This is a great fresh fruits and veggies market! They tend to be a bit cheaper than their competitor next door, BUT not on everything! We tend to buy most of our fruits and veggies here with the exception of a few items. The produce here is MUCH more fresh than what's available in the grocery stores nearby!! Highly recommend you come here instead. The one big downside is that it's pretty small inside. So you're constantly bumping into people. And in order to pay, you have to squeeze yourself allllllllll the way to the back of the market. I suggest not coming here with a ton of big bags in hand because you will DEFINITELY run into people and it's not a fun experience for the other patrons in the market... **They have a $4 minimum of you plan to pay with card! We typically get enough produce for myself and my husband that will last an entire week for about $12-$15, depending on what we're getting. read more

I love fruit and vegetable markets. This one caught my eye because of the selection. I bought purple potatoes, fresh corn, and fresh dates. They had good quality produce. The prices were high for some and reasonable for others like fresh corn (4 for $2.00) and the potatoes were reasonably priced as well. The fresh dates were a little pricey but I haven't seen them being sold by me so I bought a few. The lady behind the counter was fast in ringing up my items. Ambiance - All of the produce were laid out nicely and well. It was like eye candy. I wouldn't mind stopping by this place again next time I'm in the neighborhood. the closest thing to a green market in Queens. Fruits and vegetables and bunches of herbs locally sourced and achingly fresh and delicious. Garlic so new and flavorful that I've had to cut down in recipes. L.I. tomatoes glowing with real dirt picked fresh off the vine--no wonder they've been here fifty years and open until midnight. The beginning of fall apples waiting for pies and apple sauce. The two women who run it are sympathetic and helpful. If you can't find it, they'll know where it is. Even the potatoes taste fresh--so different from standard grocery store fare! Summer asparagus that I couldn't stop eating. And baby zuchinni and I don't like zuchinni. I am so happy. I didn't think when I moved anything could equal the Sunday market at the museum of Natural History. Elliniki more than succeeds--and its open seven days a week. read more

I came here to buy fruit. I noticed that strawberries were 7.99. Needless to say, I didn't buy the strawberries. I ended up buying a pineapple and two oranges. After buying the fruit, I went to the fruit market next door. The next door shop was selling strawberries for 99 cents! I'm giving Elliniki three stars for not adhering to competitive marketplace prices. read more

Avoid at all costs. The women at the counter are exceptionally rude and will talk about you to each other in Greek. Aside from that, they spread COVID disinformation to their customers, as well as spread COVID themselves. Not only are there no masks worn by staff, but the woman at the cashier has a hacking cough and coughs right into her hand while handling your groceries MID-CHECKOUT. No glove, nos mask, no elbow, no sanitizer...nothing. Even outside of a pandemic this is gross. This place is disgusting and so are the people. read more

Fruits and vegetables must be a huge business here in Astoria. On this particular corner we have Elliniki Agora and a competitive store right next door that is 10 times the size. In my opinion, Elliniki is a strong and viable business on 30th Avenue. Elliniki has a very fresh product with all your standard fruits and vegetables. I must say, that I usually shop for my F & V across the street at the supermarket. I do so for convenience, but if my local is out or it does not look fresh I come here. I am a big fan of watercress and my supermarket usually does not carry it. Elliniki to the rescue. It is always fresh and bright green with a clean look. No yellowing. Their pricing is competitive and it is open 24 hours. If you can't find what your looking for, just ask. They probably have it in the back cooler. The place is spotless, clean and tidy. Some restaurants should take a class from these guys in maintaining a clean and safe operation. I am very fortunate that I live in a community where I have options to purchase fruits and vegetables. Come on that's not the way of doing business trying to make the costumer bill higher! She was very snaky! Not going there again! its funny how a small fruits and veggie store is able to compete with a much larger fruits and veggie store next door but it seems to be enough for both places to coexist in harmony.i like e.a.selection of fruits and veggies , nuts and the prices are fair with plenty of manager specials on most items. stuff is fresh and evertyhing is displayed in plain sight. the italian peppers are really good and the tangerines are small but pack plenty of sweet flavor. i can spend less then 40 bucks and get 6 bags or more of fresh quality produce which is not possible at most supermarkets . 4 stars on my yelp meter. read more

This is my go-to spot for produce. I go to Key Foods for my other grocery items, then stop in at Elliniki. At first I tried their larger neighbor, but then tried Elliniki and I find the fruits and vegetables to be fresher and last longer. I didn't realize when I moved to Astoria, how well placed my apartment was to great food shopping. I am super grateful after talking to a friend of mine that lives on Astoria Blvd. She has to trek over to 30th Ave every time she shops. Elliniki Agora is so convenient because it is close to several other shops and is open at any hour so you can do all of your food shopping at once or you can stop by every day for the best deal of the day. If you do not see what you are looking for, ask - because they may have it in the back. There just is not enough room to put everything out but that doesn't mean that they don't have it. I buy all my nuts, fruits and vegetables here and I have found their product to be consistently fresh and their prices to be lower than the supermarkets and their neighbor - United Bros. They have a deal of the day cart with substantially reduced pricing out in the front filled with products that are ripe but these are usually still fresh as long as you consume them on the same day. The cash register is in the back of the store and Elliniki Agora is popular so there can often be a line but it moves super quick. They don't take Amex but they do take debit/credit cards. read more

