Had a very nice visit here for an event. The vineyard and event space is beautiful. The place overlooks the vineyard and the mountains. It's a gorgeous view and well worth the visit! The owner took us on a tour, explaining how they process the wine and what barrels they use which made it a very fun and intimidate experience. The wine themselves are good. We will definitely be coming back here. It is very kid and dog friendly, with a bowl of water and container of dog treats on the screened porch. There are kids books near the fireplace as well, in the indoor seating area, full of windows and ample seating overlooking the gorgeous views. We sat on the elevated screened porch (which has a beautiful view of the vineyards) with a few wine flights and our pup. We played Uno with our kids for a bit and then they tossed a baseball down in the grass below. It was a relaxing, tech free day with no complaints for anyone. Loved it. It is clearly a go-to spot for locals, as there were many people conducting remote work from the space as well. I think it's telling that people feel "at home" here. Regarding the wine, we had great recommendations from the owner and liked all that we sampled. My husband's favorite was the Chardonnay and mine the house Riesling, which we purchased a bottle of to bring home. read more

Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon while visiting Ellijay for the weekend. The winery is an easy drive from town and situated in the Georgia hills. We went into the tasting area that was full when we got there. They have both indoor and outdoor screened in porch seating. There was live music on Sunday. My wife and our friend ordered a bottle of their champagne, Betty's Bubbles. I ordered a glass of their Cabernet Franc. My wine was very good. Everyone loved the champagne. We ordered a meat and cheese plate to share. Our server did a nice job and was very friendly. read more

Beautiful vineyard with a Mountain View and really laid back vibe with live music. The ambiance and customer service was wonderful! The cheese and meat trays are American style. The wines are for REAL wine drinkers lol. I'm a light weight so I prefer sweet and 7% alcohol or less. I recommend the Sunrise and the midnight. The midnight was my absolute favorite even at 11% alcohol. They even have kid items. You'll love it here, give it a try. read more

My friend and I popped in on Wednesday for a tasting and sat on the patio overlooking the vineyard. It was a warm day, but not unbearable. There was an ax unit in the corner hooked up and easily available to access if needed, but we didn't need it. After enjoying snacks (that we brought) and our wines we were given a tour of the wine making facilities and event center. The center was beautiful with floor to ceiling windows that looked out on the vineyard. It's a very beautiful place to have a wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, or any even really!!! The barrel room is awesome also and I enjoyed seeing how the wine is stored and bottled. I can't wait to return! Could not say enough good things about this place! Jason and Katie were the kindest people and made us feel at home. When our Uber cancelled on us and we couldn't find a ride back to our cabin, Jason went out of his way to find us a shuttle driver. The food and wine were also great, and we loved the live music. Loved visiting this winery! Wine was delicious, scenery was amazing and the child friendly environment was great! Coloring books, books and a child's tasting "flight" with little treats was a huge hit with my little ones. Engelheim Vineyards is a gorgeous vineyard in Ellijay, GA. It is close to downtown Ellijay and a true gem in the area. The ladies helped me decide between the wines and the pricing is very reasonable at $7-8 a glass, $20 a bottle, and $14 for a tasting of 4 flights at 1 oz. each. I decided to go with my favorite--a glass of rose. It was both sweet and savory. There was ample indoor seating, screened patio seating, and outdoor vineyard seating. I really enjoyed the peaceful ambiance and stunning vineyard and mountain views. Beautiful grounds and delicious wines. Highly recommend! read more

With a cross section of people who take the time to Yelp, it says something that the general consensus for Engelheim is five stars. Here's why: ^^^ The wine is quite good, better than I've had in a number of North Georgia vineyards. There's something for everyone, ranging from dry to sweet. They also offer wine slushies, which from experience taste better than they sound. ^^^ The price of tastings has gone up but it's still reasonable: four generous pours -- patron's choice of white, red or a combo -- for $12. I like the way it's presented, making it easy to carry your tasting outside. ^^^ It doesn't break the bank to purchase bottles of wine. Engel Weiss, which we enjoyed at lunch, is $28. ^^^ Unlike other wineries that prohibit outside food, Engelheim is fine with it, provided you eat outdoors. They also have items for sale. We traditionally bring a picnic to enjoy with a bottle chosen from one of our tastes. On Saturday we were entertained with live music -- not so loud to be intrusive. ^^^ Do you have a well-mannered dog? Bring him! ^^^ There are tables outside -- more umbrellas are on order -- and there's a covered area attached to the building. (Don't look up! Barn swallows swoop in and out -- but they don't bother you.) One doesn't even have to go upstairs to use the restroom. There's a neat and clean lavatory right here. ^^^ Like all vineyards, the scenery is bucolic, relaxing and a great get-away from the city. A hall for weddings and other celebrations is near completion -- and it looks lovely! read more

Engelheim Vineyards is without a doubt one of our favorite spots to visit in north Georgia! The staff is so helpful, the setting is serenely beautiful, and the wine is impeccable. Located 10 miles southwest of Ellijay, the vineyard is placed on rolling hills overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains. The winery is built in German style and is quite stunning both inside and out. On our most recent visit we dropped in with another family who was traveling with us. Between both families we had 6 small children, but instead of making us feel unwelcome, Emily grabbed popsicles for our kids and allowed us to set them up on the back veranda. While our kids enjoyed the popsicles and iPads we had brought (definitely don't bring your kids and just let them run around the winery!), the four adults sampled various wines. Legitimately every wine is different and delightful. I am typically a huge fan of red wine, and Engelheim Trillium, Doxology, and Cab are all incredible. However, on this hot day we were refreshed by whites, the ladies taking down Sweet Molly while I enjoyed the delicious Engel Weiss. Enough good things can't be said about this place. If you are in the north Georgia mountains you should definitely stop by for a visit! read more

