This was a true treasure of a find in the quaint downtown Ellijay. My friends and I wanted to stop for a coffee and the trip completely changed when we stopped here, in such a good way. This used to be called the Ellijay CoffeeHouse House, but is now Mountain Town Coffee at Hemlock Bazaar (hopefully Yelp will accept my edits), and it has a great vibe. There's a back entrance and courtyard which we came through. The decoration is wacky- I don't know how else to describe it. It's old school and nostalgic but strange. On the other side of the wall there's an entire book store that is part of the business. It had one of the most impressive collections I've seen in a bookstore in awhile. It wasn't huge but it had a great variety of genres, and a lot of intriguing titles I hadn't heard of but sought to remember for later. The man working the register was a charm- he told us how Ellijay has their own tv production (which they were playing on an old school tv), a special Bigfoot podcast and more. Lastly, the coffee was, of course, delightful. I had a latte with a little bit of spice in it that was perfect to warm a person up in the cool early spring air when we were there. Had we known this would be such a cool stop I think we would have bargained even more time to just hang and enjoy the atmosphere. Been coming back every chance I get over the years and while the paint may change, I love their consistent really good coffee and fun vibe! I'm all about the flat white especially in a real size and the 8oz option is brilliant! Toss in the Bigfoot snazzy flavor and I'm in love. We were in town visiting friends and needed a cup of coffee for the road. It's somewhat of a smaller town in a rural area so the pickings were a bit slim but I found my way with the help of Yelp app. We were cheerily greeted when we walked in and were informed about their food availability via the display cases to the left. All I wanted was coffee for the drive to Atlanta so I just ordered that. My partner ordered an oat milk latte and they made it well. The store itself is part of a bookstore and there's a room with a place to chill out (and read perhaps). It was very quaint and I'd recommend this local spot over any national chain coffee store (there was one in the grocery store down the road). read more

We needed an afternoon pick-me-up and this coffee shop is around the corner from the stretch of downtown shops. Great location and surprisingly never-ending space. There is the main space where you order food/drinks and shop local goods. However, if you go to the back, you will see there are other rooms to relax and sip in. One is bright, cheery, and would be good for hunkering down to work. The other had a kid toy area and some cozy seating as well as some books to pick up and peruse. The woman at the counter was lovely. She was welcoming, funny, and super helpful with the expansive menu. SO many flavor options for coffees and the menu was highly affordable as well. There are a lot of tea options, too. We ended up ordering: -Two cold brews (one with oat milk and one with sugar-free white mocha flavoring). Some notes of chocolate in it. The mocha flavoring in the second drink heightened it and wasn't too glaringly sweet. -One large, 20 oz. smoothie (they have several flavors but you can mix-and-match for no upcharge). Our kids were splitting this and decided on strawberry, mango, and pineapple. It was a tad runnier than they were used to, but the kids guzzled it down....so it must have been good! We stopped by Ellijay Coffeehouse at the end of our vacation, as we left town. We all wished that we had visited earlier in our trip! I had an iced pumpkin latte with almond milk, which was so good! I was so excited to find a pumpkin latte during summer. My husband had a ginger peach tea, which was just sweet enough, but not too sweet. We all had a croissant and I enjoyed an incredible warmed pumpkin-cream cheese muffin (must-have if you like pumpkin). Not only were the food and drinks amazing, so was the service. The barista at the counter was so friendly and humorous. He was also super helpful and was the one who recommended the muffin. I wish I would've gotten his name, as he provided awesome service with a great attitude. This coffee shop is a gem. We can't wait to return on our next trip to Ellijay! read more

