I have been to Elliott Stables maybe 12 times and I've never really had a great time. The main problem with it is that it is a sensory nightmare. Because of the layout it is so loud and there are so many people all crammed together that it's just so stressful to be there. It's always pitched to me by friends as a good place to go for a group outing but you don't need a very large group before you're really struggling to hear anyone else. There are lots of different food options which is nice, but they're all pretty pricey and there's limited options for vegetarians. I have tried almost all of the places that have stuff on offer for vegos and the bao are my favourite. But yeah the price and the noise are an issue for me. Maybe if you have plenty of money and get takeout you'd really like it? read more

Stables is an interesting conundrum, a location that is the culmination of a dozen or so little eateries. Some I would rate 5 star, some 3 star. Frankies easily makes the best hot chips in central Auckland (in my opinion) and the Little Grill bacon wrapped chicken tenderloins are heavenly. The pizza is pretty good (I am told) and the Cajun fried chicken is delicious also, slightly marred only by oily curly fries. Great for a central Auckland work lunch or just a weekend lunch ... It's a cut above a normal food court. Great atmosphere. Multiple different restaurants available to appease every food desire even for the pickiest (which I have). Unfortunately some of the restaurants were closed. Half of us went to The Big Little Grill and had some great steak and the rest went for sushi which looked amazing and well presented and tasted great. Restaurants served alcohol. You went to each place and ordered and gave your table number then the food was delivered in a timely manner. They had people bussing the tables to keep things clean and ready for the next patron. read more

This place was so much fun. It literally has a horse stable kind of concept with a large open area where you sit down to eat with various types of restaurants surrounding. There's a nice selection of food options available. You go up and order, tell them which table you'll be sitting at and they'll bring your food out to you. It's like a higher end food court. I like Elliot Stables - it's not perfect, but it's nice. There's all sorts of food, from bruschettas, latin food, pizzas, indian cuisine, japanese cuisine, bratwursts, a creperie, a juice bar, steaks (might i mention they're mighty fine), and desserts. Exactly like what Alex said here - "Perfect if you're dining with fussy eaters!" The place is spacious enough that you can walk easily between the always well cleaned tables (some food court-esque places fail to do this) and there are fresh flowers and candles on the table, so bonus points for that! Me and my friends tried quesadillas and tacos from the latin food restaurant (besos latinos, if I'm not mistaken), a scotch steak from big little grill, and a margherita pizza from the pizzeria (d something, i forgot sorry!) and overall the food was pretty darn good - the presentation was very nice, but i must say eating here is not dirt cheap - i'd say it ranges from $25-40, depending on what food + beverage (both one each) you buy. The staff are all okay, i saw that some are very friendly with regulars and know them well, which was great to see, while others provided "lukewarm" service. There's free wifi here, but it's no BYO.. oh well, we can't have everything, can we? Overall I would definitely come back here, especially to try the other restaurants one by one, even if it may take a tad bit of saving for students. read more

My visits to Elliot Stables have always been enjoyable and what I love most is that you can bring anyone here. I've been here on dinner dates as well as on uni lunch breaks with friends and being able to order from any restaurant of your choice is an awesome selling point. My favorite stops here are De Niro and El Faro, but I'm planning to try the others on my next visit (Torchon French Creperie and Delectable Desserts are at the top of my list!). De Niro is one of the my favourite pasta places in the city and El Faro has some yummy tapas, especially the organic meatball and chorizos. Their paella is also delicious and they always seem to be perfecting their recipe, so it only gets better every visit. Whatever your budget, there's always something for you to try at Elliot Stables. Basically, it's a food court, except it's not in the middle of a mall & the food isn't just fast food. We chose it because we r a party of 7, including a child, so there was something for all palates. Meh! It was ok. What an interesting take on the traditional foodcourt... Elliott Stables is modern and much like visiting a casual restaurant yet with so many options to choose from! As this was my first visit I only sampled one of the eateries - Big Little Grill - and what could have been a very boring chicken salad was really delicious. I think they definitely are making friends with this well dressed simple green salad with scrumptious grilled chicken skewers served on top! There were also some other great options on the menu for the health conscious and the not so health conscious. The choices on Delectable Dessert's menu looked almost irresistable and I am dying to try the creperie next time! Great atmosphere overall and very reasonable prices! read more