Upon first glance, Elliniki Agora looks somewhat inferior to its gargantuan neighbor, United Brothers. But what this little store lacks in size it more than makes up for in quality. The prices are about the same as next store, but the produce is so. much. fresher. Here, you will not find any wrinkly peppers, mushy avocados, or oozing peaches. What I especially like is that over the summer they have consistently carried Long Island heirloom tomatoes, big and small. If you're lucky, you can also find bunches of multicolored carrots. read more

United Brothers Fruit (which is pretty much right next door) is a great produce market (and open 24 hours!) and while I like it very much, in many ways I feel that Elleniki Agora is more of a gem, as they seem to have more unique items. Just the other day I saw Muscata grapes (smaller and sweeter than regular grapes), fresh California almonds (something I'd never seen before), and a green called calilou. They also had the most beautiful packages of sundried tomatoes I'd ever seen. When you pressed through the plastic, the tomatoes were still soft...not all stiff and hard like most sundried tomatoes are. I especially like this place because it incents me to try new things that I normally don't see in other produce markets...everything is just laid out so nicely and the staff are also very helpful. I was shopping in Key Food for produce. Their fruits and veggies are mostly fine, not great. But they didn't have lemongrass that I needed, and the limes looked inedible. I walked 10 extra blocks to Elliniki. They had plenty of lemongrass and my garlic, scallions, romaine lettuce, pound of string beans, chili peppers, ginger, cilantro, and lemongrass came to $11.44. And the quality of all items was excellent. Cashiers are polite and full of personality (in a good way). Staff is always helpful. It's always busy so you know the turnover on their stock is frequent and it hasn't been sitting there for a while. I always see guys loading and unloading rutabagas and squash from trucks into the store. And it's open 24 hours. Crazy. read more

Only one review and it's from almost two years ago? Disappointment in my fellow Astorians is high right now. I do pretty much all of my fruit and vegetable shopping here. Everything is fresh and the prices are great. I try and walk by here at least once every couple of days even if I'm not planning on shopping because every now and then they've got a special going on that you just can't pass up on. They also now take credit cards for orders over $11 (I think that's the minimum). Stay away from the grocery stores (especially Trade Fair) and go to Elliniki for all of your non high fructose corn syrup needs. read more

Really great green grocer in the heart of Astoria. I like the selection and quality a lot better than the people next door @ Green Brothers. They have so much produce! All their herbs are located in the refrigerator in the back so if you need cilantro or parsley ask one of their helpful employees! They even have fresh Thai bird eye chilis and fresh grape leaves so that you can make dolmades! Prices are very reasonable. Nothing here is organic but their quality is unparalleled. Never shop for produce at a supermarket! Everything in supermarkets have been hanging out for god knows how long. Shop local and you will truly be much happier with the product. Not only is this the first fruit market in Astoria, but it is the best. Don't let the size and interior of United Brothers next door (no, they are not the same store) fool you. Their fruit and veggies are HORRIBLE, and customer service disgusts me. Elliniki Agora (also known as 30th Avenue Fruit Market) has amazing produce, nuts, and even olive oil and honey straight from Greece. The people there are such friendly folks! They make you feel welcome every time you are there. Visiting friends in New York we wanted to take a trip to Astoria to check out the Greek scene. We stumbled upon this open market and small food shop. We felt like we were back in Greece here! The open market had a great selection of fresh produce. Then in the back there was a wide variety of nuts, seeds, and dried fruits. In the small food shop they had an amazing cheese, olive oil, and fresh olive selection. I bought real Greek honey which we have been missing since coming back from our trip. Making it an even more authentic experience our friend had a conversation with an employee in Greek. Opa! read more

I love this place. They're perfectionists and they have a high turn over rate so everything always looks and tastes great. They carry everything under the sun that they can get their hands on so there's always so much Incredible variety including the unusual, like cardoons, celeric, jicama, Dragon fruit, fresh dates, fresh unfermented olives, mangosteen, lychee, etc. They're also open 24/7. Also their prices are competitive and reasonable. My only complaint is that they don't carry enough organically/biologically grown produce but that seems to be slowly changing as I just bought some organic pears and an organic canary melon (at 2:15am!) This place is great. The produce is always fresh and lasts a while. The guy who works in the morning always remembers me. When I was staying in this neighborhood I always stopped in here for some fresh fruit on my way home after a night out. It's so nice to be able to buy something your body can use instead of getting pancakes, or worse, in the middle of the night. read more
