I've now done five classes and I'm so excited about his new space in Walnut Hills, which will provide options for all sorts of events. His creativity and imagination is endless and his students benefit as a result. Like the name says, this is not your average paint-n-sip. The drinks are flowing and it's a full bar with beer, wine, and liquor, as well as n/a options. You get guidance from a theme and inspiration photos and images, but you ultimately decide what you're going to paint. Some people choose to recreate an existing piece but many go wild, like I do. The Pendleton Art Center space was brilliant and eclectic and full of color and inspiration. I have high hopes that the Walnut Hills space will be the same and I'll be one of the first ones there. James is a delight. He's supportive and encouraging but absolutely no-nonsense. He will give guidance when requested, or gentle nudges when things go awry (or you're taking too long lol). He's an excellent teacher, an outstanding entertainer, and you feel like you're best friends by the end of the class. Do yourself a favor. My daughter attended a kids art class a few months ago and is dying to go back. The owner is the kindest human I've ever met. Such a gem. He took so much extra time to show us around the store, answer our questions and just tell us about the background of everything. They have fun events and camps during the summer as well. OH and there's a bar too!! What doesn't this place have??

It is located in the Montgomery area in a cute shopping square with parking right outside. I.C.I. stands for Imagine Create Inspire. The studio has a cool and fun vibe. The owner, Jackie, is a great artist and instructor. The music while we painted was great and the painting we did was awesome. I have been to other studios, but at this studio we actually used a palette and I learned some things about painting. We're already talking about going back to I.C.I. to have a birthday party! I also know someone whose daughter took a kids class there and loved it.

This is a review from several months ago when we came here with a group of friends for a "painting experience." There was snacks, cheese, dips and non-alcoholic drinks; and we were allowed bring wine or beer to enjoy. We mingled a bit, snacked a bit and drank a bit. I'm sure the little alcohol loosened up inhibitions and allowed for more artistic expression. Magno is an experienced painter who, together with his wife Patty, have added a fun-twist to painting. They've been able to help novices like us feel less intimidated about applying a few brush strokes on the canvass. We were given a template of a Nipa Hut(bahay kubo) or an American eagle to work on and were given the full artistic liberty to express ourselves with whatever colors, moods, strokes we desired. Magno and Patty were great at coaching and supervising us. They gave creative suggestion and positive reinforcement for all of us insecure, novice artists. That means many of his personal artist friends have entered museums over time, beginning with the Fluxus movement. But the gallery is always on the lookout for new artists too! The gallery seems to have an interest in colorful neo-baroque figurative work. They post mail show cards and their artists and shows are on their website. If I were in town, I'd stop in for an opening. If you have the time and a particular interest, you can make an appointment to view their vast stored collection. They have a large parking lot for the building they share with studios in the West End. Solway would be in the top 20 NY galleries with deep contemporary collections, and they are right here in Cincinnati!

Thunder-Sky, an autistic Native American, sketched demolition and construction sites throughout the Queen City. When he passed away in 2004, he left behind 2,000 drawings and a variety of costumes. Thunder-Sky Inc. was founded to preserve the legacy through art exhibits, educational programs, and an exhibition space for unconventional art. Many of Raymond's works of art and outfits can be viewed at the gallery which is opened Friday evenings and weekend afternoons. Prints of Thunder-Sky's work are available for purchase for $50.00 with proceeds contributing to the operation of the gallery. Since his passing, Raymond's art has been collected by enthusiasts across the nation.

The theme was crime scenes so I just had to attend. I could not recall ever being at Thunder-Sky before which made it more of a special treat. I walked up because it was nice out but discovered there was plenty of street parking upon my arrival. The gallery is located in an older but attractive building with a sign hanging over the sidewalk. The exhibit hall is smaller then some but it looks spacious and bright. I found the crime scene paintings and mixed media works very fun and engaging. Down a staircase was more exhibition space. I loved seeing what appeared to be an ongoing Golden Girls' tribute display with framed and mixed media pieces. This is where the food and drink was found. In addition to the typical fruit, meat, pretzels, crackers & cheese was a delicious chocolate cake of a heavier texture with chocolate icing. On top of the cake were these awesome little plastic hatchets like the kind you might murder someone with. How cool is that! By the staircase was a nice variety of cold cans of beer and water. Out the back door there is a small patio space offering a view of the hillside. I really like this art gallery. I plan to return here again.