Lovely enclosed food court in Auckland with an eclectic selection of French, Italian, Asian and Indian cuisines. It comes as a pleasant surprise when you enter a door in a side street off Wellesley avenue. The first shop is a French cafe with delectable crepes and pastries. My daughter ordered a crepe with Nutella and bananas. It took them a while to make it, I guess we were among the first customers and they were probably still warming their griddles and mixing the crepe batter. It came as a bit of surprise to us but we rested as we had already had a french omelette and coffee at our hotel earlier. But when we had lingered for thirty minutes and still our order was not there, so my daughter went to check on them. In the meantime they were reheating coffees for three other guests and... so we thought they work at Island time...no hurry. When the crepe came it looked fantastic, sprinkled with confectioners sugar. Too bad I was too full to get a taste. Now after 18 hours, I am craving it. Well.., there's always tomorrow! read more

Elliott Stables is wonderful if you're going with a group of friends who all want different things but you want something slightly nicer than one of the Queen Street food courts. To be fair, Elliott Stables *is* essentially a food court - but one where you get waited on and have metal cutlery. The restaurants you can choose from range massively in cuisine and, if I'm honest, also in quality. Cajun food isn't done to excess in Auckland yet and I'm always on the lookout for where I can get some good corn bread. The cajun stand at Elliott Stables has decent corn bread but lacklustre everything else. The dessert stand has some great pies - I particularly enjoyed the Lemon Meringue but they can get bogged down with people - to the point where it took 15 minutes for them to bring out the pieces of pie. The pies had already been prepared, all they had to do was put them on a plate so I thought that was a bit shoddy. Apart from that, the other places I've eaten there have been serviceable. Nothing that blows your mind which you absolutely must eat at but also nowhere that you must avoid like the plague. read more

I've had many wonderful experiences at Elliott Stables, with groups of all shapes and sizes. I find it's perfect when you can't all agree on what you want to eat, because there's very few things they don't have. It's got a beautiful outdoor, airy feeling - despite being a covered indoor space - due to the gorgeous decor and stylings. There's cobbled floors and old varnished wood to make it look like a quaint side street rather than the upmarket food court it really is. Many nights are made even more enjoyable by the live jazz band playing, which might seem pretentious anywhere else. The dimmed lighting also creates a more laid back atmosphere, which ensures I always feel comfortable. While the food can be a tad overpriced and isnt always consistent, this is still a fantastic eatery. read more

We had a great meal at Elliott Stables our last night in Auckland. Elliott Stables is an upscale food court - seems like an oxymoron but hear me out. With options ranging from burgers, to Italian, to Filipino, to Japanese, to Cajun and more, there's something for everyone. The ambiance is pretty with dark wooden tables with flowers and candles in low lighting between the restaurants. The quality of food? Fantastic. My husband opted for lamb curry from the Indian restaurant with naan bread - the curry was rich with deep flavors and nicely spiced, and the lamb fell off the bone with a spoon. I had a coconut prawn curry from the seafood restaurant that was delicious. The favors were balanced and rich. The prawns were cooked perfectly. We were there during happy hour and the seafood restaurant had $5 house wine and our Pinot Gris was a nice compliment to our rich curries. Highly recommend! read more

I was beyond stoked to find this place by chance. It is a fancy version of a food court, with food and drink options that will please everyone. I also like the atmosphere which is cozy and great for people watching. I was there for dinner, so it was quite busy. Both of us settled for some cajun from Bonz. We shared the rack of ribs and the chicken sliders. We ordered jugs of beer for Torchon (French restaurant). The ribs were OK, nothing to write home about. But the fried chicken sliders were delicious, crispy yet juicy and tender. They went really well with chips and beer. I'm looking forward to going back and try the other restaurants. read more

We went to te Mexican restaurant El Beso. Elliott stables can get a bit crowded so we choose to dine inside one of the few restaurant with dedicated dining rooms. Overall experience was pleasant but for those who are used to US or South American Cuisine this may not be the most exciting place. There are a bunch of tables in the middle of the complex with various surrounding restaurants, including Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Southwest Indian, Cajun, and German cuisine. You can order from any restaurant and sit anywhere. Really liked the rustic decor. The overall atmosphere is super cool. We ate at Deniro's Italian restaurant. This place is incredible with so many options! We settled in at a table outside Bonz Cajun Kitchen and grabbed a couple of beers from Torchon's whilst waiting for them to open for dinner. Good enough. By that I mean that you can find slightly better options for each palate elsewhere in Auckland - but - not together, not by the entertainment, etc. I love this place before a show at the Civic. Don't hit the rip-off joints around Aotea Square. Go here instead, no cheaper, but way better. My winter tip: try the onion soup (of course) followed by the Beef Bourguignon at Torchon Brasserie. The beef can be a little salty if you're sensitive to that, but it'll fall apart in your mouth and keep you making those 'mmmm' noises. Bon appetit! read more
