Unfortunately I've had a horrible rough experience here. I had been going here from end of 2022 to the end of 2023 and built a great relationship with the company but they were not getting my hair to where I wanted after getting over 9 full foils done to my hair spread out throughout the year. (Which shouldn't have taken that long as I talked with another stylist at a different salon) I ended up with bad streak lines and went in to get that fixed and I did, and then a week later my hair by my roots turned pink. I'm assuming it was a bad toner batch or something. I don't know as they wouldn't even help me. They would not fix it and told me it was best to pursue another salon and gave me a refund from that last appointment. They also blamed that it was from when I got my hair tinseled and it dyed some of my hair pink but that is not true as I did not have tinsel all the way up my root line and we already got the pink tinsel out months before. This happened at the Snohomish location with Alyssa C. who gave me the bad streak lines, Malia who turned my hair pink on top, and Michaela the manager who wouldn't help resolve anything. I still have pink in my hair, low self esteem, and breakage from this. I don't recommend going here and would put your business elsewhere. read more

Definitely poorly managed. It's a no win situation for the customers. Your fee is constantly increasing as your stylist gets new skills. If you try and change stylists because your current one has become too expensive, you have to start all over again to find someone that you like. Unfortunately, I got a new stylist just as I was about to attend an important event. In spite of me telling her what I wanted, she was too interested in being chatting and completely screwed up my hair. It's 5 weeks later, and I'm still trying to get my hair to grow back. My girlfriend came out of the store crying she was so upset with the service. She requested online for a toner and ---. The total online being $138. There is almost no visual difference whatsoever and after tax and the lowest possible tip being 18% she ended up paying over $200. She was so excited to get her hair done today for her birthday and shes now absolutely devastated. If there was some change to her hair then 200 would be somewhat reasonable. But the only thing that actually changed is her hair is slightly softer than before. read more

Edited 12/10/23: The salon emailed me back a couple days after I asked for a refund and asked me to come to see a master stylist for a correction- I declined and asked for a refund. They replied to offer me a credit at the salon instead, and i declined and asked for a refund again. They finally obliged and processed my refund, so I edited my review and added a star and this information, because they did refund my money and acknowledged their mistake, which I appreciated. TLDR: If you want a simple partial foil, you're actually getting beige hair. I thought it was strange that this Salon had such lengthy policies about cancellations and color patch testing, it seemed a bit over the top but I booked a $220 service anyway, I didn't figure I needed to worry as it was a fairly routine and easy one: I wanted a partial foil with a smudge root. I have a grown out pixie cut, my hair is very short. The problem: It took 2 hours to get my foils in, and when they came out, my hair was gray. I mean: gray. Like. I looked like Gary Oldman. I've had a lot of foils and I know that this was the wrong toner and on too long. I was told the reason it was gray was that I had asked for an ash tone. Ash blonde doesn't mean gray, so I asked the stylist to correct it. She stripped out the toner and as she did this, recommended I use Nioxin shampoo to fade the bad toner she put on my head. I said I didn't have that and I wouldn't be getting any. She left me with the stripper on my head in the bowl and passed me off to someone else and didn't say goodbye or apologize but she did look up and answer the receptionist when it was time to confirm my pricing. The woman I was handed off to was kind, but honest. She asked what color I was going for, and I said blonde, and she said "it's beige." I paid a total of $240 to have my hair colored beige in a double process that damaged my hair more than necessary and resulted in a huge waste of time and my hair looks really pretty terrible. I shouldn't have paid for the service, I regret doing so, but I thought I could talk to the salon and they would refund me today after receiving my feedback, but I have received no form of response. I wanted to share my experience, because it was a lot of money and 4 hours wasted to get An "ash blonde partial foil" that somehow is: beige and has no shadow root and looks and nothing like what I wanted. For reference- my first Yelp review shows my own work when I used to bleach and tone my own hair ash blonde and you can see I could do it- not sure why this was a problem and why I look like this. read more

First timer - Found this location online and liked that you could connect with a stylist online prior to arrival. My stylist was nice and helpful. Prices may vary depending on the experience of the stylist you have and what you have done. There was leftover hair in my seat from other people and would suggest a better cleaning, but this could have been a one off. read more

Nadine is absolutely brilliant with color. If you have a challenging blonde situation or just need a quick bleach and tone, Nadine is your person. Everyone at the salon from booking, management and my stylist, Nadine, were incredibly warm and kind while helping me with a really challenging blonde issue that had turned into a color correction. This is my first time trying a Elle Marie salon and I was very impressed with how knowledgeable and confident Nadine is. She brought my hair back to its happy place, the color turned out a perfect rose gold we were going for, which we didn't know if my hair would hold the color as we wanted. Happy to report that not only did she correct a splotchy blonde situation, the final rose gold turned out absolutely perfect. I really appreciate that they carry my two of my favorite hair care and color lines, Pulp Riot and Redken. Since the color I wanted was from the Pulp Riot color line, and with Nadine's color correction skills, my hair came in a dingy mess and I left with gorgeous color, exactly as expected/wanted. I was so happy, that I decided to work with Nadine to start having my tape-in extensions put in regularly by Nadine. They also carry a very respected brand of hair extensions with multiple types of bonds. I'm excited for next weeks extension appointment! read more