Hello to the most delightful coffee shop experience I've had in a very long time. We went here twice in the same day it was such a treat. The staff make this place. Welcoming, diverse, kind and charismatic. They greet you and engage in a friendly and authentic way. Love them. The space is certainly a bit run down (pretty sure some of the chairs are from a wedding banquet that happened in 1980) but in a home away from home way. Plenty of places (and rooms even) to get social or quiet and cozy. Chairs, couches and stools. Games in multiple books. Gender neutral bathrooms. The pastries looked so good and were even inclusive- from gluten free to vegan, they had it all. Lots of other snacks and some fun Knick knacks for kids and adults alike (ex- toys and soaps). So good, I came here twice. If you're looking for fresh and healthy lunch or dinner choices, this is the spot. On the first day we popped in and enjoyed our generous poke bowls post-hike on the outdoor patio with the pups. The very next day I was craving more! We ordered our bowls to go and scooped them up on our way back home. Every one was so kind and helpful both times. The build your own bowl allowed me to choose my favorites, and the selection of fruity bubble waters really paired nicely and hit the spot. This place is a gem. Literally one of the best finds I've encountered in a long time. So my family and I were on our way home this morning from a long weekend in Blue Ridge. We'd planned to go to a coffee shop close to our cabin but it wasn't open when we arrived, even though the schedule online showed that it should've opened almost 20 minutes earlier. So with caffeine ever-present in our groggy thoughts, AT and I hit the road, fully expecting to just stop at a Starbucks to satisfy our coffee fix. But admittedly, I'm always more interested in trying local places so my fingers started typing like crazy on my half-dead Pixel 2, in hopes of finding something on the way home. I landed on Ellijay Coffeehouse and we stayed for over an hour, when we'd just planned to pick up and go. This eclectic place is just the right amount of kitsch and IDGAF cool. This is close to paradise. AT just wanted a house brew with a couple pumps of praline syrup (so random, especially if you know him) and I decided to give the matcha latte with oat milk a whirl (such a damn Millennial kinda beverage). The lovely young woman at the register assured me that the matcha was in fact unadulterated sans sugar, which meant full steam ahead. As we waited for our drinks, we strolled about to see the space. Much bigger than we expected and we found shit that basically blew out minds. Such as little Super Mario figurines. Eight of which we purchased. You just have to see some of my photos. This place is awesome. Anyway, we got our drinks and I'll say this was one of the best matcha lattes I've had out. In Ellijay!!! Some of the best coffee shops in Atlanta can't even hold a damn candle to Ellijay Coffeehouse. And dude, spare me the lecture about how matcha isn't coffee. Anyway, another pleasant surprise turned out to be the cherry almond scone. Later that became two scones. Because it was so damn good, my kiddo ate the hell out of mine and we had to get another. If you're in town, passing by, or you live two hours and want to go here because of reviews you've read, go! You can come in from the storefront facing Main Street or from the parking lot. Clean with so much space to distance or better yet, go outside to enjoy your coffee (or tea, or rice krispie treat, or scone, or whatever else) on the patio in the back. You'll find fun robot toys, stickers, and tons of other things to keep you entertained. Just make sure you don't touch the old-school TV with knobs. Service was great and they had a good amount of options including vegan ones for my husband. Lots of cool things for sale in there as well but by far my favorite were their handcrafted soaps. The vibes of this coffee shop can be described as a sleepy queer version of Central Perk. We were on the way home from a weekend trip to Blue Ridge and for the life of us couldn't find a sit down breakfast place. But now I am so glad we couldn't, Ellijay Coffeehouse is one of those shops you're always hoping to stumble upon and incorporate into your daily life, unfortunately we live three hours away. The staff was incredibly friendly and you could tell they felt as if they were a family due to their constant quoting of Shrek to one another. We got their paninis and Fruit parfait and we were very surprised at how delicious it was, because it is so rare to find a place with good vibes AND good food. I'll spend the rest of my days upset that this jazzy, diverse, and nerdy coffeehouse isn't in my own hometown. read more

Ellijay coffeehouse: a special place. A small, touristy, quaint little mountain town, with a bustling little coffee shop, thats even open on Sundays (rare in small towns). It is a unique place, with excellent customer service that has much enthusiasm and quirkiness! The guy at the front was super helpful, patient, and upbeat! Really good coffee, great Panini's for a foodies like myself-- breakfast sandwich, and colhutta wilderness sandwich were both great, as well as my excellent oatmilk latte. They had three different rooms to choose from with tables, couches, stools, and enough seating for many. They have a tall shelf of books for all ages, and many boardgames to choose from. We hung around and played battleship for a while, which was great! This coffee shop doubles as a Nostalgic store for us 80s and 90s kids: comic books, records, 45s, Nintendo, super Nintendo, action figures, old and weird toys and gadgets. A really cool store to go check out! They also had great great 90s music playing, which made my day! We love Ellijay and will be back soon! read more

I had stopped in here before my hike and was greeted with the yummy aroma of coffee. I ordered the pumpkin spice latte, big foot latte and a mocha cookie which was great by the way. I wasn't to sure about the cookie but when I tried it I feel in love I went back for another that day and one more the next day! I'm a big sweets person.
