We are a new patient family, expecting top-notch treatment from this 5-star clinic. However, everything has been an utter disappointment. First, after the initial call, filling out forms, and making an appointment, I requested verification of our insurance coverage. The front desk promised to call me back by the end of the next day. I called back on the second day to check if anyone had reviewed it. They said no but promised again to call me back before the end of the day. Unsurprisingly, I did not get a call back from them. So, I called again this morning, and they finally confirmed our coverage and scheduled an appointment for this afternoon. I canceled our existing dentist appointment at 4:00 PM and made an appointment at 4:30 PM with Dr. Ellen. Up to this point, I thought it was not a big deal. However, when we arrived at the clinic and checked in at 4:30 PM, we waited for 15 minutes. I asked how much longer we would have to wait since the clinic would close soon. Suddenly, the front desk informed us that Dr. Ellen was not available and that another doctor would see my son. What?! No one told me this until I asked! Even if it was a last-minute change, we should have been notified instead of waiting and having to ask what was going on. I am extremely disappointed with our three-day experience. We will be traveling next week, which is why we need to be seen this week. Now our current dentist appointment has been canceled and we have yet to get the chance to be seen by Dr. Ellen as well. Everyone is struggling with time. We spent an hour and a half for nothing. We have never been treated this way, which is completely unacceptable! read more

Sometimes reviews can be too good to be true. I got my 5 year old mouth guard and paid $166. It barely lasted for 3 months. When i reached out for a free replacement they said prices have gone up and you will have to pay another $80. No empathy, no apology just looking for unfair means to make money. We bring our 3 kids ages 1, 3, and 5 to Dr. Im and she is fantastic! At first I had to get used to their method of bringing in multiple patients at the same time, having the dental assistants do the initial x-rays and cleaning, and then waiting for Dr. Im to come round on each patient to do further cleaning or intervention then discharging us home. However, everyone is friendly, professional, and their method is very efficient! With small kids, it's hard to keep them patient in one place and Dr. Im's team can get things done quickly without making you feel rushed. Dr. Im knows how to meet your child at their level while giving you the time to teach and explain things that needs to be done so that everyone is comfortable all around. My toddlers love the choice to watch their favorite shows and wearing cool little sunglasses while the bright overhead lights are on. Wow, wow, wow. Where do I begin? We have been bringing our kids here for several years and make the drive from El Cajon area. This establishment is one of the most amazing places! The staff are always knowledgeable, transparent, and not pushy. Dr. Ellen is one of the most compassionate Dentists I have ever seen! My youngest daughter Trinity, used to be extremely fearful of the dentist and over time, has learned to trust Dr. Ellen because she has patience. We really do love it here and will continue to be patients of Dr. Ellen's business. I also want to acknowledge Dr. Chenard for his incredible Ortho abilities! He really is skilled and very kind. Terrible service providers. I bring my kids in for routine cleanings every 4 months (always done by dental techs, the dentist doesn't seem interested in maintaining routine care), and the last one they both were told no cavities or any concerns. Fast forward two weeks later, and I take one back for a sealant where I'm told by the Dr Im that there's a "large cavity needing a filling". What really struck me was that this dentist did not seem concerned about the fact that it was missed just two weeks prior or the exam before that when it should've been evident and it's beginning stages as well. Just told me to make an appointment to get it filled. There were no apologies offered, and no acknowledgment of the egregious error. One job: to check the teeth when they come in specifically for that, and you can't be bothered to do it? Please do your children and your families a favor, and do not come here. There is no interest in actually taking care of your child's health. read more

Went here today for the first time & Dr Im and her team are THEEE best....from the receptionists to the back-office team! They are super friendly, knowledgeable and will not push things on you as other dental practices would. I asked Dr Im about flouride use & she let me know that her own kids use flouride. Dr. Ellen and her staff are wonderful! We took our 2 year old daughter there for a first visit. I called on Monday morning to get an appointment and we were able to be seen the next day. When we walked in there was a cute sign welcoming new patients and had her name written on it :-) The new patient paperwork was easy to fill out on my phone. I loved going to the dentist as a child, and I know that is the opposite for so many adults today. The big difference was finding that perfect pediatric dental office. This is it. Candy took care of my littlest at her visit. She was playful, encouraging, and took extra care to introduce each tool and their sensations before doing each part of the cleaning.  It made her feel safe and kept her engaged in the process. Let me start by saying that we have been happy with Dr. Im. She's really nice and energetic considering how physically demanding a dentists job is. From what I observe, she is very busy with so many patients and it's just herself. They have an orthodontist on the other side of the floor. I have never met him and parents are not allowed in the patient rooms (from what I gather). My child had 4 brackets come off in less than 2 months. And one even came off while they were reattaching the others! I've addressed these concerns in an email and they don't address if I'm paying for these ($50 after 3 attachments) and passively blame my child. I find their front office to be passive aggressive (different from the other dentist front desk) and get the feeling they are being performatively helpful, if that makes any sense. TL;DR - I think they are understaffed with too many patients or highly incompetent which brings down the level of attention and quality of care. I recommend Dr. Im but for orthodontia, you're better off finding an office solely dedicated to orthodontics! read more