I got my hair cut by Katie Grace recently, and it's my favorite haircut I've gotten in a long time. I went from very long hair to a long bob, and she did exactly what I asked for. After the initial appt I got home and realized I was not happy with how thick and chopped it looked at the ends, despite it being what I asked for. I called the salon and they were able to book me back in with Katie within 2 days, and she did an amazing job adding layers and definition to thin out the ends. I will definitely be back to see her! I received the best haircut and partial foil and I loved my stylist Margabelle but the price agreed upon was not what I payed. The cut was $68 and the partial turned out to be $180. I was shocked. I did give an additional $20 for a tip because I loved what she did for my hair. There was also a toner added on that cost $30. Needless to say the whole cost was too much. I didn't complain at the time but for anyone that can afford it this elle marie shop is great. The staff is caring! It's a small shop and the parking is terrible. Not much space and everything was full so come early to wait and find someone leaving. I traveled from Mukilteo but if it wasn't for the prices it was worth it. I do hope the price for partial was a mistake but I'm not well and didn't want to haggle over it. My foil and cut are beautiful! Please be more reasonable in your prices Elle Marie! read more

Perms were very pricey for short hair. I paid $127 for hair above the shoulder. And I don't get the consultation meeting B.S. requirement before getting hair done. Like you have to schedule appointment to talk about what you want and then schedule another appointment to get it done. That took all of 3 minutes and another hour of waiting. And I wouldn't have even got that if the stylist hadn't had an opening to begin with or squeezed me in...A complete waste of time and frankly a little pretentious. With that being said the stylist was super friendly and did a fantastic job giving me curls for such short hair. She was the only reason this place got a 3 star. And I didn't even get a haircut but to my knowledge that price could have included cut...maybe...prepare to jump through hoops to get a cut and style at this salon in Snohomish The manager reached out to me to explain the reasons for a consultation. It didn't change my opinion but I appreciate how responsive she was to the review...she too was very professional and friendly. read more

Sadly i am writing a bad review as a former hairstylist who knows very well about customer service this was unacceptable is best described. I had made an appointment with a stylist I really liked she had done my hair twice and I rescheduled with her unfortunately I missed the appointment got the days mixed up although I did not get a reminder call but a txt in which my mom brain went Thursday when my appointment was Wednesday. I missed it, I had no problem paying the no show fee it was ultimately my fault however when I rescheduled the stylist I really wanted was booked out but they offered to reschedule me with a stylist with the same level experience but when I called to pay for the missed appointment and I asked to confirm they had booked me with a different hairstylist that was a couple levels lower experience that is the unacceptable part. What a shame I really liked it there but this is how you loose a client, I don't normally write bad reviews but being that I have worked at a high end salon I knew this is absolutely not okay. read more

Been going to this salon regularly (every couple months) for the past couple of years, but sadly I'm not going back anymore due to poor customer service. My schedule can be a bit unpredictable due to caring for a disabled child. There have been a few times where I've had to reschedule appointments due to him being ill or our carers calling out, which is incredibly challenging. I try to give as much notice as possible to the salon when that happens. I've never canceled the day of my appt, always the day before. Normally, they've been wonderful and accommodating, which was why I kept going back. If I needed to reschedule due to challenging circumstances, I always tried to call at least a day in advance. I recently tried to reschedule my appt the day before, but it was only 23 hours in advance, not 24. I called right after my carer called out. The receptionist was a bit rude and insisted she couldn't accommodate the reschedule without charging me 50% as a no show due to their 24 hour cancellation policy. I get it, they have a policy and that seems to be the only thing that matters above all else. When I asked why I had to be charged even though I was so close to the 24 hour period, the receptionist informed me that it said in my "file" not to accommodate me anymore without charging me, if it's not exactly within 24 hrs. I was just 30 mins under the 24 hr period though. They couldn't be flexible knowing my challenges? I guess not, I'm not special or anything. I'm not really sure why that was a big deal. I didn't want to get charged as a no show, so I scrambled to make arrangements for my son and go in for the appointment. Although I told the receptionist it was going to be my last appt, I was still considering going back to the salon since I really liked the stylist and her work. I thought I had built up a good relationship with the her over the years, since I've been going there regularly and we always have a good time chatting during the appt. This last appt she didn't really talk to me at all, as if I wasn't worth the effort anymore or something. It was kind of awkward and uncomfortable. Definitely not a welcoming or positive vibe. Then, she didn't bother asking me if I wanted to book another appt. Didn't really care about me anymore as a client, I guess. I'm not really regretting my decision to not go back. The salon doesn't seem to care anyways. Apparently, they don't need or want my business. I don't recommend this place, especially for parents and caregivers who might need more flexibility in rescheduling. Plus, it's not a great feeling giving your business to a place that couldn't care less if you're a client or not. There are a lot of great salons around. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, where they actually pretend to care about you as a client and a person, especially if you're spending 100s on each appt. read more

