Normally I would prefer to meet in person and they were unable to due to COVID-19. Which I understand, they charge a lot for not doing a lot. I will never use them in the future and felt like I had to manage them. I have used a CPA for the last 15 years and all were more attentive than Ellis Bottom Line Bookkepping. Greg and Kate at Ellis are epic! These two accountants are excellent with communication, diligence, and persistence. They have consistently gone over and above to help me--I have two businesses so my taxes are more complex than if I were employed--and these two keep me on track all year long. They are also authentic and have encouraged me to take actions that resulted in me opening my second business, which is thriving. I read one of the negative reviews from a few years back and, although I sense that Greg is very busy in his firm, I have never felt as if he didn't want to work with me even though I am certainly not wealthy. I have had to remind him 2-3 times over the years to follow up on something he forgot, meaning he had not gotten back to me. I worked with Greg and his staff for 2 years, and the first year I was satisfied with my tax preparation. I was in a transition and asked to be organized into quarterly tax payments in order to be prepared for growing my business. They neglected to get me onto quarterly payments. Then my tax preparation was done improperly, and I got a huge tax bill! Plus now I need to start quarterlies. It will be about 2-3 YEARS now of getting right with the IRS and I have never had any issues with anything like this before. Turns out that income was reported that was not received! I have switched bookkeepers and tax accountants and it has cost me over $1000 to rectify things. At Ellis BLB they were a lot more interested in their build out and in hosting a barbecue than they were in SIMPLE customer service. don't go to Ellis, run the other way!!! read more

Randomly found Ellis BLB on Google a few years ago, and met Greg at his office. I was interviewing a few bookkeepers, but made up my mind on the spot that I wanted to hire Greg and his team. They have absolutely rocked it for the past 3 years, and are very reasonably priced. Ellis Bottom Line has been doing our books for several years and we couldn't be happier. They do payroll, income tax and sales tax.

I had the same exact experience as Mary H. After being with them for pretty much a year and a half Greg told me he did not think we could afford to have him do our books properly and they dropped us. I can only guess they got some huge client that take all of thier time now. Interestingly enough it was shortly after we switched from quarterly deposits to monthly deposits that they no longer wanted to work with us. I still have e-mails saved from Greg saying how he was going to come in and spend some time at the beginning of 2014 to help us get our books in order, but we could never find a time to meet up and then I guess we were no longer important enough. It is a shame because Greg does seem like a really nice guy, but I guess he is only willing to take on easy accounts of people with a ton of money to spend. I have no idea what we are going to be up against now but this is the second accountant we have had fail to take care of us and I just do not know what to do anymore. If anyone reads this and can recommend someone please send me a line. Update 01/26/16 Our new accountant has completed our past 3 years of corporate returns. It cost me over $10,000 to complete. My new accountant is not sure what Ellis BLB was doing for me, but none of my books were in order. She pretty much started all the work over again. She said Ellis BLB was not much help in getting this task completed. I am not sure how much Greg thought was too much for me to afford, but $10,000 should have been enough for any accountant to complete the work. I feel like Ellis BLB should at least return any money I paid to them, especially since they pretty much just gave up on me and told me to take a hike. read more