It's been over 3yrs now with this dentist and I love it. Dr. Ellen is the best dentist I've ever seen for kids, she's patient and her staff also is patient with the kids especially with my 2yr old. She so good that I try to keep the insurance that she accepts because I try some other dentist nearby and it was nothing compare to dr. Ellen. So I rather drive 30min to see her than go with another. The only thing that sucks is that she don't see adults, that would be great for my whole family to have the same dentist. Also her orthopedic is great too my oldest son just got braces and it's been great and the orthopedic talks to you and gives you all the info you ask for. I did A LOT of research for my son and I could not be more pleased and beyond happy to have gone through with Dr. Ellen Im pediatric dentistry. This was my sons first time ever going to the dentist and I was soooo anxious and nervous. Before we even visited the office I had the pleasure of talking to Sam over the phone. He was polite, upbeat, thorough, and really put a worried mom at ease-- and that was just over the phone. The day of the visit came, we arrived early and followed COVID precautions. (Consent form, temp check, and filled out paperwork) The office was clean and super cute (decorated for Valentines Day) the front desk staff was friendly, helpful, and polite. When it was our time to be seen. Sam approached us and was very upbeat in greeting us. Throughout the entire process Sam went above and beyond. He was patient, explained everything he was doing. Let my son touch the different equipment and gave him different options making sure he was comfortable. I always feared my son would cry and scream but we were far from that and I strongly believe it was partially because of how well Sam did. Thank you to the staff and HUGE shout out to Sam for being amazing. You made our day and best of all gave us the absolute best experience for a first timer. We are so happy to have found this dentist and I don't want to go anywhere else. I am so glad I did my homework and I hope my review can put other parents at ease. Dr. Im and the staff are great. They take care of my 4 year old and 1.5 yr old. Last time I went for my 1.5 yr old, and he was crying as soon as they brought him back. Candy and Dr. Im were singing to him to try and calm him down, and were trying to do everything to get us out quickly since he wouldn't stop crying, while still giving him a good checkup. Meanwhile my 4 year old was running around and touching everything while I was holding the other one for the checkup and they were very understanding, trying to wrangle him in too. Any billing issues I've had they take care of right away. They stopped taking my insurance in network but said cleanings would still be covered with no copay, and still true to their word with that. I have been going to Dr Ellen Im for about two years now. She was a referral from a family member. The reviews were accurate. The team of staff are welcoming, kind and friendly. They have the best movies either in the front office or during the kids cleaning. They move through your appointment efficiently and effectively. I have three small kids and they are all being worked on. The office is clean and organized. I have had trauma about the dentist since I was a kid. I never went in unless I was in pain. They make the visit to the dentist not scary (especially for kids) and use positive reinforcement to keep kids engaged. My kids all made sure to floss after our visit to make sure they can tell the staff. I can't say enough great things. I don't feel pressure into any marketing or upsell. The recommendations appear to be preventative care which I can appreciate knowing gum disease at my age. Extra bonus, I see her name in a lot of our community support (pq soccer, elementary schools). My daughter has always had a tough time going to the dentist but she had a fantastic visit recently thanks to Shanee and Dr. Im! Shanee did such a great job putting my daughter at ease, offering to use a normal toothbrush instead of the typical electric brush to build up her comfort level with the dentist visits. Kids are kids and mine can be difficult at times when they get cavities or sugar boogers BUT Dr. Im explains the procedure, wants them to be comfortable and grown up without any childhood dental trauma (like ‍). My teeth are made of sponges and I spent a whole lot of time in the dental chair as a child and endured not being numb enough for my fillings and I DID NOT WANT THAT FOR MY KIDS.