Had to sign service agreement that stated less than 24 hr cancellation could result with me paying the full service fee or pay 50% deposit for a next hair appointment. I came into see Bonnie 2 days ago. I had recently visited a different salon to have a good 10 inches or so taken from my hair. As many hair salon stories go esp with big changes it was a disaster. I left looking like a jacked up Dora the explorer. I called hoping to find a more experienced stylist that could fix me. Bonnie was phenomenal. I sat in her chair, she asked me what I was looking for and I regaled her with my hair woes of the previous 48 hours. She was completely in sync with my wants and seemed to effortlessly bring in texture and layers to my helmet look - that is no longer, helmet-y. Highly recommend. My hair has some curl to it as well and she didn't skip a beat. I know sometimes that throws people off, but again she did great. The photo is post shower - I wanted to see how it would dry, so it is missing that just styled, salon, chic look to it, but I wanted a get up & go look and Bonnie delivered! Time to find a new hair place. I was thrilled with my first hair cut from Bonnie, a bit less happy with my second cut (also Bonnie) and very disappointed with my third cut from Summer. After washing my hair today (my cut was yesterday) I'm noticing that it's a good half inch longer on one side. I also had a 7:00 appointment but got a call at 6pm that Summer was running late and I was told to come in at 7:15. I showed up at the designated time and still had to wait another 20 minutes. I also noted that Bonnie's customer showed up the same time as me and had still not been called back to the chair after my haircut was cut and styled and I had paid - maybe she just showed up extremely early but I suspect time management is not Elle Marie's forte. I'm annoyed and will not be back. read more

Personally I had a very bad experience here. I picked this salon on a referral from a friend. My appointment was for a haircut with Tawny. After waiting 20 mins, Tawny invited me over to a chair and we went over the consultation. After the consultation, Tawny said I had lice and that she wouldn't cut my hair. I explained to her that I have psoriasis on my scalp and most likely what she saw was my psoriasis. She refused to give me a haircut and asked me to leave. In somewhat shock, I went to the doctor that afternoon to insure it wasn't lice. The doc confirmed what she saw was my psoriasis and not lice. If this salon doesnt want to treat people with medical scalp conditions, that's totally fine, just put it on your website so that those of us who do have medical issues, are not humiliated and turned away for having such conditions. I have never had a salon experience like this, horrible and humiliating. Taking my business somewhere more considerate and professional. read more

The staff at this location are accommodating and so friendly! I've been seeing Susie for almost a year and she is great. I previously had blonde hair and Susie really took the time of transitioning me from my blonde to a rich brunette. (All in one visit!) She explained the importance of great haircare and recommended products to me that I now use religiously. I always look forward to getting my hair done! Every appointment that I have with Susie always feels like I'm catching up with a friend. She is the easiest person to talk to and I love that about her! I can be kinda awkward from time to time but she really knows how to make my appointments run smoothly and we can talk forever because of it. Susie is a hair goddess and I'm glad she's my stylist! Decent for a hair salon. If you can keep your appointment. You get in, wait 15-45 min past your appointment time, and get a good enough hair cut, color, style, for normal WA high prices. I decided to leave before my third appointment after 45 min. past my appt time. Definitely going to explore other salons. There's no incentive to come back. Even after 45 min, I was told, "well it's up to you what you want to do. She shouldn't be too much longer". I've always had salons have some one start my color processing or color mixture if my scheduled stylist is running late, this salon clearly doesn't treat their stylist like co-workers and partners. I guess my gray hair will live on this month....so done trying to fight upstream to find a decent and fair salon. read more

First time visiting a new salon, after having the same lady for years and years. The business was clean and seemed to follow their covid protocol. The stylist had clearly read my notes from when I scheduled the appt. She was professional, very receptive to my requests, and skilled. I received the exact cut that I wanted and a nice update on my color. Received lots of compliments. Honestly, I had a little sticker shock at my bill, but I checked around and that had more to do with my transitioning to current rates and not going to a friend's house to have my hair done for 15 years! So, I blame my lack of awareness of the going rate than anything against the salon. Will go again when the grays start appearing again. read more

She never lets me do something that's going to trash or ruin my hair. She's always looking out for what is going to look best on me. I absolutely love her! I was really skeptical about trying a new salon. Hair is such an important part of how you feel about yourself, and when you're trusting someone to take care of your coloring you really need to trust them. Jazmyn did a foil on my hair. I've been having my hair foiled for over 30 years. This is by far was the most beautiful my hair has ever ended up. She did such a beautiful job! When I posted the picture on Facebook I had people comment they thought it was actually an advertisement for the salon and not my hair.
