I personally was not explicitly warned about how important it was to avoid prolonged sitting after surgery, and unfortunately I ended up re-herniating my disc. I now deal with nerve pain during bowel movements because of it, which has been very difficult physically and emotionally. I just want others to be aware and take their recovery very seriously. Ask a lot of questions, advocate for yourself, and make sure you fully understand the post-op restrictions and long-term care needed afterward. Overall, I will forever be grateful.
