on our wedding photography! They captured all the intimate special moments, helped make us look natural and feel comfortable, as well as captured all the details of the wedding. They were incredibly organized and had the group photos done in less than 15-20 minutes, and they do a great job of setting up special shoots while not taking too much time away from the festivities. My husband is not a huge fan of being in front of the camera and they did an amazing job of making him comfortable and look natural. They were so calm and amazing to work with and had a great eye for good shots. We took sunset shot in a vineyard, under a willow tree and James found a lavender tree as a background. James and Lisa are the best of the best. Elle Jae did the photography for our engagement and our wedding day. I cannot say enough great things about the both of them. Our engagement session was absolutely seamless, we were able to do three different locations (with outfit changes) in 3-4 hours or so. James was great at making us feel comfortable in front of the camera resulting in many beautiful photos. James was always in contact with me leading up to our wedding day, ready to jump on a call whenever I had questions or wanted to confirm details. On our actual big day, Lisa and James as a duo were incredible. They were extremely organized with a prepared timeline and shot list, and we were able to get all the photography done before our ceremony (we did a first look) with time to spare for some glasses of champagne with the entire bridal party :) Once the photos were ready (in only a month - so fast!), they sent us links to a viewing gallery and to a Dropbox folder so we could download the high resolution files immediately. Shortly after, our proof book and a thumb drive were shipped to our home with all the high resolution photo files. They truly made the entire process so easy and fun! We are absolutely in awe of all the photography. They captured the day in its natural, effortless beauty.
