I came here to get my pant suit hemmed. The lady working was very helpful as I told her what I was thinking to alter and she told me that this type of pant suit needs to be work a couple times first as it stretches out and if she alters it now it won't fit properly next time. The hemming was $18 for the pant suit and I paid with interact. I asked if I could pick it up after the long weekend as it was canada day long weekend and I was leaving for Chicago on the Tuesday after. She got it done for me and was very nice about it. They have dressing rooms to change in and don't forget to bring your shoes that you'll be wearing the clothes with! I forgot mine but it was fine. They're super knowledgeable and can sew some complex things. Highly recommend!! read more

I took in 4 Ikea curtain panels. Asked the seamstress to hem them 1 inch because they were already a good length. Of the four panels... 3 panels she cut 3 inches off, then left the fourth panel long...they were not even cut straight. I will try to post pictures. The bottom line of the hem is so wavy on all panels. My husband took the panels back for her to fix, and she said she didn't do that work. She said he went to the wrong place, and that she would never do a job like that. Thanks for technology, I asked hubby to video chat with me and show me her face. Yup, it was her and he was at the right place. Suddenly she remembered me and the curtains. So she didn't fix the 3 curtains she screwed up but at least we have 4 that are the same length. I will try and post a photo on here. I just about peed my pants, it's so funny that she couldn't get a straight line, but the curtains are ruined.​ read more

This is my local tailor and I appreciate the reasonable prices, great service, fairly quick turn-around and late hours (Open until 7:00). Lynn speaks English as a second language, but has been sewing since she was in High School (over thirty years ago) - and she does a fantastic job! On more than one occasion, she's recommended a better way to "fix" my odd fitting clothes, and I've grown to fully trust her opinion. Lynn has also helped out in a pinch - when buttons fell off my husband's wool coat in the middle of winter, she sewed them back on while I waited. I've come here in the past for minor alterations (hemming, zippers replaced etc) and always been happy with their work. So when I was getting quotes from a wedding shop/tailor of $350+ to get my wedding dress altered I decided to try out Ellerslie Tailors. I bought my dress off the rack "as is" so there was a bit of extra work to be done. From the beginning and throughout the process she communicated what work needed to be done and gave me a breakdown of prices which was 1/2-1/3 cheaper then the other place (i.e $60 to hem 4 layers versus $150 at the other shop). The alterations happened in two parts. The first was to alter the top half (remove zipper and replace with corset back along with taking in the sides) and then the 2nd appointment was to hem the bottom and to add gems on the dress that had fallen off. All this happened within 2.5 weeks. In the end she did an amazing job and I'm so happy with the work she did and the money I saved. All that work costed less then $200 where I would have definitely paid double at the other place I went to. I would recommend any bride to consider coming here to get their dresses altered. read more

Extremely skeptical of trying them again. I took a pair of distressed jeans for a small repair last winter. The seamstress completely destroyed the jeans. She patched every spot that was distressed after explicit directions to only fix one spot. For this type of application NEVER agains. On top of the 400$ jeans she ruined she also charged me 20$ to wreck them. I think beyond the adjustment of length in pants I'll pass. read more

This place is pretty decent and for basic alterations I would come back. But I honestly feel that Capital Tailor is the best place in town, by far. Check them out, they are incredible. This place is quick and the prices are competitive. The only thing is, it's a bit too quick and I felt that some of the articles of clothing I had her work on were a bit rushed, resulting in poor quality work. For example, she cut corners around fixing up my sleeves and cuff. I had to take it to Capital Tailor to get fixed. The guy at Capital laughed and said that she was being lazy. And I agree. But, for easy alterations, this place is decent. read more

After checking out some of the reviews, I thought this was a good place to take my jacket to get repaired at. I called several times to get a price estimate, no one answered the phone. The irony is, the message they have playing on their voicemail tells customers their store hours. "Monday-Friday open until 7pm." So why is it closed at 5pm on a Monday? I understand needing extra time off and shutting down for the day but at LEAST let your customers know so that they do not waste time and gas driving to your location. Now I'm home, jacket still needs to be fixed but I'm not sure if I will be driving back to this location to have it fixed. read more

Great workmanship amazing customer service, fast turn-around time, and reasonable pricing. Who else packs all these and also do your dry cleaning? They customized almost all of my suite coats and few of the pants, shortened the coats length and sleeves. I brought a dress here to be taken in and shortened. The work itself was decent, although there were still blue marks on the dress from the use of a pen to mark the changes. The thing that bothered me the most was that the whole store smelled of smoke and therefore when I picked up my dress it also smelled of smoke. read more