This winery is simply not as good as it used to be. We have been coming here about once a year. The wines now are just okay, but not great, and certainly not worth the $4.16 per stingy pour. (6 tastings for $25 not including tax.) We had two 6-taste groupings, one very boring cheese plate ($22) and one glass of Cabernet. So with a tip we spent $100 for two people - just for tastings. Most of the wines were just okay, only a couple were very good. If you know wine, you will probably be disappointed. If you do not, you will be fine with mediocre wines and less than friendly and knowledgeable tasting servers. On top of that, they charged 3% for using a credit card, which I think at that price point is tacky and greedy, and leaves customers feeling gouged. On top of all that, I had to return four of the tastes because they were "corked" and on their way to being cooking sherry. I was told those bottles must have been outside too long yesterday from a wedding they had hosted. Oh, so you sold wines to a wedding party and then put the leftover opened bottles in the tasting room to sell again. Sorry, but this is going to be the last time I visit this winery. It has become very clear that making money has become much more important to them than making good wine. There are many other wineries in the area that try harder to win your business. read more

The vineyard views are beautiful and service was friendly. It's hard to wear your mask while tasting wine, but it's possible to distance yourself from others. Today was our last day of our 8 day vacation. We kept seeing this vineyard but it was in the opposite direction of everything we wanted to do. We decided on our last morning that we would start the day off here. Man, if we had missed this simply because of location it would have been a sad affair. We went in as soon as they opened and Jeni was there to greet us. We went in for the tasting , there was 3 of us and I am the only non-wine drinker. After telling her this she suggested several of the wines she felt would be best to try and with every description she gave she was spot on. She truly made this experience by far the best. Nestled in the hills just outside Ellijay is this jewel of a winery that is off the main path-...you will not accidently happen upon it. They grow most of the grapes used for their excellent wines..which span the full range of dry and spicy to the mandatory Georgian saccharine. My favorite was the dry blend of three reds. Prices are higher than typical local wineries, but so too is the quality. The premises are beautiful and pastoral, and are immaculately clean and inviting. The food selection is limited to cheese plates or pretzels, which is fine. The only negative is the festoon of political signs along the entrance, which may not resonate with your own political affililiations, but is fully representative of the local demographic. But remember over 50% of people statistically would disagree with them. read more

The property is beautiful, wine was excellent and unique (and living near the Napa and Alexander valleys I know a few things about good wine). FABULOUS!! We arrived late for an RV overnight stay. Winery was closed so we called ahead and the staff said they were still there so we could purchase some wine. We arrived and met two very friendly staff who recommended the perfect wine for us. They showed us vats of wine being made and explained the process to us. We purchased a bottle of Hummingbird wine per their suggestion, which was a red wine that was sweet enough for me but not too sweet for my husband. It was amazing! Best red wine we have ever had! After we set up and were appreciating the stunning views of this beautiful property, the owner, Gary, came by on his golf cart to welcome us. He welcomed us to his property and offered us the use of his bathrooms. They were super clean! He also invited us to come watch the grape picking process in the morning. He was the nicest man! Felt like we knew him our whole life. It was a beautiful and quiet at night. We slept like babies. When we woke up and started getting ready to leave Gary came back to let us know they were about to start picking grapes. As much as we wanted to join him, there was a strong wind advisory and we had to head home. We ate planning to return for a wine tasting next time we are in town. Of the 25 wineries we've visited in Georgia so far, Engleheim is our favorite. The Cabernet Franc is superb. I sent a bottle to my brother, a former wine importer, wine conissuier and Master Chef II and he was delighted by it. The Cab Sauvignon, Trillium and Doxology all top notch. Also try the port style (Molly?). Try it both room temp and cold. You'll be shocked by the flavor: from chocolate to chocolate covered cherry. The view from Engleheim is superb, making it a great place to spend the day and enjoy the outdoors. read more

My friend and I came here for a wine tasting and we were not disappointed! We did the wine tasting of five wines each and Kimberly was very helpful in doing the tasting with us. We both enjoyed the Vidal Blanc and the Engle Weiss white wines. The Hummingbird wine was amazing and my personal favorite. The wine tasting room is gorgeous and has a beautiful outside terrace that overlooks the vineyard. We bought a bottle of the Vidal Blanc to share and sat outside on the terrace to relax and enjoy the wine. It was excellent and peaceful!! The view of the vineyard was absolutely breath taking. This is a wonderful winery to unwind and relax with a glass of wine! I would highly recommend this winery to anyone who is visiting Ellijay for the weekend. Amazing wines and staff! My sister, her 2 dogs, as well as me and my dog decided to give this a try on our trip and so happy we did! My dog loved the treats on the patio, while I loved the Cabernet Franc and Hummingbird (brought some home too). The shop was adorable but the vineyard was to die for. The owner stopped on the patio to check in and see how we were doing and pet our pups (such a dog fan). We chatted for a minute and he encouraged us to let our dogs stretch their legs and explore the vineyard without restrictions and told us where they had some great vines in the back. My dog LOVED rolling in the hills making this a memory I'll never forget. Next trip to GA I'll be making another stop! read more
