Passing by and saw this new coffee spot! It is in a good location that is easy to get in and out. I like that they have a window w/menu on each side for orders/pick up. There is only drive thru and no indoor seating. Menu consists of breakfast food items served all day and any combination of coffee that you request. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I chose an iced Tuscany toffee that has caramel and toffee flavoring. This was a very sweet and delicious choice! I purchased a medium and it cost $5.55. I would recommend you try them out!

    Ham and cheese croissant

We went for the first time. Ordered a hot ham and cheese. The sandwich was melted to the box and put on the top of the croissant, rather than right side up. Will not be back.

Great coffee establishment. Staff were friendly and fun. Coffee was delicious. We had latte and frozen coffee. Highly recommend! 5 stars.

Easy in and out. Great menu and happy servers! I like that they cover the hole of the lid to keep from spilling in your car.

She ordered the smoked salmon and bagel, and I had the fiesta rancheros. Both dishes were out of this world delicious. The home fries deserve a special shout-out: hands down the best I've ever had. Our waitress, Jessica, was phenomenal--super attentive, friendly, and efficient. She was wonderful with us and I noticed her engaging warmly with the other tables too. The whole atmosphere felt friendly and genuinely jovial. We finished with the peach cobbler served warm in a skillet with vanilla ice cream, and it was exceptional. Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and more of a crumbled consistency rather than a traditional crust--which made it even better. Absolutely perfect brunch experience. We'll definitely be back!

They have all the breakfast items you can imagine and a whole bunch of lunch and dinner options as well. Their menu continues to expand. We, of course, went for breakfast and had our choice of eggs and bacon and grits and pancakes ... but what stood out for me was the biscuits and gravy and the SOS. If you don't know what SOS stands for, look it up... it's a great breakfast item. The SOS is not the same as the biscuits and sausage gravy because that is sausage gravy, the SOS has chipped beef in gravy and usually will come on toast, but I prefer it with the biscuits. I asked for my eggs over easy and they were just right. The side of grits comes in a small bowl which is a good portion for one person and the pancakes were humongous - a very good size for two pancakes and golden brown... I ended up sharing with my wife. We were very happy with the service that they gave us and one of the managers came around to see if everything was good or if we needed anything and we really appreciated that. This is a very down to earth place where it feels like home. It's a great place to bring the family, and we did see a lot of people with their kids, but, we also saw couples like myself and my wife sharing some good coffee or sweet tea and loving life. We are definitely coming back because I wanna try the teriyaki chicken plates and I'm very interested in the shrimp and scallops.

Like I said...perspective. Those in the know in Mt. Dora have been to Dora Cafe, a charming old-school cafe serving as much friendly service as yummy good. Mad respect for the sweet staff onsite, quick to smile and welcome you in while you wait just a few minutes to be served tasty food. Simple, good food - that's what's up here. Also, a very interesting variety of plates - simple breakfast combos, teriyaki, Cuban sandwiches, Shepard's Pie, gyros, and chicken livers! What?! Swear to God! Open from 6a-2p every day. Definitely get in on the breakfast combo - yummy hash browns and they even have sausage links AND patties! C'mon...now you're just showing off. I will absolutely be back...and I'm genuinely looking forward to it.

It quickly became my mom's favorite restaurant after she moved to the area, and whenever I came to visit, she couldn't wait to bring me here. I still remember how good the fried chicken was back then. My mom passed away 8 years ago, and I hadn't been back since... until today. Friends of ours moved from Ohio to Florida and live not too far from The Mason Jar. They kept talking about this amazing comfort-food spot they couldn't wait to take us to. As you've probably guessed by now -- it was The Mason Jar. The moment it clicked, I had a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. Everything felt just like I remembered: great food, friendly staff, and that warm, welcoming atmosphere. The only thing missing was my mom. In her honor, I ordered the fried chicken again. It came with three sides, and I chose coleslaw, fried okra, and mashed potatoes. It was absolutely delicious -- comforting, flavorful, and exactly how I remembered it. If you're looking for a place that's more than just a meal, somewhere that helps create memories, this is that kind of place. Thank you, Mason Jar, for the memory. It meant more than you know.

Nothing hugely remarkable, the same decor I'm assuming they've had forever, but the roast beef was very good. The sides were gigantic. No complaints and well worth the stop if you're in the area.

Generous seating and calm, peaceful music make for a very intimate setting to enjoy with dinning companions. We started off with the Charcuterie platter. Beautifully prepared and served/explained by Chef John. This included an oven fresh baguette, served in its own delightful paper bag. For entrées we shared the Beef Bourguigon, and Ratatouille. Both were delicious. I have so much respect for Chef John. Operating a small high end restaurant in 2026, must be the toughest job around. From the competition around him, the high cost of quality specialty foods, rent, staff and providing experiences. You can feel the love in every bite. Go treat yourself to a wonderful dinning experience. A Votre Sante' Chef John.

That level of care is increasingly rare, and it deserves real credit. Where the experience faltered, unfortunately, was the food. The prefix menu included many dishes, but most missed the mark. They felt lackluster, missing the depth, seasoning, or execution that would match the charm of the service. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing stood out either. It's the kind of meal that leaves you wishing the kitchen's ambition matched the front‑of‑house enthusiasm. It may have been an off night, but there was only one other couple in the place on a Friday dinner service, so that may have been a sign up front.

The Southern burger was great, but I tossed off the raw onions as I absolutely hate them, and added the lovely pickled onions from my wife's salad, which gave the perfect amount of flavor and color. Don't you agree? Give me a LIKE if you do !!! The crepe was next level. Delicate crepe, very soft ripe bananas, sauce was not disgustingly sugary, and the vanilla ice cream was smooth and soft, not icy and sweet. Dunno what brand they use, or if they churn the cream fresh in-house, but it made my day.

There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.
